OVERVIEW BY POSITION
Quarterbacks (3), Returning Starter (1)
Coach Matt Cavanaugh:
Mark Sanchez finished the 2010 season with a career-high 3,291 yards, 17 touchdowns and 13 interceptions for a passer rating of 75.3 on
the season. He became only the second quarterback (Ben Roethlisberger 5, 2004-05) to start and win four postseason games in their first
two seasons in the NFL. Sanchez recorded a 127.3 passer rating on 16-of-25 passing for 194 yards and three touchdowns in the clubs win
at NE (1/16). It was the first time he has thrown three touchdown passes in a postseason game, and tied the club record for most in a single
postseason game. He led the Jets on a five-play, 40-yard game-winning drive, in which he completed all three of his passes for 38 yards in
the Wild Card victory at IND (1/8). The Jets win marked Sanchezs third postseason win, the most by any QB in franchise history. His six
career rushing touchdowns ties him for fourth amongst Jets quarterbacks in club history. In 2011, he has focused on improving his completion
percentage. In three preseason games, Sanchez completed 60.5% of his passes on 26-of-43 passing for 280 yards, 3 TD and 0 INT. Veteran
Mark Brunell signed with the Jets as a free agent (7/28/10). The three-time Pro Bowler missed the preseason due to injury. Fourth-year
veteran Kevin OConnell returns to the Jets after spending the 2011 training camp with the Miami Dolphins. OConnell originally joined the
Jets via a trade with DET in 2009, before eventually being waived (7/29/11).
Running Backs (5), Returning Starter (1)
Coach Anthony Lynn:
After spending two seasons as an understudy to Thomas Jones and LaDainian Tomlinson, Shonn Greene is slated to start at running back. In
preseason action, he averaged 4.6 yards a carry on 16 rushes. Greene finished the 2010 season with 766 yards and two touchdowns on 185
carries and added 70 yards on 19 carries in the Wild Card victory at IND (1/8). He registered his third postseason rushing touchdown, tied
for most in franchise history, when he raced 16 yards for the Jets final score of the game at NE (1/16). For his career, Greene has a 5.0 yardper-carry average, the best among Jets rushers all-time that have carried the ball at least 40 times. Tomlinson is expected to serve as the Jets
third-down back in 2010 after he led the team with 914 yards and six rushing touchdowns on 219 carries last season. His 52 receptions were
second on the team. He recorded the second-most productive postseason game of his career at IND (1/8) when he rushed for two touchdowns
and 82 yards on 16 carries (5.1 avg.). Second-year fullback John Conner enters 2011 as the starter after spending one season learning from
Tony Richardson. Known as The Terminator for his crushing blocks, Conner rushed for 44 yards and his first NFL touchdown on eight
carries in 2010 season finale vs. BUF (1/2). 2010 fourth-round selection out of USC, Joe McKnight, amassed a Jet season-high when he
rushed for 158 yards on 32 carries vs. BUF (1/2). He was the Jets leading rusher this preseason with 101 yards on 25 carries. Fourth-round
selection Bilal Powell has shown versatility and a powerful rushing style, recording 62 rushing yards, a touchdown and 29 receiving yards
on four receptions.
Wide Receivers (6), Returning Starters (1)
Coach Henry Ellard:
The lone starter returning in 2011 is Santonio Holmes. Since 1983, no NFL receiver has caught more touchdown passes (5) in the final 1:00
of 4th quarter/overtime (including playoffs) than Holmes. The Super Bowl XLIII MVP re-signed with the Jets this offseason and was named
captain by Coach Ryan. The new members of the Jets receiving corps are 10-year veteran Plaxico Burress, 2011 fifth-round selection Jeremy
Kerley and 15-year veteran Derrick Mason. Burress returns to the NFL since last seeing action in 2008. He saw his first action in Week
Two of the preseason vs. CIN (8/21) and recorded three catches for 66 yards, including a 26-yard touchdown reception. Kerley, the leading
candidate to replace Brad Smith in the Jets Wildcat package and recorded a rush, a pass attempt and a reception during the preseason. Mason
brings his 924 (fourth among active players) career receptions to New York, after spending six seasons with Baltimore. Mardy Gilyard, a
2010 fourth-round selection by SL, was claimed off of waivers (9/4) and joins the WR group this season. Young veteran Logan Payne rounds
out the receiving corps.
Tight Ends (3), Returning Starter (1)
Coach Mike Devlin:
Fourth-year Dustin Keller finished first on the team in receptions (55), and third in touchdowns (5) and receiving yards (687) last season.
Matthew Mulligan and former undrafted rookie free agent Jeff Cumberland have both seen action as extra tight ends this preseason. Cumberland led all Jet receivers with 11 receptions for 156 yards in the preseason, despite only seeing action in three games.
Offensive Line (9), Returning Starters (5)
Coach Bill Callahan:
In 2006, Jets General Manager Mike Tannenbaum focused on the offensive line, selecting LT DBrickashaw Ferguson fourth overall and C
Nick Mangold 29th overall in the NFL draft. The two players have started 80 consecutive games together, making them the only two players
who entered the league together to start their teams first 75 regular-season games on the same offensive line since 1970. Ferguson earned his
second-consecutive Pro Bowl nod for his play last season. He was also awarded 2010 Pro Football Weeklys Midseason All-Pro team honors,
2009 Pro Bowl honors and 2006 All-Rookie Team honors by Pro Football Weekly and the Pro Football Writers Association. During his first
four seasons, Mangold earned Associated Press All-Pro honors (09, 10), three consecutive Pro Bowl selections (08, 09, 10) and All-Rookie
recognition in 2006 as voted by Pro Football Weekly and the Pro Football Writers Association. Also on the offensive line is third-year LG
Matt Slauson, who earned the starting job after an impressive 2010 preseason and started every game last season. RG Brandon Moore
leads the group and has started 105 consecutive games for the Jets. RT Wayne Hunter who earned his first-career start at right tackle at PIT
(12/19) and also started at CHI (12/26) and vs. BUF (1/2). Hunter also started the clubs 28-21 win at NE (1/16) and the AFC Championship
game at PIT (1/23). Fourth-year C/G Robert Turner and second-year G/T Vladimir Ducasse provide depth. The Jets acquired G Caleb

OVERVIEW BY POSITION
Schlauderaff in a trade with Green Bay (9/3/11) and C Collin Baxter off of waivers from SD (9/4/11).
Defensive Line (6), Returning Starters (2)
Coach Mark Carrier and Jeff Weeks:
Led by veteran starter DT Mike DeVito (5th season) and defensive captain NT Sione Pouha (7th season), the Jets field a defensive line
with four players who have three-or-less years of experience. The group was infused with two draft selections this season, DE Muhammad
Wilkerson (first round, 30th overall) and NT Kenrick Ellis (third round, 94th overall). DeVito earned 11 starts and recorded 46 tackles in
2010. Pouha has started 29 games in the last two seasons for a defense that finished first overall in 2009 and fourth in 2010. He finished tied
for the most tackles among Jets defensive linemen with 46 and recovered a team-high three fumbles and had two sacks last season. Marcus
Dixon, who was awarded to the Jets off waivers (9/5/10) and registered his first-career sack when he dragged downed Bears QB Jay Cutler
at CHI (12/26), helps provide depth along with Ropati Pitoitua, who missed all of 2010 due to an injury.
Linebackers (8), Returning Starters (4)
Coach Bob Sutton:
Led by inside linebackers David Harris and Bart Scott and flanked by versatile linebackers Bryan Thomas and Calvin Pace, this unit allows
the Jets defense to be one of the most multiple in the league. Harris, was re-signed to a long-term deal this offseason after he led the team
in tackles for the third time in his four-year career with 119 tackles and registered three sacks, a FR and two passes defensed in 2010. Scott,
who is the tone-setter for the Jets defense, finished second on the team with 94 tackles, one sack, one forced fumble and one pass defensed.
The reliable Thomas finished with 41 tackles, a team-leading six sacks, one pass defensed, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. It
was the first time he led the team in sacks since 2006, when he recorded 8.5. Pace missed the first four games of 2010 due to an injury and
finished second on the team in sacks with 5.5. He recorded three sacks in the postseason. Second-year LB Josh Mauga has solidified himself
as the third inside linebacker after serving on special teams last season. Third-year man Jamaal Westerman provides depth on the outside
along with Garrett McIntyre. Filling in at the inside linebacker position is Nick Bellore, the clubs lone 2011 undrafted free agent to make
the team.
Defensive Backs (10), Returning Starters (4)
Coach Dennis Thurman and Jim ONeil
This group is led by All-Pro Darrelle Revis, who in the Wild Card victory at IND (1/8), held the AFCs leading receiver, Reggie Wayne
(111-1,355-6), to one catch for one yard. The secondary also returns starting S Jim Leonhard along with the safety tandem of Eric Smith
and Brodney Pool. Pool started 12 of the 2010 contests, but Smith, who started six games last year, will get the nod in 2011. CB Antonio
Cromartie, who this summer re-signed to a long-term deal with the Jets, is also back in the fold after finishing tied for the team lead with
three interceptions. Second-year cornerback and 2010 first-round selection Kyle Wilson, who earned starts in the first three games of the season as well as at CLV (11/14) and BUF (1/2) will be joined by Donald Strickland, a former Jet who spent 2010 with the San Diego Chargers
as nickel cornerbacks. The secondary is rounded out with young-veterans Marquice Cole, Emanuel Cook and Andrew Sendejo, who was
claimed off of waivers from DAL (9/4/11).
Specialists (3), Returning Starter (2)
Coach Mike Westhoff and Ben Kotwica
Kicker Nick Folk and long snapper Tanner Purdum are the only returners of the group. Last season, Folk was the leading scorer for the
team with 127 points, making 30-of-39 field goal attempts last season, including two game winners, in overtime at DET (11/7) and at IND
(1/8) in the AFC Wild Card playoff game. He also made all 37 PAT attempts. T.J. Conley entered his third training camp with the Jets and
has secured the punter job.

2011 PRESEASON HIGHLIGHTS

QUARTERBACK PLAY
Jets quarterbacks did not appear to have much rust, as they were sharp and efficient during the preseason. They combined for six touchdowns, while not throwing an interception. Overall, they completed 72-of-121 attempts for 742 yards, with a 93.8 passer rating. Starting QB
Mark Sanchez went 26-of-43 for 280 yards and posted a 102.8 rating while throwing for a team-high three touchdowns. Rookie QB Greg
McElroy completed 36-of-59 attempts for 335 yards, two touchdowns and a NFL rookie-best 87.9 QB rating.
PLAXICO RETURNS
WR Plaxico Burress returned to the field for the first time in 1,001 days when he suited up against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 2 of
the preseason. Burress wasted no time making an impact, as he caught three passes for 66 yards in the first half, including a 26-yard touchdown pass from Sanchez.
KERLEY SHOWS VERSATILITY
Fifth-round draft pick WR Jeremy Kerley showed he can be a jack-of-all-trades for the Jets. The rookie totaled 292 combined yards, as
a receiver, returner and Wildcat quarterback. He caught six passes for 55 yards as a receiver. As a returner, he averaged 28.3 yards per kick
return and 8.9 yards per punt return. In the Wildcat, Kerley completed his only pass, which went for 18 yards, and added five yards on the
ground.
GIVE AND TAKE
In four preseason games, the Jets posted a +6 turnover ratio, as the defense forced nine turnovers, and the offense surrendered the ball just
three times. S Jim Leonhard, who is returning from a broken leg that ended his 2010 season, led the defense with two interceptions.
YOUTH MOVEMENT ON THE D-LINE
The Jets hope that their top two draft picks, first-round DE Muhammad Wilkerson and third-round selection NT Kenrick Ellis will
make an impact on the defensive line in 2011. The two rookies helped slow down opponents running backs, as the Jets gave up just 2.9 yards
per carry in the preseason.

WR DERRICK MASON

Mason has faced the Cowboys four times in his career, including
once on Thanksgiving Day in 1997 as a member of the Tennessee Oilers, although he did not record any stats in that game. In
the three other contests, Mason put together 19 receptions for 279
yards (14.7 average) and two touchdowns. His best game against
Dallas came in a 2002 loss when he caught seven balls for 118
yards (16.9 average), although he also had a six-catch, 95-yard
(15.8 average), one touchdown performance on Christmas Day in
2000. In his most recent game against the Cowboys as a member
of the Baltimore Ravens in 2008, Mason grabbed six passes for 66
yards (11.0 average) and a touchdown in a victory, despite having
to leave the game twice due to aggravating a shoulder injury.

REX RYAN
RYAN=DEFENSE

Like most sons, Rex Ryan always knew he wanted to be in the family business. For the Ryans, the family business is stifling defense.
In 1985, his father, Buddy Ryan, led what is widely considered to
be the best defense in NFL history. Known simply as the 85 Bears,
Buddys unit allowed 12.6 points a game. For the season, they allowed 20 touchdowns (9 rushing, 10 passing and 1 on a return).
Rex has been a part of some of the NFLs best defenses himself. In
2000, he served as the defensive line coach for a Baltimore Ravens
team that allowed an NFL best 10.3 points a game. In 16 games, the
2000 Ravens allowed 18 touchdowns (5 rushing, 11 passing and 2
on returns). As a defensive coordinator in 2006, Rex matched his fathers 1985 feat allowing 12.6 points a game with the Ravens. Rexs
2006 team led the NFL in 11 categories: yards per game (264.1),
yards per play (4.51), rushing yard per game (75.9), rushing yards
per play (3.31), interception rate (5.5%), sacks per pass attempt
(11.79%), first downs per game (14.8), third-down conversions allowed (28.9%), red zone pct. (33.3%) and points allowed a game
(12.6).
In 2009, Rex returned the family business to the Jets, where his father earned his first NFL job. Rex took a defense that ranked 10th in
scoring for the 2008 season to the top of the NFL rankings in seven
categories: yards per game (252.3), yards per play (4.24), passing
yards a game (153.7), passing yards per play (4.91), first downs allowed (14.8), third-down conversions allowed (31.5%) and points
allowed (14.8).

AFFECTING THE QUARTERBACK

The Jets affect quarterbacks in more ways than just sacking them.
Since 2009, opposing passers have completed an NFL low 51.2%
of their passes while being sacked 72 times, which is tied for 12thmost over the span.
2010:
14 different Jets combined for 40 sacks, eight less than the NFL
leading Steelers with 48.

77.1 passer rating sixth in NFL

50.7 completion percentage best in NFL

2009:
10 different Jets combined for 32 sacks, 16 less than the NFL leading Vikings with 48.

58.8 passer rating best in NFL.

51.7 completion percentage best in NFL.

8 TD passes allowed best in NFL.

CAPTAINS
For the first time since becoming the Jets head coach, Rex Ryan has
named team captains. WR Santonio Holmes, NT Sione Pouha, CB
Darrelle Revis, QB Mark Sanchez and S Eric Smith will wear the
C on their jerseys for the 2011 season.
Coach Ryan had this to say about his selection of captains. It was
not voted on. This is something that I chose. I chose these guys based
on what I see on the practice field, the game field, the classroom,
their leadership, what they mean to their units, the pride and everything else. Thats what Im looking for in those individuals.

RYAN BOWL IX

Twin brothers Rex and Rob Ryan will be on opposite sidelines for the ninth time in their coaching careers. The brothers clashed for the first
time in 1987 when Rexs Eastern Kentucky Colonels defeated Robs Western Kentucky Hilltoppers, 20-10. The duos most recent matchup
came in 2010 when Rexs New York Jets defeated Robs Cleveland Browns, 26-20. Currently, Rex leads the series 5-3.
Sundays contest will mark the fourth time since the two became NFL coaches that they will face each other. In each contest, Rex, saw his
team defeat Rob.

DEFENSIVELY UNMATCHED

RYANS RULE OF THUMB

Since becoming the Defensive Coordinator with BLT prior the start
of the 2005 season, Coach Ryan has posted elite defensive numbers
in every major defensive category. Adding his numbers at BLT from
2005-08 to the Jets defensive numbers in his first two seasons as a
head coach, Ryan ranks first in total defense, passing defense, thirddown percentage defense, third in scoring defense and fourth in turnovers forced and rushing defense.

Rooted in his Ground-and-Pound philosophy, Coach Ryan believes that the team that wins will have more runs plus completions
in the game. Since he took over at the start of the 2009 season, here is
how the Jets have fared in the runs plus completions battle.

COORDINATORS
PETTINE PRIOR
In 2005, Mike Pettine was promoted from Coaching Assistant/Quality Control to Outside Linebackers Coach in Baltimore, the same
season that current Jets Head Coach Rex Ryan was named the Ravens Defensive Coordinator. Together, the two oversaw a defense
that ranked in the top five in almost every defensive category from
2005 to 2008 when both left for the Jets.
Top Five Ranks in Baltimore (2005-08)
1st in First Downs Allowed (999)

PERFORMING UNDER PETTINE

Since becoming the Jets Defensive Coordinator, Pettine has continued to oversee top ranked defenses.

1st in Points Allowed (14.8) 2009
2nd in Fumble Recovery (21) 2010
David Harris (NYJ 09-)
In two seasons under Pettine, Harris has led the team in tackles with
119 (2010) and 142 (2009).
Calvin Pace (NYJ 09- )
In Paces first season with Pettine as Defensive Coordinator, he posted a career-high with 8.0 sacks in just 12 games played.
Sione Pouha (NYJ 09- )
In two seasons under Pettine, Bo has become a stalwart in the middle of the Jets defense. He has enjoyed his two highest tackle totals
61 (2009) and 46 (2010). Pouha also recorded his first two full sacks
of his career in 2010.
Terrell Suggs (BLT 05-08)
In four seasons under Pettine, Suggs posted his four highest tackle
totals, collected four of his five career interceptions and posted three
seasons of at least eight sacks, leading the team in sacks twice.
Adalius Thomas (BLT 05-06)
Thomas enjoyed his two best seasons in his only two seasons with
Pettine when he notched 9.0 sacks in 2005 and 11.0 sacks in 2006.

SCHOOLED BY SCHOTTY

Drew Brees (SD 02-05)

Schottenheimer arrived in San Diego for Brees second season and
quickly became a large part of his development with 2002 marking
his first season as a starting quarterback. In four seasons with Schotty, Brees averaged over 3,000 yards a season, completing 62.3% of
his passes and compiling an 84.7 passer rating.
Chad Pennington (NYJ 06-07)
Schottenheimers first season with the Jets coincided with the return
of Chad Pennington from a season-ending injury the year before. Under Schottys direction, Pennington posted a then career-best 3,352
yards passing, completing 64.5% of his passes for an 82.6 passer rating. Pennington also took home Comeback Player of the Year honors
as he keyed a Jet return to the postseason.
Thomas Jones (NYJ 07-09)
Jones was considered a journeyman for the earlier part of his career
after spending his first seven seasons in the league with three different teams. In that time, he averaged 769.1 yards and 4.9 touchdowns
per season. In 2007, he was acquired by the Jets in an offseason trade
and instantly became an integral part of Coach Schottenheimers offense. In three seasons under Schotty, Jones averaged 1,277.7 yards
rushing and 9.3 rushing touchdowns a season and set career-highs in
rushing yards and rushing touchdowns in 2008.
Dustin Keller (NYJ 08-)
Keller, the Jets 2008 first-round pick, quietly had the best first two
seasons by a tight end in club history catching 93 passes, the most
by a Jets tight end in their first two NFL seasons. In the 2010 season,
Keller led the team in receptions with 55 for 687 yards and 5 touchdowns. Under Schottenheimer, Keller has become a go-to player
with 174 career catches for 2,046 yards and 13 touchdowns.
Mark Sanchez (NYJ 09- )
Sanchez, the Jets 2009 first-round pick, was chosen to direct Schottenheimers offense. Since then, Sanchez finished his sophomore
season with a career high of 3,291 yards, 17 touchdowns, 13 interceptions and a passer rating of 75.3, making him the second youngest
Jets quarterback to pass for over 3,000 yards. He is also the youngest
quarterback in NFL history to throw eight touchdown passes and no
interceptions during the first five games of the season. During Sanchezs two consecutive playoff runs, he led the Jets to a club record
of four road victories, and tied the record for the most postseason
road wins in the NFL. Additionally, he tied the club record for the
most postseason touchdown passes in a single game with three.

WONDERFUL WORLD OF WESTHOFF

No team in the league has had more kickoff return touchdowns since Mike Westhoffs tenure with the Jets began in 2001. Since then, the
Jets have scored 14 times on kickoff returns. Perhaps even more remarkable than the fact that the Jets lead the league with 14 scores, is that
those scores have come from six different players. Leon Washington (4), Justin Miller (3), Brad Smith (3), Chad Morton (2), Jerricho
Cotchery (1) and Jonathan Carter (1) have all brought a kick back for a score under Westy.

JETS OFFENSIVE NOTES

ON THE MARK

QB Mark Sanchez has taken the New York Jets to the AFC Championship game in each of his first two seasons. It is Sanchezs postseason prowess that has propelled the Jets to four postseason victories
over the last two years, all of which were on the road. In defeating
the Cincinnati Bengals (1/9/10), San Diego Chargers (1/17/10), Indianapolis Colts (1/8/11) and New England Patriots (1/16/11), Sanchez has delivered in the difficult month of January. He ranks seventh
all-time in NFL history for passer rating among all quarterbacks in
their first six postseason starts, with a rating of 94.3. Out of all the
quarterbacks listed below, only Sanchez made his first six postseason
starts in his first two NFL seasons.

QB Mark Sanchez was one of five players chosen as team captains

for 2011 by Head Coach Rex Ryan. Despite being only 24 years old,
he has assumed a leadership role both on and off the field with the
New York Jets. Sanchez is tied for the second-most victories by any
quarterback in his first two seasons in the NFL, including the postseason. Only Ben Roethlisbergers 27 victories in his first two seasons
were more than Sanchezs 23 wins with the Jets over the past two
years. Four of Sanchezs 23 victories have been in the postseason.

MEET THE OFFENSIVE LINE

In 2010, the New York Jets rushing attack finished fourth in the NFL,
averaging 4.4 yards per an attempt and 148.4 yards a game. In 2009,
the club finished the season leading the NFL in rushing, averaging
4.5 yards a carry and 172.3 yards a game. In six postseason games
during the last two seasons, the line has allowed the Jets to average 130.8 yards rushing a game. It is the most by any team that has
played more than two postseason games during the span.
LT DBrickashaw Ferguson, selected 4th overall in the 2006 NFL
Draft, earned his 2nd Pro Bowl appearance in 2010. Named to
the All-Rookie Team by Pro Football Weekly and the Pro Football Writers Association in 06.
LG Matt Slauson, originally selected in the sixth round of the 2009
NFL Draft. He earned a starting position last summer on a unit
that helped the Jets lead the NFL in rushing last season.
C Nick Mangold, a three-time Pro Bowl selection, earned firstteam All-Pro honors in 2009-10. Selected in the first round of
the 2006 NFL Draft (29th overall), Mangold has started every
game of his career.
RG Brandon Moore has helped pave the way for two of the Jets
three-best rushing seasons. In 2009, the club rushed for a franchise-best 2,756 yards, while the teams 2004 total of 2,388
ranks third-best in team history. In those seasons, he blocked for
two rushing champions: Curtis Martin (1,697, 2004 NFL rushing
title) and Thomas Jones (1,312, 2008 AFC rushing title). Originally joined the Jets as an undrafted FA defensive tackle in 2002.
Moved to guard during the 2003 offseason and earned the starting right guard position in 2004.
RT Wayne Hunter made his first start at tackle in place of an injured Damien Woody at PIT (12/19). He went on to make starts
at CHI (1/26) and vs. BUF (1/2) prior to Woodys return in the
clubs Wild Card game at IND (1/8). After Woody suffered an
injury in the Wild Card game, Hunter started the Jets final two
postseason games. A former third-round selection in the 2003
NFL Draft by SEA, he had seen action as a tight end and sparingly at tackle since joining the Jets on the practice squad on
12/26/07.

75 SINCE 2006

In 2006, Jets General Manager Mike Tannenbaum focused on the

offensive line selecting LT DBrickashaw Ferguson fourth overall
and C Nick Mangold 29th overall in the NFL draft. The two players
have started 80 consecutive regular season games together, making
them the only two players who entered the league together to start
their teams first 75 regular-season games on the same offensive line
since 1970. Ferguson has earned 2010 Pro Football Weeklys Midseason All-Pro team honors, 2009 and 2010 Pro Bowl honors and

DUSTIN KELLER IN PERSPECTIVE

Since being selected in the first round of the 2008 NFL Draft, TE
Dustin Keller has quietly had the best first three seasons by a tight
end in club history. Despite working with two quarterbacks in his
three seasons (Brett Favre 08 & Mark Sanchez 09-10), Keller has
caught 148 passes for 1,744 yards, the most by a Jets tight end in
their first three NFL seasons.

Free agent acquisition WR Plaxico Burress showed no signs of rust

in the Jets home preseason opener against the Cincinnati Bengals. In
the 27-7 win, Burress caught three passes for 66 yards and a touchdown. His return came 1,001 days after he last played as a member

of the Giants at ARZ (11/23/08).

Of his 61 career touchdown receptions (regular and postseason combined), 20 have come from 31 yards or longer.

MASON 60+ AND 750+

Entering his 14th season, WR Derrick Mason has been one of the
most consistent receivers in league history. Before joining the Jets
on August 7, he compiled eight 1,000-yard seasons, while averaging
66 receptions and 849 yards per season, and 80 receptions and 1026
yards per season since becoming a full-time starter in 2000.
In addition to his consistency, Mason brings durability, having
missed just six regular-season games in his career.
This year, Mason can become the first player in NFL history to record 60-plus catches and 750-plus receiving yards in 12 consecutive
seasons. He currently is tied with two other players at 11 straight 60750 seasons Hall of Fame WR Jerry Rice and TE Tony Gonzalez.
Among active wide receivers he ranks first in receiving yards
(11,891), second in receptions (924) and tied for third in receiving
touchdowns (66). (NOTE: List does not include WRs Terrell Owens
or Joey Galloway who are not currently signed.)

TONE TIME

Living up to his reputation of making key plays at big moments, WR

Santonio Holmes caught his second game-winning touchdown pass
in as many weeks from QB Mark Sanchez vs. HST (11/21). The
score, with 10 seconds remaining, gave the club a 30-27 victory. He
finished the game with his second 100-yard receiving game (7-1262) in three weeks. His first came at DET (11/7), when he caught five
passes for 114 yards.
One week earlier at CLV (11/14), Holmes caught a Sanchez throw
and raced 37 yards for the game-winning touchdown, his first score
as a Jet, with 16 seconds remaining in overtime. It was the fourth
game that season that Holmes made the key play that led to a game
winning score. Week Nine at DET (11/17), Holmes took a pass 52
yards to setup K Nick Folks game-winning 30-yard field goal. At
DEN (10/17), he drew a 46-yard pass interference penalty to setup
RB LaDainian Tomlinsons game-winning touchdown.
For the season, Holmes totaled 52 receptions for 746 yards (14.3

CB Darrelle Revis capped the 2010 season with his third-consecutive Pro Bowl selection and second-straight All-Pro nod. Widely
considered one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL, Revis numbers
the last two seasons have illustrated why opposing quarterbacks
rarely pay a visit to Revis Island. In his two seasons under Head
Coach Rex Ryan, Revis has posted the lowest burn percentage* of
any cornerback in the league and is tied for the highest percentage of

OPPOSING PASSERS VS. THE JETS

Since 2009, opposing quarterbacks have been held to just a 68.2
passer rating, which ranks second in the NFL during that period.
In 2009, NFL quarterbacks posted a league-worst 58.8 passer
rating against New York.
In Rex Ryans two seasons as head coach of the Jets, quarterbacks have converted just 51.2% of passes, the lowest completion percentage during that span.

JETS 2010 SECONDARY BY STARTS

SACKS BY PACE

MUHAMMAD WILKERSON

LB Calvin Pace finished the 2010 season just 0.5 sacks behind Jets
sack leader LB Bryan Thomas with 5.5, despite missing the first four
games due to injury. For the season, he finished with 55 tackles. It is
the second-consecutive season that he has missed the first four games
of the schedule. Pace led the Jets in sacks in both 2008 (7) and 2009
(8). In the last game of the season vs. BUF (1/2), Pace recorded the
second interception of his career along with a sack, three PD, three
QHs and a tackle.
Pace continued his sack production in the postseason, taking down
Peyton Manning in the Wild Card game (1/8 at IND), dropping Tom
Brady in the Divisional game (1/16 at NE) and capping the postseason with a seven-yard sack of Ben Roethlisberger (1/23 at PIT).
For his career, Pace has recorded 34.5 sacks, 20.5 since joining the
Jets in 2008. He has also recorded 14 forced fumbles, nine since
joining the club.

SMITH BLOCKS IT

Jets General Manager Mike Tannenbaum made it a point of emphasis

to get younger on the defensive front this season, electing to draft local
product, DL Muhammad Wilkerson, who prepped at Linden HS, in the
first round. Wilkerson played collegiately at Temple, the same school as
legendary Jets defensive lineman Joe Klecko.
Wilkerson is expected to start Opening Day at defensive end for the
Jets, the first time a rookie has started in New Yorks base defense in
Week One since Dwight Lowery started at cornerback in 2008, and the
first rookie to start for a Rex Ryan defense on Opening Day since DT
Haloti Ngata and SS Dawan Landry. Both players started under Ryan
in Baltimore in 2006, while he served as the defensive coordinator for
the Ravens.

D-LINEMEN UNDER REX

The Jets drafted Muhammad Wilkerson in the first round (30th overall) and Kenrick Ellis in the third round (94th overall) in the 2011
NFL Draft, adding to an already strong defensive line. Throughout
the course of Head Coach Rex Ryans coaching career, hes been
able to produce prolific defensive linemen. Ryan coached the Arizona Cardinals defensive line in 1994, the Baltimore Ravens defensive
line from 1999-2004, then became the Ravens defensive coordinator
from 2005-2008 before taking the helm of the New York Jets in 2009.
During those seasons, Ryans defensive linemen have produced 177
sacks and been selected to four Pro Bowls and three All-Pro teams.
While some of Ryans linemen have been first-round draft picks, others were greeted with less fanfare coming out of college.

S Eric Smith has become an invaluable member of Mike Westhoffs

special teams unit, ranking second on the team with 15 special teams
tackles. Eric Smith is called upon for a big play from time-to-time.
For the second time in two seasons, Smith blocked a punt attempt
when he got to Brandon Fields in the third quarter at MIA (9/26/10),
allowing the Jets to take over possession at the Miami 17-yard line.
Smiths first blocked punt came last season when he blocked a Chris
Hanson punt that Brad Smith scooped up for a four-yard touchdown
at NE (11/22/09). Smith also blocked a Matt Dodge punt in the preseason against the Giants (8/16/10).
