I. Installation

After extracting the module archive in your [MODULES] folder via FTP, the following steps are required for installation: 1) Go to Prestashop BackOffice > Modules > Administration 2) Select install for QuickUpdate 3) Select configure for the QuickUpdate module and you will be presented with a message like the image above. 4) If you admin folder was not correctly detected by QuickUpdate, please edit the field accordingly 5) Press install and QuickUpdate should perform the final step of the installation process. Note: If you do not have ZipArchive component in your PHP version, you will need to manually extract the installPack archive into your administration folder via FTP.

II. Configuration - Settings

Access PIN: By setting the Access PIN, QuickUpdate will let you access it by going to a URL in the following form:
www.yourwebsite.com/youradminfolder/quickupdate/?pin=accesspin.

By default, this field is empty and the function is disabled. Also by default, QuickUpdate does not allow access without the user being first logged in the BackOffice. The Access PIN offers one additional method of accessing QuickUpdate directly without login in the BackOffice. This is most useful for accessing QuickUpdate with a mobile device (ex. by scanning the generated QR code) Remember layout for (days): This setting lets you configure how many days the layout of QuickUpdate will be remembered. The layout is remembered automatically as soon as you change it (resizing / disabling columns, filtering / sorting, changing column positions, products / page). Reset layout on next load: Set this option to ON to reset the QuickUpdate layout to the initial one on the next load of the application. A browser restart may also be needed. Force reload: This option controls whether QuickUpdate reloads the product information after each modification or not. If set to OFF, QuickUpdate will not reload the product information after an update, resulting in faster updating, but if one change wasnt made successfully, you will only be able to see it in the Prestashop BackOffice / webshop or after a manual reload of the product list. Decimal precision: Set the decimal precision of ALL the decimal numbers in QuickUpdate (PrestaShop). Run PS hooks: Run the integrated Prestashop hooks related to the product actions performed with QuickUpdate (update product, update attribute, add product, etc.). Keep product position in category: When updating a products categories, the product can be kept in the same position for the categories that were not removed.

II. Configuration - Display and Plugins 1

Display [1]:
You can set the following configuration settings here: 1) Row height: Sets the height of a product row in the QuickUpdate table. Setting this to a lower value will fit more products on a page. The setting also affecte the product thumbnails which will be smaller or larger based on this value.

Plugins [2]:
This section gives access to the installed plugins, providing information regarding their name, version and a link to the plugin configuration.

II. Configuration - Updates and Support

Support [1]:
This section gives you quick access to the support forum of QuickUpdate, which contains the most common problems affecting other users, and eventually solutions to those problems. To expand and view the forum section, you need to click on the Support Forum text, as indicated in paranthesis.

Update [2]:
This section allows you to update the QuickUpdate module. You can check for updates by pressing the Check for new version nutton. If a new version is available, you will be presented with an appropiate message. To update the module though, the email address of your account on the Endpulse shop must be entered to check for a valid order. The number of websites you can update the module on is dependent on the number of licenses aquired.

LEGEND:
[1] BACK button:
Closes QuickUpdate and goes back to PrestaShops administration. Reverts back any changes made previously, one by one on a row (product) level. For example if multiple changes were made to one product row, pressing this button will revert back ALL changes made to that product. Note: If [2] UNDO button: there are no changes present, this button is disabled. Adds another product into the list, with empty fields. The fields can be filled by the user and with the scope of attributing them to a new product. The product is not added to the shop at this point, it will only be added after [3] ADD button: the UPDATE button [4] is pressed. Multiple products can be added at once. This button performs the update action after you are satisfied with all the modifications made. Note: This is the default functionality to prevent input mistakes from being transferred immediately, for auto-updating every [4] UPDATE button: change in real-time, see AutoSave button [14]. Note: This button is active only when there are changes pending to be updated. This is the center for mass-updating: - if only one product is selected and a click is performed in this field, all the products on the page are automatically selected. - if more products are selected on the page (using Ctrl + Click / Shift + Click on the product rows), the selection remains the same (it basically assumes that you cannot mass-update just one product). This field alters the value of the toggled characteristics [6] for the current product selection. This field takes the following value structures: a) VALUE: add VALUE to the selected products characteristics b) =VALUE: makes selected products characteristics equal to VALUE c) -VALUE: subtract VALUE from the selected products characteristics d) VALUE%: increases selected products characteristics with VALUE per cent e) -VALUE%: decreases selected products characteristics with VALUE per cent Note: VALUE can be any number with decimals.

[5] VALUE field:

This toggle buttons group allows you to select the product features you need to mass-update. The VALUE field [5] will be applied to all the checked characteristics corresponding to the selected products. NOTE: [6] Characteristics toggles: This group is different based on PS version - the image displays the group for PS 1.4.x; Also some of the buttons are muttualy exclusive - ex. Price <> Price [TAX]

[7] Add category button:

Toggle button to enable mass-adding of category instead of replacement. By default the mass category dropdown replaces the categories for the selected products. If this button is pressed, the mass category dropdown will append the checked categories to the selected products (uniquely - only if the product is not already present in the selected categories) Functions similar to the VALUE field [5] regarding the selection method, only it is applied to the product categories, allowing the user to change the categories for multiple products at once. Note: The default product category will be the last one in the list, if the products default category is removed from the product list. This section is the table heading witch implements the following features: a) Sorting : One click toggles the sorting (ascending / descending) corresponding to the column header (this feature is available for most but not all columns). b) Resizing: Each column may be resized by dragging the limits of the column header with the mouse. c) Auto resizing: Performing a doubleclick on the limit of the column header with the mouse will make the column resize to fit the contents of the largest text (will work only if the number of products displayed on a page is small enought to fit in one screen) d) Deactivating columns: Each column header features a checkbox menu allowing you to select the visible columns for editing (via the dropdown menu > columns). e) Filtering: Most column headers contain features to allow filtering of the products displayed. Filters affect all the products in the shop regardless of how many are displayed on the current page (via the dropdown menu > filter).

[8] Category mass update dropdown:

[9] Table heading:

Each row represents a product with its corresponding characteristics. Special sections: a) The expander allows you to expand the corresponding product and edit its descriptions (long and short) with a WYSIWYG interface.

[10] Product row:

b) The product thumbnail is included for a faster and more accurate identification of the corresponding product. A click on the product picture will open a new window presenting the products page in the shop, providing a preview functionality to show the changes made directly into the shop. NOTE: This only works if the product is ACTIVE. c) Actions column contains buttons that allow you to (left to right): i. Edit product attributes (combinations) ii. Duplicate the selected product iii. Delete the selected product

[11] Page navigation: [12] Refresh button:

Allows easy page navigation and information. Features Previous, Next, First and Last page navigation as well as a value field for entering a page manually. Provides functionality to refresh the product table - no need to refresh the browser and reload the whole application. This is useful for mass undoing multiple unwanted modifications or reloading the product list to check if the modifications were made correctly.

This dropdown list allows you to select the number of items dispayed per page for viewing or editing [13] Items per page dropdown: . The default is 10 items. It also allows you to specify a custom number of items to show per page, by clicking inside the field and typing the number you need. Provides functionality to auto-update every change in real-time. This is a toggle button, which means clicking it one time enables the functionality (the button remains pressed). To deactivate click again to depress the button. NOTE: With this button activated, EVERY change you make is automatically saved (even mass-updates). It is also valid for product attribute editing.

[14] AutoSave button:

[15] Clear Filters button:

Provides functionality to clear all the filters that were previously used in the product list. This button is also an indicator of any filters being present - ex. the filters are remembered across aplication reloads, and if this button is active (can be pressed) it is an indication that at least one filter is active for the product list so not all products are displayed. This dropdown list allows you to select the language you want to edit the products from. The languages listed here are the languages available (installed) in the shop. Indicates information regarding the total number of products and the number of products displayed.

IV. Column headers - sorting, filtering, disabling

5 2 4 4 3 1 1

[1] Header dropdown button

Only appears when a mouse-over is performed on the column header. One click on this button displays the menu shown in the picture above. Allows you to sort the column in ascending / descending order. Note: Sorting can also be enabled by clicking the column header directly to toggle the sorting feature. Note: Some columns might have these options disabled. Note: Sorting only affects the products displayed on the currect page. Allows the disabling of the columns you do not want or need to use. Unchecking the box next to the column name disables the column. Note: The column list is available in all column headers. Note: Disabling some columns will result in an increase in performance. Filters offer a quick and simple way of refining the products listed for editing. Filters are available for most columns and allow the possibility to display only the products in the selected categories, value range, date range, etc. depending on the column filtering options. When a filter is applied, the column header is shown in bold italic, suggesting that at least one filter has been applied from the Filters submenu. Allows you to resize columns with click + drag and auto-resizing the column to fit the largest content by double-click. Note: Auto-resizing only works only if all the items selected for display fit on the current page.

NOTE: All of the above options (sorting order / filters / columns displayed / columns size) are remembered accross application reloads according to the Remember layout option of the module configuration.

V. Editing product descriptions

2
Image (1) above shows the expanded row of a product, ready for editing its descriptions (long and short). This expanded view of the product row can be achieved by clicking the corresponding + (plus) sign on the left side of the products table. The description(s) correspond to the language selected in the language dropdown (Quick Reference [16]). Collapsing the row back can be achieved by clicking the corresponding - (minus) sign on the left side of the product table. Upon collapsing the editor row, QuickUpdate will mark the product as changed (red triangles) even if no change has been made to the descriptions. Also if the AutoSave toggle button (Quick Reference [14]) is enabled, it will perform an update. Note: For finalizing a description updating, a supplementary step needs to be taken. After the editing is done, the expanded row(s) needs to be collapsed as in image (2) before clicking the Update button (Quick Reference [4]). If AutoSave toggle button (Quick Reference [14]) is enabled, the currently edited products description will be automatically saved upon the collapsing of the editors row.

VI. Editing product attributes (combinations)

To activate the Product Attributes window (as seen above), click the Edit Attributes button ([1] in the image above) for the corresponding product row, in the Actions column. The new window, presents a list of available attributes for the selected product. The attribute column shows a list of combinations separated by |. Each combination has its own price, quantity, reference and weight as defined in PrestaShop. This window allows easy updating of the stocks and characteristics for each attribute combination. After editing one or more attributes characteristics (marked with a red triangle), updating will be saved by pressing the Save button from the bottom bar ([2] in the image above). The Close button [3] on the bottom bar may be used to close the window on mobile devices. Note: You may notice that some of the toggle buttons in the Mass Update panel are disabled - this is because you can also use the value field (Quick Reference [5]) and these buttons to mass-update product attributes in the same manner that you use to update products. Note: If AutoSave toggle button (Quick Reference [14]) is active in the main window, it will be applied to the Product Attributes window also. This means that every change will be saved immediately after editing a product attribute.

VII. Mass-update example scenarios

to 10.

Scenario 1: For products with ID 1, 5, 7 update the following characteristics: Price, Quantity, Weight, by making all of them equal

STEPS: 1) Select the rows of the corresponding products with Ctrl +Click on each row. 2) Click to toggle the desired characteristics (Quick Reference [6]) in the Mass Update panel (Price, Quantity, Weight). 3) Click the value field (Quick Reference [5]) to focus it and type =10. 4) Press ENTER or click outside the value field to apply the changes - the modified fields will be marked as changed with a red triangle in the corner. The values of all the checked characteristics are now equal to 10. At this time, the changes are not saved (only if AutoSave is on - see Quick Reference [14]). 5) Click the Update button (Quick Reference [4]) to save the changes (if AutoSave is enabled, this step is no longer required).

Scenario 2: For all products (on the current page) reduce Price including Tax with 25%.

STEPS: 1) Click on the Price[TAX] toggle button to select this characteristic in the Mass Update panel. 2) Click into the value field (Quick Reference [5]) -- make sure no more than one product was previously selected with Ctrl + Click -- and type -25%. 3) Press ENTER or click outside the value field to apply the changes - the modified fields will be marked as changed with a red triangle in the corner. The values of the price including tax (Price[TAX]) characteristic are now reduced by 25%. At this time, the changes are not saved (only if AutoSave is enabled - Quick Reference [14]). 4) Click the Update button (Quick Reference [4]) to save the changes (if Autosave is enabled, this step is no longer required). Note: Notice that both Price and Price[TAX] appear as modified, even though we chose only Price[TAX] to be changed. This happens because QuickUpdate considers them as being relational, that is Price[TAX] = Price + TAX, so both will apear as changed whenever you change either one.

Scenario 3: For all products in the iPods category, increase their Quantity with 40.

STEPS: 1) Click the Category column header and select the iPods filter from the filter submenu. 2) Click on the Quantity toggle button to select this characteristic in the Mass Update panel. 3) Click into the value field -- make sure no more than one product was previously selected with Ctrl + Click -- and type 40. 4) Press ENTER or click outside the value field to apply the changes - the modified fields will be marked as changed with a red triangle in the corner. The values of the Quantity characteristic are now increased with 40. At this time, the changes are not saved (only if AutoSave is enabled - Quick Reference [14]). 5) Click the Update button to save the changes (if AutoSave is on this step is no longer required).

VIII. Mobile devices

1. QuickUpdate can also be accessed from a mobile device through the integrated browser. While a number of devices have been tested, some may work better than others or not work at all. 2. The Android and iOS integrated browsers should be the most likely to function correctly. 3. Take into account that loading QuickUpdate on a mobile device requires quite some network traffic and speed. 4. The performance of QuickUpdate on a mobile device will probably be poorer compared to a computer. 5. Setting an Access PIN in the module configuration (Secion II) will generate a QR code that can be scanned with a mobile device to rapidly access QuickUpdate without the need to login into the BackOffice first on that device and / or type the URL manually. 6. A landscape position is recommended for using QuickUpdate on a mobile device. 7. Some special coding has been implemented in the application to provide a good functionality on mobile devices, but not all features will be available in the same manner as on a computer.

IX. Quick tips

1. QuickUpdate has an error reporting system implemented. In case there is an error, the application should notify you. 2. The module configuration features a Restore defaults button which you can use at any time to restore the default settings that QuickUpdate came with. This will also be needed in case thet settings got corrupt in some way, or they were not set during the install process. 3. Filtering affects all the products in the shop while sorting affects only the products displayed. 4. Doubleclick-ing on the column separator will auto-resize the adjacent column to fit the largest content. This function works only if the displayed products per page fit in only one screen (no scrolling involved). 5. QuickUpdate will auto-resize based on the browser window size (also affects mobile access), but a minimum screen resolution of 800 x 600 is recommended. 6. Hiding some of the columns increases performance - the most notable is hiding the Image column. 7. Toggle buttons ususaly have their active state remembered (AutoSave is an exception). 8. Columns can be reordered by click + drag on the column header. 9. Add product will fill-in required fields with some default information which is considered valid -> clicking Update will save the product with the default information in the shop. 10. All pending modifications can be undone at once by clicking the Refresh button on the bottom toolbar. 11. You can quickly list all the products in the shop on one page by selecting the All option from the Items per page dropdown (Quick Reference [13]). 12. Changing product categories will change the default category for those products to the first in the list, if the previous default category is removed. 13. The category filter lists a parent > child structure for 3rd level categories - ex. Home (1st) and 2nd level categories (Home children) will not show this structure, deeper subcategories will. 14. The ZipArchive component is needed for the installation and updating processes. Installation can also be performed manually by extracting the installPack zip file in your administration folder, while updating cannot be performed.
