Homecoming 2011 rules packets are now available for all student competitions. Homecoming Competition Entry forms are due by 5:00 pm on Monday, October 10 to TCC 330.

There is an information meeting Monday, October 3 at 4:00 in the Tutor Campus Center (TCC) 320a regarding the student organization competitions. This year there are 4 competitions for student organizations: Anything Goes, Parade, Banner, and Lawn or Lobby Displays. AdventureLEAD Sea Kayaking September 25

Join AdventureLEAD on their first trip this Fall a guided sea kayak tour exploring sea caves in the Channel Islands! This adventure suits any experience level and offers an enjoyable and educational excursion for all.

Redefining Engagement in Active Leadership (REAL) Project Applications Available Are you a sophomore? Are you interested in learning about diversity and social justice? Interested in becoming a leader at USC?

APPLY to participate in the Redefining Engagement in Active Leadership (REAL) Project! The REAL Project is an innovative leadership program that links student development and learning to service and action! Participate in teambuilding activities, reflective discussions about social justice and diversity, and have the chance to coordinate and facilitate the annual Multicultural Retreat in the Spring! This years theme is Access in Higher Education which will explore how students mobilize through the educational system. The REAL Project allows you to share your experiences and opinions about social justice and institutions, and gives you the opportunity to learn from your peers! The Emerging Leaders Program is geared toward first year students who are interested in developing their leadership potential. ELP runs primarily in spring semester and features seminars led by faculty, staff and outside community members, a weekend retreat and a community service project. ELP alumni are now leaders in student organizations, student government and more.

STAND's (Students Taking Action in the Name of Diversity) mission is to serve as an education outreach program that links student development and learning to service and action. The project trains students to present workshops on diversity-related topics in order to promote social change. STAND supports the facilitation of campus-wide interaction and dialogue, and hopes to challenge students with developing new perspectives while fostering an appreciation and understanding of multicultural backgrounds.

We are a relatively new organization at USC, but we have already done a lot of great things and was even nominated to be the Best New Organization at the Tommy Awards. Our coordinators are all involved leaders on campus, and we would love to welcome new members this year to expand our organization further.

We are happy to tell you more about our organization next Wednesday, August 31, from 4-5pm at TCC 330 Conference Room.

Campus Activities is proud to announce 2 Domestic Leadership Exchanges for this year. Once is focused on homelessness and the other on environmental issues. The homelessness exchange is with Kennesaw State University which means we will be traveling to Atlanta, Georgia. The environmental exchange is with the University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point.

Both exchanges present a truly unique opportunity to students. 10 students from each institution will be selected to participate in a six-month exploration of leadership, service, and the social issue of homelessness or environmental issues that includes two immersion weekends (one in Atlanta or Stevens Point, WI; the other in Los Angeles). Participants will be paired with a student from the other institution and are expected to complete one team project focused on homelessness or an environmental consern throughout the progression of the program.

One of the highest honors the university can bestow upon its students, the Order of the Torch is composed of 12 individuals who exemplify Trojan excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, commitment to USC, strong public speaking skills, and an ability to communicate the USC experience to others. Members serve as ambassadors for the university, promoting USC and the Trojan family to current students, prospective Trojans, alumni, the academic community, and the public. USG Funding Information Meeting

Hello Student Organization Presidents and Treasurers, My name is Elton Kwok and I am the Treasurer of the Undergraduate Student Government (USG). I would like to invite you to attend the USG Funding Orientation on Tuesday, September 6 at 7:30 in TCC Rosen Room. During this orientation, student leaders will be able to find out about the funding resources that USG offers and how to apply. We will also review all the new policies that every student organization must know. The USG Funding Boards and I encourage you to attend, or send at least one representative from your organization. As an incentive, every organization that attends will be eligible receive an extra $100 from the funding board of their choosing, upon applying for USG Funding.

Interested in traveling internationally to participate in both volunteerism and tourism? Then apply to Alternative Winter Break: Thailand! Student volunteers will have the opportunity to work with primary school children as well as novice monks, both coming from generally poor backgrounds and having limited access to learning English. Student volunteers will be teaching Englisha skill that greatly enhances the locals chances of obtaining a job in one of Thailands main industries: tourism. English lessons will be taught through interactive activities such as playing games, singing songs, etc.

AWB participants will also learn about Thai culture through participating in local activities, such as shopping at the floating market and participating in Thai cooking, as well as visiting some of its historical landmarks, such as the Grand Palace.

The trip will focus on youth and education in Thailand by investing time in youth and bringing people together by enhancing multi-cultural understanding. Trip Dates: December 15, 2011 -- January 2, 2012

The USC Norman Topping Student Aid Fund (NTSAF) is the only student-initiated, student-funded, and primarily student-administered scholarship in the nation. The Topping Fund is administered by a Governing Board composed of 12 voting student members, USC alumni, and representatives from the local community, faculty and Offices of Admission and Financial Aid who select the Topping Scholars and oversee the long term policies of the Topping Scholarship for a two year term.

The NTSAF Governing Board is looking for dedicated leaders to continue the legacy of the Topping Fund by becoming student representatives! Program Board Speakers Committee cordially invites you to attend An Evening with Maya Angelou on September 7th, 2011 at 7 pm. This will be a hallmark event for our Fall Speaker Series hosted in Bovard Auditorium. The event is open to all USC students, faculty, and staff with valid USC ID. Join SC Homelessness Initiative as a Project Leader!

SC Homelessness Initiative is a student service organization looking for members and project leaders to empower the homeless with student-led healthy living workshops (diabetes, cardiovascular health, dental health, nutrition, stress management, and much more) and educational workshops (job readiness and computer skills). SCHI is currently partnered with the non-profit organization Downtown Womens Center and as a Project Leader you will have the opportunity to coordinate the development of health and education workshop curriculum in any area of your choice.

In addition, other service opportunities include raising awareness of poverty among local high school students through the Solutions Exist campaign, fun activities with homeless children at School of Wheels, and educational trips to the Natural History Museum with children living in poverty through the Children's Nature Institute.

Interested in tutoring kids? Asian American Tutorial Project (AATP) tutors the children at Castelar Elementary School in Math and English on Saturday mornings. Our Fall Quarter begins October 8 and we're looking for more tutors! Tutors and kids are paired up one-on-one, so there is a great opportunity to really create a lasting bond with your tutee. In addition to tutoring, we also do arts and crafts, play sports, and go on field trips with the kids! If you're interested, come out to one of our info sessions:

Autism Speaks U

Autism Speaks U is a program designed for college students who host awareness, advocacy and fundraising events. It is an exciting and collaborative way for students to raise funds and awareness for Autism Speaks, while supporting their local autism communities. Get involved by: Hosting awareness and fundraising events Establishing an Autism Speaks U chapter at USC Becoming Autism Speaks U campus ambassadors Creating a buddy program to partner with students and youth on the autism spectrum

Students are encouraged to be creative when planning events on and off campus. Ideas range from hosting a 5k run/3k walk, to organizing a benefit concert or a karaoke competition, to bringing in a panel that discusses relevant issues on autism. Since its inaugural event at Penn State in 2006, Autism Speaks U events have raised over $800,000 and student-organized Walk teams have brought in millions more.

USC will be having their annual day at the LA County Fair on September 30th. We are looking for groups that would like to perform. These groups can be singing, dancing, or any other type of group that you are apart of that would like to perform.

We have 3 stages reserved for the day and are looking for great acts! This is a great opportunity to showcase your group for FREE! We are looking for 30, 45, or 60 minute acts to perform. Along with performing we will also provide you with free parking, free admission to the fair, and a free ticket to the main concert that night.

We request that groups interested please email us on why you think you should be selected to perform along with a video clip for us to review.
