2010-2011 HELICON GENERAL STAFF APPLICATION APPLICATION DUE OCTOBER 2ND AT MIDNIGHT

email to nuhelicon@gmail.com Interviews will be held Oct. 3-6

HELICON IS Northwesterns official student-run literary magazine. We publish art, poetry, fiction, music, video and other original student works biannually. We also organize campus literary events and open mics. The Helicon editors and staff work together to make executive decisions about literary/social events and submissions. This year, we hope to provide Northwesterns authors and artists with a venue for editorial relationships with dedicated staff members. General Requirements: This year, we will be publishing one PRINT issue in the winter and one WEB issue in the spring. All members of Helicon should be intellectually curious, open to consideration of all forms of art and literature, ready to engage in vigorous debate, and critically oriented. Final selection of all pieces will be made by the entire staff. Only applicants willing to weigh in on poetry, prose, and visual art will be considered. The workload and time commitment will be considerably heavier this year for all staff members in order to produce a better magazine. Most staff members in each section will also assist members of the Executive Staff in other areas, such as event planning, advertising, and boasting loudly. General Responsibilities: All members will be expected to vote on selections in every category, attend general and section-specific meetings with a maximum of two absences per quarter, solicit submissions, advertise for events, and meet all deadlines. The Application Process: All applications will be read and evaluated by the Executive Staff. Qualified candidates will be contacted via email and asked to set up a time for an interview sometime in the five days after the survey. Thank you for your time, and if you have any questions, please contact me at alinadunbar2013@u.northwestern.edu. Alina Dunbar Editor-in-Chief
