Long ago, even before the Old Gods ruled Azeroth, a benevolent worg demigoddess mothered a race of elf-like

beings that can tranform in worgen-like form. They w ere the Lyallar race. Early in their history, they were shoved aside by other po werful races in Lyaronthyll. As a the mother of the lyallar, Summara influenced lyallar high leaders to go on a war of conquest. The war was a huge success and they learned many things like war skills and wizardry. Steadily, as the lyallar prospered, they forgot Summara and their deities. Then one day a servant of the nathrezim arrives offered the magocracy fel magic, the magocracy accepted. To get this, they summoned the dreadlords through a por tal and as a deal, the dreadlords were offered a part of world rule. The nathrez im orchestrated the fragmentation of the lyallar. The lyallar were split into 5 groups. One of the groups were still loyal to Summara and so they sought refuge. But the world became increasingly hostile as the nathrezim and rival groups att ack each other, so in a last ditch attempt to save themselves, they stole a powe rful magical artifact called the Heavenfang Orb to create a portal into the twis ting nether. The lyallar and their demigods went through the the portal to escap e. In the twisting nether, the lyallar lived as nomads because the nether was the h ome of the dreadlords. They were constantly hounded by the nathrezim but they ar e by no means helpless. Several nathrezim strongholds were razed and the lyallar encountered many creatures. (DEBATABLE) Even though they were successful in hol ding off the nathrezim, they discovered that this couldn't go on forever, so the y also planned to escape from the nether. To escape they went through several po rtals to confuse the dreadlords and finally made the jump to ancient, primordial Azeroth. In Azeroth, the Old Gods ruled along with their various servants. Living conditi ons were harsh but it was more hospitable than in the nether so the lyallar sett led. They set up a number of cities and prospered for a number of years under a few generations. One day, however, the Old Gods sent their armies to enslave the lyallar seeing them as magically attuned and strong. For a relatively short tim e, they were the slaves of Yogg-Saron.
