Senior Project Outline

Slide I
• My goal is to enter a school to further develop my skills in Graphic arts and or
visual art development by training to become a Game designer.
• Education needed for a job as a Graphic artist bachelor’s degree is required for
most entry-level and advanced graphic design positions; although some entry-
level technical positions may only require an associate degree. Also secondary
training in graphic design, creativity, and communication skills are nice to
have. Graphic designers also need to be familiar with computer graphics and
design software.

Slide II
• The median salary for a Graphic artist (in the US) is $43,758 as stated by
salary.com but other wages vary from $20,000 to at least $50,000 depending on
experience, job, and what type of media is being worked on.
• Each type of jobs pays differently but usually 3 out of 10 artists are free-lance
or either work in a small environment with only a few other members.

I. The Savannah College of Art and Design

• Is close to home and family and offers what I want.
• A portfolio must be submitted using either a power point presentation or
slide/CD showing elements of art combined with typography with either
program such as Photoshop, Indesign, Quark, etc. SAT and ACT score also
required.
• $24,390 for a full time student tuition (undergrad) and $6,960 for apartment
style (separate bedroom and meal plan)
• Graphic design techniques, Publication Graphics and Package design.
• Admissions end date is unknown since I plan to attend in 09.

II. School of the Art Institute of Chicago

• Is far away form home and also offers what I want as well as helps me explore
my country a bit more.
• A portfolio must be submitted using either a power point presentation or
slide/CD showing elements of art combined with typography with either
program such as Photoshop, Indesign, Quark, etc. Must have at least 1o images
in slide. SAT and ACT score also required but is not a huge deciding factor.

• $28,950 for 30 full credit hours, single housing $9,150 at Chicago building and
$11,200 at North state residence.
• Computer imaging and interactive media.
• Admissions end date is unknown since I plan to attend in 09.

• Academic honors scholarship: awarded to any student who gets a score of 1100
or above. Ranges from $1,500 to $10,000
• Frances Larkin McCommon Scholarship: Awarded to any student who shows
superior portfolio/ artistic skills or who has become a finalist in the Arts ARTS
week competition.
• William Randolph Hearst Foundation scholarship: Awarded to any minority
student who maintains at least a 3.0 and completes 45 credit hours by
spring.($7,500)
