escalator going down when 15 steps
below him Sumit started walking
down

at a speed 3 times that of
escalator. On reaching the landing,
he immediately started walking
upwards meeting Dhawal at an
exact point where he had started
walking down. How many steps
further down from this spot is the
landing.

Solution:
 Time = distance / speed.
 Dhawal = 15 / 1 (let us assume speed of escalator
is 1)
 Sumit’s speed is 3 times escalator. Thus
 Sumit has travelled with 3+1 = 4 speed, and
returned by 3-1 = 2 speed. Let us assume that
Sumit went down X steps and came up X steps.
 15/1 = x / 4 + X/2
 15 = (x +2x )/ 4 or 3X = 60 or X = 20. Thus landing
is 20 steps below. Answer.

 What is the maximum possible
different between 2 four digits made
by any 4 digits (no repeatition in one
number) . The first three digits are
divisible by 3 & last 3 digits are
divisible by 4. ?
 Such numbers can be 9876 & 1024.
Their differece is 8852, so this is answer.
We cant find bigger number or smaller
number than these (as per given
conditions). 987 and 102 are divisible by
3 & 876 & 024 are divisible by 4.

A+B+C =3. what is the maximum
value of (A^2 +2AB+ 3) +(B^2+2AC-3)
+(C^2+2 BC+3)?
 Solvingthe equation, we get (A^2 +b^2 +
c^2 +2AB+2BC+2ac) +3
 We get (A+B+C)^2 +3

 We get (3)^2 +3

 =9+3

 =12 answer.

 From a 3:5 solution of milk and
water, 20% is taken out and
replaced by milk. How many times
should this process be done to make
the ratio of milk to water as 17:8?

 Now milk is 3/8 & water is 5/8. desired level of milk is 17/25
and water is 8 /25.
 In all such questions, we have to solve it using the base of
stable items / reducing items.
 5/8 ((1-20/100)^n = 8/25.
 5/8 * 80/100 ^n = 8/25
 4/5^n = 8/25*8/5
 4/5^n = 64/125
 4/5 ^3 = 64/125 = so answer is 3 times. Answer.
