Geneva - A unique jewellery collection of great charm and enduring beauty originating from a European family will be offered for sale at Christie's Geneva on November 16 at 3pm. The splendor of this collection is represented by 67 jewels skillfully and passionately gathered together in the mid-20th Century, bearing the style and signature of the most talented jewellery houses such as Boucheron, Cartier, Mauboussin, Ostertag, Tiffany & Co, Van Cleef & Arpels and Harry Winston. Jean-Marc Lunel, Head of Christie's Geneva Jewellery Department: During my entire career I have never been asked to sell a group of jewels of such variety and outstanding beauty. I feel privileged that the vendors have entrusted Christies with the sale of these extraordinary pieces which will, no doubt, be among the very highlights of this auction season in Geneva. Unquestionable quality is behind every piece, each of them is a work of art in its own right. Dating from the early 1900s to the present day, the collection includes all the major periods and styles of the 20th Century, covering every type of jewel and gemstone: from a timeless diamond necklace by Harry Winston from 1964 (estimate: SFr. 1,350,000-2,250,000 / US$ 1,500,000-2,500,000; illustrated above right), or a set of exceptional ruby and diamond jewellery, mounted by Cartier in 1951 (estimate: SFr. 720,000-1,100,000 / US$ 800,000-1,200,000; illustrated top left) to a splendid mystery-set ruby and diamond flower brooch by Van Cleef & Arpels (estimate: SFr. 270,000450,000 / $300,000-500,000; illustrated below left). Among the period highlights are an Art Deco diamond, emerald and onyx bracelet, by Gattle (estimate: SFr. 180,000-270,000 / US$ 200,000-300,000) and a pair of Belle Epoque emerald and diamond brooches (estimate: SFr. 180,000220,000 / US$ 200,000-240,000.)
