Pakistanis can be broadly divided in two categories, those who are

thankless, ungrateful and those who are geniuses or bordering on the geniuses. Those are
capable of doing everything.

Let us start with the first category – the ungratefuls. These are people who
are never happy with anybody and anything. They constantly complain about how bad is
other government, leaders, bureaucracy, our roads, flyovers, cricket team, our squash
players etc. In short there is nothing right with us from our weather to our economy.
These people are the greatest critics of every government civil or military. Now take the
achievements of our present day government which has done wonders in every walk of
life but are never given any credit. And it is not duly that they have done so much for the
country and its people but done it for the first time in the history of this country.

I know that many readers of this column must be saying what are you
talking about. Well what I am talking about is first of all the economy. The first time
ever in this category are 7% growth rate the highest even flow of dollars, approximately
40 billion dollars in six years (10 billion US aid, 12 billion rescheduling, 20 billion
remittance), and this does not include foreign investment of 6 billion and another 2
billion from privatization.

You are saying, but where have they gone? Now does it really matters? Is
it not enough that so many billions of dollars entered the country for the first time and
most of them were used but some were also saved and are lying in the State Bank of
Pakistan.

But that is not all. The current history to complete its full term of 5 years.
In fact it is so strong and stable that it may even decide to extend its tenure by one more
year on popular demand then it is thinking of re-electing the Chief Executive a second
time for the first time. Will that not be in the national interest? Will it not save the
nation’s millions of dollars in less expenditure on the election of more or less the same
politicians who have done --- a fine job in the last five years that no other
parliamentarians have done before in Pakistan’s history.

Let me give you just two more examples of the first in our history. I told
my friend sagatarins First the Chief Justice and the black coats. It is for the first time in
our history since 1950 that the Chief Justice said no to the CEO and the black coats were
allowed to come out in his support The only action taken was the filing of a reference
before the Supreme Judicial Council, according to the constitution. The Prime Minister
suggested the competent authority – the CA to file a reference which the CA was obliged
to follow under the constitution. Now this has been turned into a national crisis by the
professional and corrupt politicians who are trying to make a purely legal matter into a
political matter for purely selfish reasons.

They are not even grateful that for the first time the media has been given
full freedoms, and so many channels have been given license to operate freely, invite all
kinds of useless people, including those selfish, ungrateful, corrupt and mindless
politicians to speak their minds. There are just a few key examples of the “first timers” in
our history. If one was to include the minor ones as well like the Burqa Brigade and their
two mentors, the Aziz Brothers of the Lal Masjid, who are ready to march right up to the
Lal Qila to reclaim their lost but rightful heritage bequeathed to them by their great
ancestors, the Ghazanvis and the Ghoris.

My friend the ungrateful sagatarious was finally convinced about the “first
timer good” in our history all to the credit of the present leadership. So, he wanted to
know about the genuineness. I said that they are in such large numbers that I could not
tell him about all of them but the following three examples. First the ---- head
economic and finance wizard who had turned a bankrupt economy into a vibrant
prosperous economy within a short period of 5 years. He had given us a sustained
growth rate of over 6% which is going to surpass the target of 8% in one year. His
economic policies have brought down the number of poor from 84% to 24% in just five
years, the foreign exchange reserves to 13 billion dollars from less than one billion in
19987 and the stock market to over 13000 level
