MEXICAN CONSULATE OF NEW YORK TO HOST 5 STEPS FOR GOOD HEALTH INITIATIVE DURING WELLNESS WEEK, SEPTEMBER 17 - 22
--Free Diabetes Screenings, Zumba Dance Classes for Kids, and 5 Steps for Good Health Exhibition among planned activities for Mexican community in NY Tri-State Area-WHAT: Media are invited to attend a press conference with Representatives of the Mexican Consulate of New York and Sanofi Mexicos Jorge Rubio, Public Relations and Corporate Affairs Manager, on Thursday, September 15th to announce the details of the Consulates community health outreach to its constituents during Wellness Week that kicks off September 17 22, at the time of the United Nations High Level Meeting on the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases (NCDs). Wellness Week will focus on preventive measures for NCDs by raising awareness and creating a call-to-action for individuals, communities and policymakers. The Mexican Consulate of New York, with the support of the Mexican Ministry of Health, The World Economic Forum, The Pan-American Health Organization and Sanofi Mexico, will host a series of public wellness events for the Mexican community in the New York Tri-state area, beginning the week of September 19th. Through the 5 Steps for Good Health Program, which Sanofi has supported in Mexico and is now presenting in New York, the Mexican community in the area will learn how to maintain a healthy lifestyle for their families by following a simple plan. Other activities planned for Wellness Week with the participation of Mexican community-based organizations in the Tri-State area include a 5 Steps for Good Health Exhibition, free diabetes screenings and free Zumba Fitness classes for children between the ages 4 to 12. These activities will be held at Casa Puebla, a well-known Mexican cultural center in Manhattans Upper West Side.
