Inside Out

e-lesson Week starting: 14th April 2008

1. Dancing
This week’s lesson focuses on the subject of dancing, and features the experiences
and opinions of three different people.

Level
Upper intermediate and above (equivalent to CEF level B2 and above)

How to use the lesson

1. Ask your students whether or not they like dancing, and why. What different kinds
of dance do they know? How would they explain the fact that dancing seems to have
always been a part of human culture?
2. Hand out Worksheet A and give the students five to ten minutes to read the texts.
Encourage them to look up any new vocabulary. You could ask the students if they
agree with any of the speakers’ opinions.
3. When the time is up, divide the students into pairs and hand out Worksheet B. Give
them a few minutes to complete Exercise 1, in which they have to find the words to
match the definitions given.
4. Check answers in open class.
5. Keeping the students in their pairs, move on to Exercise 2 and ask the students to
complete the crossword.
6. Check answers in open class.
7. Ask the students to turn over their copies of Worksheet A, or to hand them back to
you temporarily. Then hand out Worksheet C and ask them to work together to
complete Exercise 3, in which they have to find ten mistakes in each text. Point out
that the mistakes are all grammatical or lexical, and that no correction requires the
them to write more than one additional word.
8. Check answers in open class. If you wish, hand out copies of Worksheet D to the
students after you have identified the mistakes on Worksheet C.
