Dear Editor,
A scholar asked: “Why is it that not throwing garbage on rivers and creeks seem an
“impossible” task for people victimized by “other essential words are for granted”
syndrome perhaps caused by monopoly of beliefs?” …then the S.I. or Smart Intelligence
after searching on question/answer data base answered: “not throwing garbage on creek
in spite of rules or law is really an “impossible” task because the control center of actions
of the man which is the brain has “no other essential words” to control him not to throw
garbage on the creek or river instead only “excuses,” “conceitedness,” “self
righteousness”, “proud claim” because he/she has already a “word” or “few good words”
more powerful than any other “essential words” and he/she is already a member of the
“only” true and right group. Perhaps he/she is a product of “mass produced” where
particular group concentrate on having plenty of member than concentrating more on
supervising and disciplining member/s to be good contributor/s to society even through
small things- example by not throwing garbage on drainage systems, creeks and on
rivers.
But, science and stiffer law could still solve the problem on any extreme using
balancing tactic or common sense tactic of any extreme. Example of extreme: about
clogging cause by garbage on drainage system, creeks, and rivers. Perhaps create system
to remove the thrown garbage by people having “wrong mind set” either by automation
or by constant manning or manual removing of garbage caught at those “check valves” at
outlets & “strainers/garbage screen or inclined grills” and “cylindrical garbage screener”.
I think automation is better. Perhaps place relay- a switch that when water is not
flowing thru example a “cylindrical garbage screener” located at various strategic point
accessible to garbage collection, or is clogged, the “cylindrical garbage screener” would
rotate automatically and would bring up those pieces of garbage. When those pieces of
garbage are up, or most of the time those garbage will freely fall and could be caught and
could be led to a conveyor that could gather the collected garbage into a container...
Those pieces of garbage that did not freely fall during the rotation would be removed
either manually from time to time. Or create a system that the garbage could be removed
automatically either by vibration or by a pusher or by a remover embedded on the inner
part of the cylindrical garbage screener. Then if the clogs were removed, the water could
be freely drained or be pumped out.
Perhaps just inclined and angled set of grills like a pointed divider inclined set of grill
or screen where the pushing and congesting of garbage could let the first batch of garbage
be carried up or be set aside into two, and the congested garbage could be collected
because another buckets are just waiting on both sides to be filled and be full and letting
the water pass through or the water could be pumped out, then perhaps the system could
be more practical.
For clog canals, instead of cylindrical strainer, a bucket or metal basket should scrape
silts & waste thru manually or automatically operated cable back & forth until all the silts
and garbage are transported either with the water flowing or lifting them up the ground. It
is better to clean channels and unclog drainage during heavy rain because you can use the
water flowing. Just shaking of the silts, the silts would flow with the water and garbage
could be gathering at strainers that could easily be collected. But only brave and cautious
professional cleaner/s should be allowed with hazard pay and insurance, because it’s a
dangerous job.
Perhaps make a task force do the job every time there is heavy rain; it is better than
doing nothing to check the extreme caused by garbage’s clogging. During dry days,
repair & placing of system is better. But cleaning should be regularly and religiously
done, specially repairing garbage grills and/or opening of drainage systems so that
garbage would not enter thru the drainage system.”
A scholar asked: “I saw a very blackish river and the odor is not good, could you give
suggestions how the river could be returned to its good condition?” …then the S.I.
answered: “Perhaps the blackish colors are pollutants and the bad odor is caused by those
materials decaying. 1) Perhaps pass a law that all outlets or openings for drainage be it
household, industrial should all be classified or registered along the river or creek with
tag number or serial number and what kind of waste are disposed on those outlets. 2) Pass
law that all kitchen sink should have “smart waste chopper” so that it could create
another consumables that could boost people to be active and sensitive to the start of
problems. Those waste materials from the kitchen should be chopped or be turned into
small pieces so that decaying is faster and could not cause clogging along the drainage
and sewer system. Perhaps the next generation of “smart waste chopper” would be “smart
waste biogas producer.” 3) Pass law that all drainage outlets from households and
industries should have a standardized “mini water treatment” so that only filtered “clean”
water could be disposed. Those used oil, and hazardous chemicals and poisonous
chemicals or decaying materials should be trapped and could be gathered and be disposed
properly. Perhaps next generation…would be “smart mini water treatment”. 4) Pass law
that all water going out from any private or public building or office could be randomly
check for allowable presence of harmful chemicals or pollutants; and the owner could
easily be fined just like when violating traffic rule through mail. 5) Pass law that drainage
screens or strainers should be made of durable plastics or cast iron mix with lead to last
for a long time. Iron grill should be banned as strainers or screen because they just last for
a while. And if the iron grill is destroyed, all the garbage could easily pass thru the
drainage and eventually clog the drainage and flash flood occurs. And silt would not be
washed out because it is clog. It is because those screens design to stop the garbage are
destroyed. Next generation of garbage screen could be ‘smart garbage screens or grills’.
Specifics: Perhaps, “kitchen waste chopper” is just a 4” diameter gadget with a water
proof electric motor to drive and turn three blade sharp propellers so that anything that
could be chopped or turned to pieces could easily be chopped. Perhaps if a metal would
pass through the sharp propellers, the gadget might be destroyed and the owner should
replace the gadget. When seems permanent things could become consumables perhaps
another economic cycle or economic stimulus could be created or could also give
employment to people and create another cycle of cash because of its being consumable
in nature. General principle behind to check too much specifics: The key to have a higher
standard of living is activeness, creativities, and more stimuli to create cash. So if people
would buy a “kitchen waste chopper” and encouraged by law another contributing thing
could cause man to have a higher standard of living.
Perhaps the next generation of “kitchen waste chopper” could be “smart waste biogas
producer.” The chopped waste materials from the kitchen are deposited on a digestion
chamber so that bacteria could decompose and change the materials into biogas. The
principle of a ‘concrete mixer machine’ would be used so the all decomposable materials
could be changed into methane gas evenly. And a sensor would sense if there is now
accumulation of biogas. And from time to time, another sensor would let a pump run and
deposit the biogas on a tank that could supply methane for cooking. And after sensing
that the decomposed chopped materials are no longer generating methane gas, an opening
will let those materials be replaced by new decomposable chopped materials just waiting
from another chamber. Since time element of decomposing could let materials wait and
could result to bottle neck, a system would analyze if another chamber or a series of
chambers would be needed by just opening and closing valves; all activities would be
automated. Perhaps if the space would be bulky inside the kitchen, the system should be
placed outside and let those human manures be also changed into methane gas.
With regards to “mini water treatment,” perhaps it could be standardized and could be
pre-fabricated using plastics and could easily be installed at any drainage outlets. It is
designed to let oil be trapped and screened garbage. It is just using the principle where oil
floats and stays above the water. The separation of oil from the water could let a sensor
sense that there is oil being accumulated thus could be pumped out by a mini pumped
automatically and placed on a separate tank that when tank reserve for waste oil is full, an
alarm will alert the owner to throw the waste oil on designated places. Or the
accumulated waste oil could be processed to be reusable again.
Perhaps the next generation…is the “smart mini water treatment and smart garbage
screens or grills”. They are just improvised mini water treatment or garbage screens or
grills where latest available technology is used so that the device is always active and
functioning well because it could communicate if it needs to be repaired or to be cleaned
or replaced.
Principle behind or to check too much specifics: If ordinary people were not
contented to just drink ordinary water but want bottled water and continue consuming
bottled water then perhaps people should not be contented that their creek, river, air are
always polluted, or dirty; there is no beauty or there is/are no life around like fishes in
rivers and birds in air and in trees. People should do something to check the extremes
being created from the start that could boost creativities and activeness or words in
actions. The opposite is less words-less actions.
People should imitate Hollanders; their national hero is a child who even put his/her
life in danger just to plug a small leak using his finger; he was sensitive to the start of the
problem or start of chaos even perhaps sacrificing his life.
Government leaders and religious good leaders should do something to wake up
people to notice first small things before thinking of big things. Perhaps placing smart
camera wired to the city mayor’s office or county’s office or police’s office along prone
garbage creeks and rivers is a small task. And sending warning letters, penalty letters to
suspected people caught by the camera is perhaps common sense or balancing tactic.”
