DBMS PROJECT

FASTFOOD24X7.COM

This Document contains the overview of our website fastfood24x7.com. It briefly describes the designand various developmental tools being used.

INTRODUCTION
Fastfood24x7.com
The topic of our project is an online fast food delivery portal called fastfood24x7.com. Today we have many fast food chains like KFC, McDonalds, Pizza Hut etc. providing a large selection of fast foods. Our aim is to combine the services of all these enterprises into one single portal for the customer. This would result in more business for the companies as it would provide the customer to order from multiple brands at the same time from the same place. We have selected KFC, McDonalds and Pizza Hut as our providers since they cater to different segments in the fast food market.

Fastfood24x7 to the front-end user

The front-end user will have at his service a robust user interface which would also be intuitive and easy to use. It would provide a visual description of the items available on the menu as well as a choice of add-ons and toppings. The latest special offer by each food chain would also be available to the user. The user would also have different payment options available to him like Credit Card, Debit Card and internet banking. Our online transaction system would also be secure so that vital private information is not misused.

The site administrator will have at his service a wide set of tools which help in site development and maintenance. We will be using MySQL as our database management system. MySQL is compatible with all major web servers. It is also free and open-source thus giving it an edge in terms of security. It is also proven to be faster than most other competing database clients. For development of the website we will be using HTML and CSS. Also we will be using flash applets to give the site a better look and feel by providing flash based animations. We will also be using jQuery. jQuery is a cross-browser JavaScript library designed to simplify the

client-side scripting of HTML. jQuery's syntax is designed to make it easier to navigate a document, select DOM elements, create animations, handle events For server side scripting we will be using PHP. PHP is a scripting language used to provide dynamic content in web pages. PHP stands for PHP Hypertext Processor. When a .php file is sent by the server the web browser processes it and replaces the PHP with valid HTML Code. PHP is free and supported extensively on most web browser thus making it our choice for a scripting language. We will be using Apache as our web server. Apache supports a variety of features, many implemented as compiled modules which extend the core functionality. These can range from server-side programming language support to authentication schemes. Some common language interfaces support Perl, Python, Tcl, and PHP. Popular authentication modules include mod_access, mod_auth, mod_digest, and mod_auth_digest, the successor to mod_digest. A sample of other features include SSL and TLS support (mod_ssl), a proxy module (mod_proxy), a URL rewriter (also known as a rewrite engine, implemented under mod_rewrite), custom log files (mod_log_config), and filtering support (mod_include and mod_ext_filter).
