CREDIT SUISSE Job Description Asia Pacific Equity Global Arbitrage Trading 6-month Internship

The Group Global Arbitrage Trading (GAT) is the arbitrage activity of Credit Suisse. As a significant global market participant, GAT researches, develops, and administers a wide variety of quantitative trading strategies. In the dynamic and highly competitive capital markets, the main challenge is to constantly improve upon existing models and expand into new and diverse trading areas. The Program The work will vary according to the desk you are assigned to within the group, but includes being given a specific project for the length of your internship which you will work on individually. This may involve historical analysis of markets and companies, completion and optimization of a statistical trading model, developing new analytical models of markets, updating existing models, database creation, scenario testing plus automation of general tasks relevant to the group. Ideally, you should be able to use models, understand their limitations, discuss them with the relevant audience and tailor them to the relevant market conditions. You must be able to interact and communicate with people in GAT under tight deadlines and changing conditions. Youll be provided with on-the-job training and given specific training for the project that you are assigned during your time with Credit Suisse. Its an opportunity to gain first-hand experience of quantitative modeling and/or development work in arbitrage trading at a top tier investment bank. Opportunities available in Hong Kong. Qualifications You will have, or be studying to obtain, a PhD or Masters Degree in a quantitative field such as Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, or Quantitative Finance. Youll need advanced analytical, quantitative, statistical and problem solving skills. Programming experience and exposure to algorithms is generally essential for certain areas. Prior knowledge of finance is not required; however, you should have a genuine interest in the area. For some areas in the group a high degree of fluency in one or more C++, C#, R and Excel VBA is essential.
