Commissionable/Sales- No Incentive jobs only Job description IBM Research is hiring for a position in Singapore in the area of Business Analytics and Mathematical Sciences. This is a research position with emphasis on using optimization techniques to develop large-scale solutions for real world problems from industries such as transportation, water networks and energy management (at the electric grid level) or energy management for buildings. The candidate should have a very strong background in the theory of optimization and mathematical programming. A very strong emphasis on computational aspect of optimization especially in the areas of linear/integer programming and nonlinear programming is required. The candidate is expected to have experience with formulating and designing algorithms to solve large and difficult optimization problems using optimization solvers coupled with programming languages such as C, C++ or Java. The position requires candidates to actively research applied problems to design new solutions and implement and test these solutions. The candidate should also actively publish in high quality journals. The typical candidate would have Ph.D. in mathematical sciences, operations research or a related field. Duties of people in the dept: - Participate in internal customer projects - Participate in external customer projects - Research literature to identify appropriate solution methods for the customer problems - Design and develop mathematics based models for the problem at hand - Design and develop solution methods and approaches for the problem at hand - Develop prototype implementations to demonstrate the feasibility of solution methods - Patent new ideas and publish work in high visibility conferences and journals.
