THE VALUE OF A MENTOR
with Brian Kurth
VOCATIONVACATIONS.COM
The most important step in pursuing your first career is to find someone who already works in that field who can offer guidance and advice. Believe it or not, this is not as difficult as it might sound. Many people express fear at the prospect of asking for help from a prospective mentor. Why would they want to help you, after all? The answer is easy: people like helping other people! So what makes for a successful mentorship? A good mentor has passion for what they do and WANT to share their expertise with YOU;

ADAMS
WITHSEAN
THE
There may be no professional sports in Austin, but that doesnt mean Austin isnt a sports town. Obviously, the University of Texas sports dominate the airwaves in terms of sports talk radio. And few, if any, do it better than Sean Adams and Ari Temkin of The Adams Theory. Study Breaks Darin Tietgen sat down with the guys to chat about UT football, basketball and their show.
What is your take on the Ash and McCoy, two QB system currently used by UT. Will it be the same moving forward or are they grooming Ash to be the guy? ARI: They say if you have two QBs, you dont have one. The two-QB system has worked but it will be interesting to see what happens when this offense faces adversity. Thats when the leadership needs to be strong. Has Garrett Gilbert taken his last snap as a Longhorn? SEAN: Yes. Change is good. As unfortunate as injuries are, the timing works out.
ARI: The sky is limit for Jaxon. If you didnt know he was atrue freshman, you might think he was senior. Jordan told us on our show that: Jaxon is way ahead of where I was at that stage of the game. Guys like Jaxon and Quandre Diggs, whos Quentin Jammers brother, have been around the game a long time. Theyve been around big time college and professional athletes their entire lives, nothing fazes them. Over/under on UT basketball wins this season? 20? SEAN: I think 20 is right where theyll be. They will really struggle in the front court and thats where college basketball is won and lost. Jay Wright at Villanova does a great job with his guards in teaching them throughout the season to get them ready for the tournament. Rick Barnes will have to do that this year with a young backcourt that will have to shoulder a bunch of the scoring. ARI: Id say over 20. This is a team that has a bunch of young talent in a league that is considerably down than in years past. Kansas will be good, but not great this year. Missouri will be pretty good, but Tech and OU are rebuilding. The conference is not nearly as good this year which should help a young Texas team.
ARI TEMKIN
Ari Temkin is a former Missouri radio show host and play-by-play announcer for the Kansas Jayhawks. Email Ari Temkin: ari@espnaustin.com
ARI: Sometimes change is the best for a guy like Gilbert. There was a ton of pressure on him going to his hometown school. There were expectations that he would succeed and carry the torch for the successful QBs at UT. Sometimes there is no cure for the mental aspect that has been plaguing a guy like Gilbert. Change of scenery is the only way. The Shipleys: Jaxon better than Jordan? SEAN: Yes, this is a smart football family. Ive know the Shipleys fora long time and they are a close-knit family. Jordan said to me years ago: Just wait until my brother arrives.
SPORTSFORLIFE
WITH SEAN ADAMS
Sean Adams is a former collegiate athlete and the author of the book, Sports for Life and Its Ok To Be Crazy. Determination, preparation, character, perseverance and attitude. These, along with many other virtues are the characteristics of success when it comes to sports. Can these same characteristics offer an opportunity at success in all aspects of life? Absolutely! This collection of narratives along with the voices w known and unknown can offer you a great understanding and perspective on sports, life and success. Used as a daily reader or as an easy read, this book will inspire you to find your motivation, your inspiration and understand the reality of who ultimately controls the most important aspect of your success. You! Email Sean Adams: sean@espnaustin.com
ARI: Well, obviously Kabongo. But the success of Kabongo will be directly related to JaCovan Brown and his ability to spread the floor. Kabongo is quick off the dribble and he can get to the rim, now what happens when the defense converges? Brown has shown an ability to be a kick out jump shooter, but hes got to take those shots to help spacing and hes got to shoot at a high percentage to keep the defense honest. Whats the most exciting thing about being in sports talk radio? SEAN: Austin is a smart town. There are people here that love themselves and its not like Philadelphia or Cleveland where fans go absolutely nuts. This is not the west coast where people are wearing hemp clothing and theyre ready to leave the game at any time to go to a protest orsomething. Austin fans they are intelligent and they like sports but they have lives. They are balanced people.
ARI: We talk about all things, not just sports. To classify our show as sports talk is downplaying what our show is all about. People dont just want stats spewed at them. They listen to sports talk and radio shows and evenTV for that matter tospark conversation, to be interested, and more importantly to relate.
ARI: Its a smart audience and a relatable audience, but its also the varying conversations we can have. Mike North, a longtime radio voice in Chicago, said sports radio is 60% sports, 10% religion,
Sean Adams and Ari Temkin bring you three hours of non-stop hilarity weekdays from 1pm to 4pm on The Adams Theory.

TYLERBOONE
Eye On The Prize
orn in El Paso, Texas, Tyler Boone is a South Carolinabased singer-songwriter destined for great things. While he describes his sound as bluesy rock-pop, his music hasnt always been quite so easy on the ears. I played in metal bands throughout high school. And while playing with others helped him develop his musical skill set, he ended up becoming a solo artist out of necessity. Being a singer-songwriter was never something I envisioned but I soon realized that bands dont last forever, says Boone. The business of the blues Even though his head-banging days are behind him, Boone will still listen to just about anything,
Im definitely most influenced by the Blues but as long as it has great guitars, I can get behind it, he claims. Working towards musical stardom isnt easy and even at the tender age of 21, Tyler Boone is all business. I have to have big city interests; in five years I want to have a label, a manager, a lawyer and a big pile of money. Maybe once those things are in place, workaholic, Boone, will allow a little more time for fun and even a little romance, I just dont have time for a girlfriend right now, he says. Perfect production While Boone has been a musician for years, he really hit his stride when he joined forces
with renowned producer MJ Fick. Before moving to South Carolina, Fick did production work with superstars like Lenny Kravitz, Madonna, Jay Z and Lupe Fiasco. His whole roster in Miami was celebrities, says Boone. He came to Charleston to really cultivate the place. MJs doing some great stuff and Im blessed to be working with him. While working with a producer of Ficks caliber has really brought the best out of Boone, its not easy. Hes a perfectionist.
st
MJ made me do 32 takes on just the guitar solo at the end of Austin. But Fick knows that Boone has that something special and hes working hard to make sure he gets it out. With Tyler, the skys really the limit. says Fick.

RRB has been named Must See Tour of the Summer by Rolling Stone and was nominated for an Academy of Country Music award for Top Vocal Group of the Year. Be sure to catch them live at one of their 200+ road shows, because e Randy Rogers Band is a hard hitting mix of classic red dirt country, graceful harmonies and rock inspired guitar sounds, that are sure to leave you torn between throwing your rock sts up or grabbin hold of your dancing partner. 24 | NOVEMBER 2011 | STUDYBREAKS.COM
Getting Attention SB Louis: Do you feel your career is changing? RR: Well weve been trying to expand. For the last four years weve been trying to play coast to coast, even if we dont necessarily have radio with some of these towns; we still go and we still build it (fan base). Weve been working on it pretty hard, but it does feel like, when you come to next plateau, it kind of happens all at once. But, when you look back, for ve years weve been laying this ground work, you know?
SB Louis: I know you all are on the road a whole lot. Has all this commotion set in yet? Like, do you all ever get to sit back, have some beers and think Wow, look where we are now? RR: I dont think our band is one to get ahead of itself. When we do sit down and talk, we make goals and we talk about where we want to go and whats next. Weve been workin really hard, so we havent had a lot of time to stop and smell the roses.
Album So, Burning the Day is the newest record. Is there any particular process you all go through when choosing an album title? RR: Naming the record is really the last thing that happens. You kinda wait till all the songs get chosen, then you gure out what ties them all together. Burning the Day was named cause I didnt want to have a meeting with my management that particular day. We were in Steamboat Springs, Colorado at Musicfest and we (the band) were all physically present: they decided to have a meeting, and I told them that I wanted it to be early that they were burning the day... and it just stuck.
SB Louis:
SB Louis:
Randy wrote eight of the eleven tracks on Burning the Day, and in the music industry thats de nitely something to be proud of. Altogether, Randy wrote and co-wrote over 40 songs, and of the 40, those 8 made the cut.
Do you have a favorite song o of the new album? And why is it your favorite? RR: Yea, its Just Dont Tell Me the Truth. I wrote it with Dean Dillan. Hes been one of my heroes for a long time, so that one de nitely sticks out to me.
SB Louis: SB Louis:
What would you say is your favorite Randy Rogers Band song, ever?
LIFE ON THE ROAD The Randy Rogers Band dedicates over 200 days out of the year on their tour. So, needless to say, they cover a lot of road all over the U.S.
SB Louis: You all are on the road a lot. What is being on the road like, to you? RR: Its just a way of life, you know? Some people can do it, and some people cant. We got lucky, and all of our guys have been doing it for so long, that it just works. I mean, you just gotta be capable of dealing with the unknown and things changing everyday. I think... I think we handle it just ne.
RR: Well, you know, man, theyre all dear to me. Me, especially the ones I wrote.
Is there a song that you really enjoy playing? RR: I Love playing Down and Out, live. We all wrote that as a band. at one sticks out.
SB Louis:
TV So, I know Randy Rogers Band made their television debut with David Letterman in 09, but I recently saw you all on Conan and Jay Leno. How was that experience? RR: Well, both of them were shot in L.A. so everything is laid back. Everybodys not too
SB Louis:
uptight and they want to make sure youre having fun, especially on Conans show. Hes all about having a good time and he had a bunch of ampli ers in the dressing room for us. You get there at about 10 oclock in the morning, and you lm at about 5 oclock pm. So, they encouraged us to plug in and jam all day and have a good time. And so we did. It was just a really laid back atmosphere. And, you know, Jay was the same way. You get your sound check time. eres sta and theres sound guys, and everybodys just so professional. Completely professional.
SB Louis:
on TV anything like the rst time you heard your song on the radio? RR: Well, I just think youre pretty hard on yourself when you have to watch yourself on TV, you know? At least for me, that was the case. It was tough to watch, man. I mean, you just critique your every move; not only how you sound and how you look. Its de nitely easier to hear yourself on the radio than to see yourself on TV. With radio, its usually your record that you worked really hard on; many hours in the studio and you got to make it perfect. With TV, its just one shot. You go out there and try not to screw it up.
SB Louis: How do you all keep entertained in the tour bus? RR: Well, we got the guitars in the bus. We jam a lot. Were all into sports, so we watch football, baseball, or basketball. I dont play much Wii or Xbox, but theres plenty of that in the back lounge. We just watch a lot of movies, dude. Lots of movies. Its hard for me to go watch a movie in the theaters, cause I know Im gonna be in the bus for twelve hours, u know? (laughs) Ill just wait till it comes out.
THE BAND SB Louis: So, you guys are like brothers since back in San Marcos and you all have been touring with each other for almost a decade, right? RR: Yea man, were family. Weve been together since 02.
SB Louis: Do you all ever get un-
that you were gonna say that. RR: (laughs) Well yea, its the one, man. Itstaaasty (in a refreshed post beer drinking voice). I just wish that when I was in college, I would have known that I was gonna be sponsored by beer (laughs). I wouldve never believed it.
SB Louis: So, what about a second runner up? RR: Umm TitosTitos Vodka.
Its like being on a team, you know? And, I will say though, we dont really ght that much. I mean, to be honest, every decision that weve made has pretty much been a unanimous one. COLLEGE FLASHBACK SB Louis: So, you went to school as Texas State, right? RR: Yes I did. What kind of a college student were you? You can be honest. Were not on record with the university. RR: I wasnt a very good student. I was a C student.
SB Louis: SB Louis: Did you attend class regularly? RR: Oh yea, I liked class, but Ive just never been really good at test taking.
Well, as we all know, you cant help but get hungry after a long night of drinking. So, did you have any favorite drunken munchies? RR: Well, my favorite place to eat in San Marcos was Alvin Ordes. Its right by campus. ey sell sandwiches. And what from there kept you going back? I believe it was called e Salvation. It was tasty.
SB Louis: SB Louis: What do you listen to in your free time? Whats in your iPod right now? RR: Man, I listen to a bunch of old shit. I listen to Merle Haggard, Willy Nelson, Wayne Price, and Kris Kristopherson. And new stu , Ive been listening to Jason Isbell and the 400 unit. But most of the stu
FUTURE SB Louis: Do you have any upcoming projects or shows that your looking forward to? RR: Well were just writing right now. Just writing for the new record, and well record that in the fall. So, we just gotta make it through the year, play all our shows, and then make the new record. What would be your ultimate dream/goal? RR: Well man, Ill tell you. Our biggest goal is to play Saturday Night Live; to be the musical guest on Saturday Night Live. Well get there one day.
SB Louis: SB Louis:
was your major in college? RR: I majored in Public Relations. As much as college related questions should actually be about school, lets move on to a more popular subject in college. Whats your favorite alcoholic beverage? RR: Cold Bud Light Beer!
SB Louis: SB Louis:

harming. Trustworthy. Ripped. All great characteristics for the perfect politician, right? Well, those arent the only words to describe William Igbokwe. is twenty-two year old senior in college is a very goal-oriented and driven person. With aspirations of becoming Mayor of his hometown and attending law school after, William has potential that will be executed for the future. And hes starting now. Why did you make the decision to run for Mayor? I think what makes me the best option for Mayor of Jacksonville is my commitment to honoring the concerns of the citizens, my commitment to my goals as mayor and the energy and compassion that I have to ful ll all of the aforementioned. As Mayor of Jacksonville, I know I could really shake things up in a positive way and cater to the needs of all citizens, regardless of however theyve been categorized by arbitrary labels. Have you always known what you wanted to do after you nished college? Not immediately. It wasnt until this summer that I decided that Id bid for Mayor of Jacksonville in 2013. My logic is if Im an aspiring politician, why should I wait to start around the median age of what, fty? e youth shouldnt be disenfranchised from the political process in any aspect nor should it be an automatic disqualier for public o ce, especially since were next in line to inherit whatever the previous generation left for us. Id like a say in the a airs of my community as soon as possible. Do you think post-grad students have what it takes to get their experience in politics? I mean, of course. In fact, I think people should be engaging their local, state and national government earlier than that. I think its really easy for people to become disillusioned with their government when they havent established any type of relationship with government in the rst place. at opens the door up to instances where the rst time a citizen and their government have an encounter, its for an unpleasant reason. Early involvement and engagement of your government can help assuage disillusionment.
What do you hope to bring to the table while getting involved with politics? Id hope to bring the appeal of the youth participation to politics. A lot of people my age or younger feel disenfranchised from their own governments (local, state and national). In a country where the youth have so much energy and potential to o er, there is no reason that a disconnect should exist. Id like to bridge that gap between government and young people because obviously, both sides have much to gain from a strong relationship. Why do you think that gap has been present? Because our politicians neglect our youth and dont take their opinions (and sometimes their concerns seriously). So to close this gap, its on the heads of politicians to reach out to the voiceless and to our youth. What are your hobbies? I like reading current events, holding conversations about current events, debating current events, running, exercising, playing pick up games of whatever, shopping, writing, speaking in publicI mentioned I was boring earlier in this interview, right? Why are you so boring? Give me details. Im boring because I live a very routine, party free (for the most part) and drama free life. Im just under the impression that my lifestyle can be very unappealing to a lot of people in my age group. Im an introvert, for the most part. And I know sometimes we get a bad rap for being dull. Any love interest? Haha, yeah, there is one actually and shes great. Youll nd out more about her if/when we get married. In your last year in college, what would you like to do involving politics? I would like to volunteer with a campaign organization or a nonpro t organization. I really want to get my hands dirty in the local political scene and help out in any way that I can. Im not looking to make a huge impact on anything in particular. For now, I just want to learn.

(but only sort of.)
If your friends would describe you in 5 words, what would they say?
How is your dad doing now? Hes doing well, thank you. I just saw him and the rest of my family members recently for my 22nd birthday. Has your father played a huge part in your life? Is he a man you would want to become? Hes played a huge role but not in the ways many would guess. Hes a very quiet and thoughtful man. So on the surface, he and I are very di erent. Where Im very outspoken and loud, hes the opposite. Hes also a very shy and patient man. Nonetheless, Ive learned a lot through my father through his actions. I dont know a more responsible or standup guy and Id be hard pressed to nd one more intelligent. I know his struggles as the rst of ten children growing up in Imo State, Nigeria and the struggles he continued to face when he emigrated to the US to make a better life for himself and his family. I have the utmost respect for him and everything hes been through. Hes taught me diligence, patience and a calculated approach to lifes problems through his actions alone. I couldnt have asked for a better father. What major issues would you focus on for college students? Well since healthcare and education often disproportionately a ect college students/youth, those two issues would be high priority in my relationship as a politician with college students. Weve discussed my beef with healthcare a bit, but I recently read an article (I think it was in the Wall Street Journal) that proclaimed that more than at any point in this nations history college students are depending on student loans to attend school. I think that says a lot of secondary education in this country and some of the problems its facing. I dont think it should cost an arm and a leg to further educate the nations brightest. Lest we forget, our college graduates will be in charge of running this country in the near future. Itd be great if they could complete and pay for school. What is one thing youd change about America? e wealth disparity in this country is disgusting and exacerbates a lot of other issues the country is currently facing. So, without a doubt, that would be the one thing I change about this
Since healthcare and education often disproportionately affect college students, those two issues would be high priority as a politician.
country. In fact, its a wonder that little media attention has been given to what is, quite frankly, a national crisis. An embarrassing one, actually. Imagine yourself at the age of 50. What are you doing? Ill be serving the United States government and my constituents in some form or fashion. Ill be watching my children grown into responsible, caring, young adults and rejoicing with my wife because we have the house to ourselves. Ill be maintaining a close relationship with siblings and a few close friends and Ill be rereading this interview thinking aloud wow, I was this guy thirty years ago? What do you wish you would have accomplished by then? To be a great father, a great politician, a person who put a dent in wealth disparity, who challenged the status quo on equality and dis-
crimination and a man who is still relatively t at least in the eyes of my wife. You mention wife and kids often. Are you a family oriented type of guy? Very. My immediate family members are the most important people in my life and that will never change. I want to create the same time of strong bond and connection for my children and what will be their family. What is the best advice your mom or dad has given you? If you want it, you can have it. Just work for it. And pray. -Mom What are your goals and aspirations? I have three major goals in life. e rst concerns my family, present and future. I want my parents and siblings to be proud of what
I will ultimately become as time progresses. I also want the ability to take care of my parents and siblings in any way necessary, including nancially. I want my future wife and children to be proud of the man they know, despite my personal aws. Particularly concerning my children, I want them to know that their father loves them unconditionally and that no matter what, they can come to me with whatever concerns they have. I want my children to grow into people far more progressive, accepting and loving of the world and the people in it than I could ever be. My second goal concerns my career. I want to be an e ective and trustworthy civil servant/politician that my constituents and country can depend upon. I want whatever group of people Im privileged to represent to have the utmost con dence and faith in my commitment, skills and ability to execute.
Effective and trustworthy politician is there even such a thing? eyre out there, for sure. Its just unfortunate that in todays political climate, youre only getting to hear about the sel sh and ine ective politicians. Id like for the term politician to connote positivity again, if it ever did. And the third goal? e third goal concerns my own vanity: I want to make the cover of Time, GQ and Esquire. Study Breaks has been checked o the list. anks for that. Why should they choose you to be on the cover? Well, they have no reason to select me, as of now. But down the road Id hope that because Ive impacted a substantial amount of people in a positive way theyd be compelled to tell the world that story by placing me on the cover.

Sure, its okay be a bit curious about whom your girlfriend has dated, hookedup with, and had that one night stand with what-hisface, but havent you heard, curiosity killed the cat? Youre in the picture now, so dont worry about what has happened in the past. It doesnt matter to her, and it shouldnt matter to you either. Who knows, she may not be happy with her past and thats not something for you to remind her of. If youre that worried about her past, learn to trust what she tells you. You shouldnt be in the relationship if youve lost sight of that characeristic.

Study Breaks will give you the benefit of the doubt. Video games are a little more appealing than your lady coming home from class, sweating bullets because of the weather. But does this mean you dont have to talk to her because of it? Helloshes standing right there in front of you. Hit the pause button, listen for a few, and you just might get lucky that night. No one wants the girlfriend who gets so upset because the only words youve said to her is uh-huh, yeah, yes, oh yeah? that she grabs the Xbox and throws it on the ground. Women have strength, and she wont be afraid to show you.
Youve heard this one time after time. Just about every woman said the toilet-seatup-act is by far the most annoying. Men, it might be hard to place the seat back down the way you found it, but be a little more considerate, will ya? Its never pleasant for a woman to walk into the restroom, sit down and drown in the toilet water. Save women the time and the bitchin and just place the seat back down. Dont forget to wash your hands!
Whether it is to your neighbor, friends, brothers girlfriends sisters roommate, its always a bit awkward when your girl is standing right next to you as you start a conversation never mentioning her. For starters, its rude; secondly, it leaves her twiddling her thumbs or awkwardly looking through her phone anxiously waiting for the two minutes to be over. Just a simple, Oh, this is my girl, _______, will do so much justice.
Does your man have a habit that you cant stand? Tell us about it!

REAL MEN RE
TRENDS on CAMPUS
C ampus Sty le
We know that picking an outfit in the morning isnt the first thing on your mind. However, these five guys make campus fashion a breeze. In fact, you probably have these essentials in your closet already, so no need to break the bank on a new wardrobe. Pair a fitted shirt with tailored pants and comfortable shoes and you are ready for class. Use items such as bandanas and sunglasses to add individuality to your outfit.

BEARDS
November is made for No Shaves. But its important to stay on the ruggedly groomed side of things, as opposed to shaggy, unkempt, possibly-a-grad-student-orhomeless-person-or-both. No one wants that side. No one.
WOODEN ACCESSORIES
We Wood Watch on Kembrel While youre doing the whole au natural thing with your face, might as well go whole hog and get some accessories that evoke the forests. We Wood watches are designed well, work perfectly, and, best of all, are endlessly fun to play with during a boring lecture.
BEER ACCOUTREMENTS
Glass Growler from West Elm Beer is always awesome. But it seems to be magically more awesome when its presented beautifully. Like in a vintage college beer stein. Or clad in the arms of a mysterious waitress. Or in artful glassware, like this growler. Something that classes up Natty Bo? That is a must-have.

BEAUTIFUL BOOKS
Atlas of Remote Islands on Amazon Before the universe invented Wikipedia, there were things called encyclopedias. They were big and had lots of information in them. And would you believe that they still make them! And other books, filled with fascinating facts! That you can read! And learn things! And impress people with your quaint studious lifestyle!

SMOKING JACKETS
Not that kind of smoking! Were talking old school cigar gent here, though tobacco isnt necessary to feel like a polished Gatsby as you loaf around your castleer, closet-sized dormroom.
ON CAMPUS
CUFFLINKS
The holidays are filled with annoying reasons to put on a scratchy and uncomfortable suit. At least you can stay connected with these cufflinks. Every man needs a nice pair they turn the old penguin suit into something unique. And just think of the espionage possibilities.
No guido look, leave the hair gel and affliction at the Jersey Shore. Do not, we repeat, do not wear your school color with more of your school color. You can have school pride without being tacky. Unless you are Lil Wayne (and even then it is questionable) do not wear jeggings and/or girl jeans. Wake up five minutes earlier and go to class in clothing items other than pajamas.
COLOGNE
Mens Tobacco and Whiskey Cologne from OrvisMen like women to smell lke cupcakes and icing; women like men to smell like, well, a man. Save the floral musky scents for cloudy mall stores - dab some Whiskey cologne on and get ready for some serious swoons in your direction.

Merde Il Pleut Umbrella on raindropsto.com Just because its grey, and raining, and sad, and dreary, doesnt mean you have to become lost in a sea of despairing and uncreative cheap black umbrellas. RUBY KO
When decorating my loft, I didnt want to go with a theme so I guess if I put a theme on it then it would be e Ruby Ko eme, because I hate themes, to tell you the truth. With a theme, you will grow out of it in no time and everybody has already done that same thing before, so dont think youre being original with it. On to the designing, I wanted something quirky but with a touch of classy, contemporary and warm pieces. I did this by using a variety of patterns, wood and industrial designs in the furniture, pillows and wall art.
Favorite piece in the loft?
I found this little beaded moccasin at a thrift store and bought it. I picked out my stripped rug from that shoe. I am also a huge fan of the store Anthropologie; I would live in there if it was possible, so I use it as my muse for the loft.
The loft versus living at home with parents?
MY PLACE
My mirror! We call it the party mirror because everyone loves to dance and take pictures in front of it. It truly makes the place look a whole lot larger than it really is. Its a great way to make a small room look bigger.
Inspiration?
is by far tops home with parents. I love my mom and dad, but there is only so much you can do when your domain consist of only your room and bathroom. is move truly brought out my creative side and allowed me to spread out all of my ideas. e loft is the perfect size for me, but I am a tad bit intimidated to move into something larger, it will be hard to ll a more spacious home.
Can Study Breaks readers design this on a budget?
Mirror: $300
I am so in love with everything Native American. e patterns are so unique in everything they design that I wanted to incorporate that into my designs.
Going cheap is great and all but there is always a need for some key pieces that can be used in several di erent designs. If youre going to buy something more expensive, then make sure that you can gure several di erent designs to go with it so you get your money out of it. Garage sales, thrifts stores, Goodwill and a can of spray paint will become your best friend.
YOUR PLACE
Youre a man. A tough guy who scoffs at the idea of cooking because cooking is for wussies. Or is it? Studies show (and by studies, we mean picking the brains of the SB staff) that a man who can cook will get you to first base, but cooking well gives you a 75 percent higher chance of getting laid. Yup, all the way to third base. Unfortunately, the male gender has a difficult time putting patience and TLC in to a home cooked meal. If youre in a rut to impress a girl or simply just tired of your daily Whataburger runs, check out these recipes for a hearty and easy to fix meal thats sure to impress.

VEGETARIAN
When someone says vegetarian, they most commonly mean a lacto-ovo vegetarian, or people who do not eat
Although the most common conception of people who abstain from eating animal flesh or byproducts is that they are card-carrying PETA members, there are many reasons someone may choose to be a vegetarian or vegan. From religious reasons to simple healthy solutions, 3.2 percent of U.S. adults follow a vegetarian-based diet and 10 percent follow a vegetarian-inclined diet, according to the Vegetarian Times.
PESCATARIAN
Apescatarianabstainsfromeating landanimalsandbirds,butstillincludesfishandshellfish. They may or
may not eat dairy products. Becoming a pescatarian is often used as an in-between to developing a vegetarian or full vegan lifestyle, but the diet is becoming more and more frequent as a permanent stage. Pescatarians are given more options for proteins and good fats, and often better, healthier choices at restaurants. Fish raised on inhumane farms are also far less frequent, and fresh fish is much more readily available than organic red meat or poultry.
kind of animal product, including all dairy, eggs or anything that includesanimal-derivedingredients. A
raw vegan takes this one step further and only eats unprocessed vegan foods, and absolutely no steamed vegetables. Raw vegans believe that this saps the food of its intended nutritional value. This is easily the hardest lifestyle to maintain, as many restaurants do not take vegan, and especially raw vegan, options into account. It also requires careful scrutiny of ingredient lists and a true dedication.
animalmeat, butstillincludeeggs, milk, cheese and other animal by productsintheirdiet. Similarly, lactovegetarians describes vegetarians who cut eggs out but still eat dairy products and ovo-vegetarians cut out the dairy but can still enjoy scrambled eggs for breakfast. Maintaining a lacto-ovo vegetarian lifestyle is usually the goal of someone who chooses to cut meat out of the diet. The imitation-meat products lining grocery store shelves and larger vegetarianfriendly options in restaurants, make the transition much easier.
DIRECTIONS: In a large pot, saut the tofu in the vegetable oil over medium high heat for about three minutes. Add the onions, green pepper, garlic, mushroms, chili powder, salt and pepper to taste, cayenne and cumin. Cook until veggies are just barely tender, about five minutes.
