Itinerary for Baseline Survey

ENRD is conducting baseline survey in its project implementation areas, where PAN phase II project is going to be
implemented. Ms. Bidya Bhattarai and Ms. Bimala Adhikari, the social researchers and technical training experts, Mr.
Uttam K. Acharya and Basanta Biswokarma will be involved in a detailed survey of the areas. This survey is aimed to
collect socio-economic status of local people, existing ICT situation in the village, attitude of villagers and their
expectations on the services being providing by the telecenters. Further, this team will try to explore the actual use of
NepaLinux in the telecenters and its benefits as well as beneficiaries (students, teachers, women group, unemployed youths
and farmers).

Research team will head to the field on June 27 from Kathmandu and be in field until second week of July. This first phase
of field visit is targeted to the telecenters being run under Nepal Wireless Networking Project (more specifically Shikha,
Nagi and Lumle telecenters ). More than 50 respondents representing all the five targeted sectors from each telecenters will
be interviewed and requested to fill the structured questionnaire. In addition, the research team will also be engaged in the
focus group discussion with the concerned stakeholders to acquire data that are missing from questionnaire. Though, there
might be frequent changes in the scheduled itinerary due to monsoon and engagement of local people in agriculture
activities, the tentative schedule of the team would be as follows.
