CREATE A CASE STUDY RELATED TO ICT Evaluation of plagiarism as a common crime among high school and university students

in the manipulation of internet resources to develop research projects.

Introduction Plagiarism can be defined as the activity of taking other people ideas or intellectual properties and make them as your own without providing the appropriate attribution, and The Internet and digital technology has greatly enhanced students' opportunities to plagiarize material effectively without being recognized; there are numerous web sites that allow students to access to thousands of research papers in only few seconds just by conducting a simple Internet search on website such as www.google.com. Therefore the convenience to get the information is enhancing plagiarism and it has become the easiest method to create a research paper, case study, story, project, articles or any other material students can produce it by copying and pasting through the website. Educators must know that there are many web sites that provide models of policies, citation guides, and suggestions to detect plagiarism and provide a penalty to this crime; however, it is the responsibility of all educators to teach and train students about the ethics of research. In addition educators must teach students how to evaluate, analyze and synthesize websites more critically to develop research skills since most students who are novice researchers do not have the background knowledge to make quotations, references and critical assessments of information. Case study Establishing a clear understanding of academic policies against plagiarism, educators should review the Internet to investigate the scope of material on the topics they will assign students to research. Educators who take time to review this material will be able to identify information that has been plagiarized.
