Lynx-Tsunami Calculator Version 2.4.

3 (formal release)

Welcome to another new version of the 'Lynx-Tsunami' Calculator!

This version of the calculator modify the list of supported devices found in version 2.4.2. Please refer to the release notes history, provided as the last tab to this tool. Additional information is available there. Issues Fixed: 1. None Device Added: 1. Tsunami GX200 5.8GHz in the 'Lynx & Tsunami PTP' Device Removed: 1. Tsunami MP11 2411 and 5054 (moved to MP1x calculator) Notes: A. You may get 'alarms' from Excel that mention that macros are disabled. To avoid these alarms, simply mouse to the next cell of interest rather than pressing the 'Enter' key to type information into cells. B. If you would like to receive automatic updates to the calculator, go to http://support.proxim.com, then go to the knowledgebase, search by answer ID, and enter '1846' in the search bar. If you have registered into the support system, you can select 'Notify Me by Email if this Answer is Updated'. I hope you enjoy the new calculator. Please be sure to report any suspected bugs and feature requests to:

Important Note: The provided calculations are not a guarantee of link performance. The data is provided in order to assist with the design of a wireless link using a Lynx or Tsunami product. The calculated performance may be useful for comparison with the actual system when installed. These calculations assume an unobstructed line-of-site radio path with adequate clearance for antenna height above terrain and obstructions. The availability and outage results are based on the industry-standard formulae and use the manufacturer's specified performance for transmitter output power, receiver threshold, and antenna gain. Standard factors apply for the terrain type and current climate conditions, assuming no unusual or multipath propagation.

This chart indicates clearances required over path obstructions at various points along a path. A radio line-of-sight path requires the clearances shown above in addition to those required for a visual line-of-sight path. Beyond a given point, higher is not necessarily better! An antenna height which provides excessive path clearance can also create problems related to path reflections and other reliability affecting anomalies.

This sheet provides a brief synopsis of release history for this program.
Current Release: 2.4.3 Added Tsunami GX200 to the 'Lynx & Tsunami PTP' tab. Removed MP11 and MP11a tab. Transfered to separate MP1x calculator Past Releases: 2.4.2 Fixed bug from v2.4 and v2.4.1 where 5.3 GHz Tsunami GX.90 calculation was not properly applying EIRP limits. Added 'Release History' tab to track changes. Proxim website now also allows automatic e-mail notification of updates.' Fixed errors from 2.4.1 where specifications of 5054 (MP.11a) were not programmed correctly. 2.4.1 Fixed errors from v2.4 where specifications of 5054 (MP.11a) were not programmed correctly. This version allows user to select 'Standard' or 'Rugged' version for each end, and properly applies the specifications for each (as they are different from one another). Fixed bug from v2.4 where specifications for several GX radios added to the 'Lynx & Tsunami PTP' tab were not being properly applied. Fixed bug from v2.4 where a false alarm could be generated on MP.11a tab. Alarm could improperly inform that minimum TPC value was reached (and EIRP was exceeded), in conditions where it may not have been. 2.4 Added a new MP.11a tab including the selection of the integrated antenna of the 'Rugged' version. Added several new GX models to the 'Lynx & Tsunami PTP' tab. Evaluated 'QuickBridge 20-60' tab for new QB-II models. No changes needed. Created new fade margin alarm tool using a new formula for determining minimum acceptible fade margin. Applied to all sheets. 2.3 Fixed bug from v.2.2 where humidity and climate selections for the 'MP.11' tab were not working properly. Fixed bugs from v2.2 where metric elements of the 'Generic Calculator' tab were not calculating properly. Fixed bug from all previous versions where a minor mathematical mistake was made on the 'Path Clearance' tab. 2.2 Fixed bug from all previous 2.x versions where 'Alternate EIRP' selection on the 'Lynx & Tsunami PTP' tab was not working properly.

Fixed bug from all previous 2.x versions where selection of 'Alternate Transmission Line' on Site A in meters (on the 'Lynx & Tsunami PTP' tab), was not working properly. Added new tabs (that had previously been included in 1.x versions) including 'Generic Calculator', 'Passive Repeater 2nd Leg', 'Payback Calculator', and 'Metric Path Clearance'. Added ETSI EIRP limits to 'QuickBridge', 'Lynx & Tsunami PTP', and 'Tsunami MP' tabs. Added new features on all tabs to check distance and minimum fade margin. Added new tab for Tsunami MP.11 (2.4 GHz). 2.1 Added EIRP features for the 'Tsunami MP' and 'QuickBridge' tabs
