Expert Installation.
Disconnect the battery. Access the DME box in the engine compartment. Remove the 2 DME connectors. Using table A, identify all sub-connectors. Using Table B and the Black Box wiring harness, identify all connectors. Using table C as a reference, remove the 5 pins from the X1, X2, and X5 connectors, and insert them in the appropriate order into the male end of the B connector. Each time you remove a pin from the DME connector, insert the corresponding brown wire from the Black Box wiring loom (i.e. as you remove pin # 29 from the X5 connector, insert it into the blue connector in position 3, and immediately insert the brown pin from the Black Box loom labelled X5-29 into the X5 connector into position 29). Connect the male end of the B connector into the prewired female end. Using the enclosed tapping connectores, tap into the 3 wires as specied in table C. Do not connect the Black Box at this time. Connect the supplied Service Plugs to test the harness installation. Note that the plugs are color coded and have locating tabs so that they can only be inserted one way. Connect the battery. Start the car and ensure that the car is running normally. If the vehicle experiences any issues at this point, there is a problem with the installation of the harness. Please double check all connections, especially pins X5-10 and X5-29. If the car runs normally, you may now remove the key, disconnect the Service Plugs and connect the Black Box. The Black Box should display a ashing amber light. When powered, the LED will turn to solid green. You can now start the car and drive o.
