Why should technology be used in a classroom?

A. Technology gets students involved in their learning and gets them motivated to continue to learn. 1. Video of student using technology in the classroom B. It also prepares the students for the future in teaching them skills that they will one day use in the work force. C. Students now were brought up in a world of emerging technology so having technology stream into the education part of their lives gives them a sense of familiarity, which will help reduce stress. D. Using technology in the classroom will also help cater to learning styles that may have not been reached in other forms of instruction. 1. Just as every student grows and develops at different rates, they learn in different ways and at different speeds. Technology makes it possible to pace lessons appropriately for each students learning level and can be used to promote learning in the multiple intelligences. http://theapple.monster.com/benefits/articles/8484-using-technologyto-differentiate-instruction

2. Definition of DI: By differentiating instruction, we mean the planning

and delivery of classroom instruction that considers the varied levels of readiness, learning needs, and interests of each student. Teachers can do this most effectively by using a range of technology tools to engage learners at varying levels of readiness in multiple ways and by offering students options for demonstrating their understanding and mastery of the material. http://www.cited.org/library/site/media/Differentiated %20Instruction%20Using%20Technology %20UPDATE12%205%2007.pdf E. Why should technology specifically used in a math classroom? 1. Students attitudes would change about math. They would go from students hating and dreading math to actually liking it and looking forward to class everyday and finally, actually understanding it! a) Pictures that portray the frustrations with math and also loving math.

Web 2.0 Tools: The New Age of Technology

A. Definition & explanation 1. The term Web 2.0 is associated with web applications that facilitate participatory information sharing, interoperability, user-centered design,[1] and collaboration on the World Wide Web. A Web 2.0 site allows users to interact and collaborate with each other in a social media dialogue as creators (prosumers) of user-generated content in a virtual community, in contrast to websites where users (consumers) are limited to the passive viewing of content that was created for them. www.wikipedia.com 2. A great website to look out if you are interested in Web 2.0 tools: http://www.web2teachingtools.com/ 3. If web 1.0 was organized around pages, web 2.0 is organized around people.
