Hematite
Goethite
Goethite, common ore of iron, and one of the most
commonly occurring minerals in nature. An iron hydroxide
mineral, FeO (OH), goethite generally contains about 63
percent iron.
Siderite
Siderite, also chalybite, brown, translucent or
transparent mineral with a glassy luster, composed
essentially of iron carbonate, FeCO3.
Taconite
Taconite, hard, flint like sedimentary rock of chemical
origin, rich in particles of the red iron oxide, hematite, and
the black iron oxide, magnetite.
Magnetite
Magnetite, mineral and common ore of iron having the
composition Fe3O4.
Red Cliffs, Hamersley Range
The red cliffs of Australia’s Hamersley Range are a
sign of the mountains’ rich iron deposits.
