DESCRIPTION: The WaboCompressionSeal Heavy-Duty series is a preformed elastic joint seal manufactured of neoprene and installed with a lubricant adhesive. It is highly resistant to deterioration from exposure to weather, sunlight, oils and impact. When properly installed, the WaboCompressionSeal Heavy-Duty series provides a permanent seal for any type construction whether in bridges, parking decks, or buildings. Featuring an internal elastomeric cross-sectional web conguration, the seal design allows it to exert a continuous and uniform force against the joint walls therefore effectively preserving water tightness. Even at the lowest design temperature, the seal will retain its elasticity while maintaining a minimum of 15% compression to assure a dependable seal. The WaboCompressionSeal HeavyDuty series has proven itself to be an effective and efcient seal in resisting the differential movements and extreme conditions found in high impact structures. TYPICAL APPLICATIONS: The degree of slab movement and actual joint width should be known before the appropriate sized Wabo CompressionSeal Heavy-Duty series can be selected for a particular joint. Any variation in joint openings as well as creep and shrinkage should also be considered.

Sealing expansion joints in bridges, parking decks, buildings, tunnels, and water and sewage treatment plants. Heavy duty trafc and high load applications.

FEATURES/BENEFITS: Unique Design The WaboCompressionSeal Heavy-Duty series design conguration enables the entire seal to act as an integral unit resisting compressive forces without distorting the sides. This keeps the walls in uniform contact to achieve a watertight joint. Also, the design prevents the seal from being forced out of the joint and extending above the surface. Versatile Conforms to various structural congurations, within certain tolerances, while maintaining properties. Sealing efciency is not affected by vertical shear, horizontal shear, or joint rotation. Ease of Installation The lubricant adhesive facilitates the WaboCompressionSeals Heavy-Duty series installation process and provides a vehicle to give intimate contact with the joint wall by lling minor voids in the joint interfaces. PHYSICAL PROPERTIES: WaboCompressionSeal Heavy-Duty series seal material complies with ASTM D3542 and AASHTO M297. PROPERTIES OF ELASTOMERIC SEAL:

LIMITATIONS/STORAGE: Limitations Watson Bowman Acme does NOT recommend the use of WaboCompressionSeal Heavy-Duty series under the following conditions: On joints where movements exceed 3 inches Seals must remain in compression throughout the entire movement cycle Joint opening should incorporate 1/4 seat whenever seal is exposed to vertical loading Storage Store WaboPrimaLub Adhesive out of direct sunlight in a dry place between 50-90oF. Store WaboCompressionSeals bridge series in an area that will not damage materials. Shelf life of WaboPrimaLub is approximately 1 year from date of manufacture

INSTALLATION SUMMARY:

Joint interfaces must be clean of all contaminants prior to applying WaboPrimaLub Adhesive Apply a thin film of Wabo PrimaLub Adhesive immediately prior to the installation of the WaboCompressionSeal. WaboPrimaLub Adhesive shall be applied to both sides of the seal and along the joint interfaces Compress seal and insert into joint opening Clean excess adhesive from the top surface

PACKAGING/COVERAGE: Packaging Depending on seal size, the longest available stock lengths or ordered lengths are provided. WaboCompressionSeals Heavy-Duty series are packaged and coiled on wooden pallets WaboPrimaLub Adhesive is one part moisture curing urethane adhesive shipped in one gallon containers Coverage WaboPrimaLub Adhesive coverage will depend on joint size, placement, waste, and experience. Consumption Guide for Seals 1 1/4 to 3 1/2 seal width = 200 ft per gallon > 3 1/2 seal width = 100 ft per gallon

SURFACE PREPARATION: Form or saw cut joint groove. Using compressed air, clean joint surfaces prior to installation.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS/EQUIPMENT: Seal installation tool (pogo stick) is recommended for installation. Contact WBA for seal installation tool.
