Dear Members,
Thanks to your support, MITA has continued to successfully demonstrate the value of medical imaging and radiation therapy, reaching priority stakeholders on key issues through our Enhanced Imaging Campaign over the past year. Through earned media, advertising, patient advocacy and digital communications, we have positioned MITA as the go-to imaging resource; focused the conversation on innovation, access and jobs; influenced legislative outcomes and regulatory processes; and communicated the solutions-oriented character of the imaging industry. Additionally, by funding the Access to Medical Imaging Coalition, we have strongly allied ourselves with the larger house of medicinefrom patients to providersand cultivated these relationships with professional and patient groups that carry our messages and help tell our story. While we have benefited from these efforts, our work here in not done. Advanced imaging continues to be threatened by reimbursement cuts, with seven separate cuts over the past six years, many of which are not yet even fully implemented, and new cuts on the horizon. Meanwhile, misperceptions persist about imaging utilization and the public remains concerned about the effects of medical radiation. There is also progress to be made with regulatory processes, from 510(k) reform to MDUFMA negotiations. Additional investment is needed in our strategic communications activities that will strengthen our work on behalf of the imaging community. I hope you will take an opportunity to review our recent successes and consider supporting these new tactics to support our MITA mission. Best,
David Fisher Executive Director, The Medical Imaging & Technology Alliance
