Furthermore, it does not give up without achieving any result. The church of Sardis did not give up proving those who claim to be apostle but are not, and have found to be false (v. 2b). Surely, it takes hard work to achieve good results. Active love overcomes hardships, work hard in the midst of it, and aims for good results.

call forth for a heart that is consistently motivated by love. Love that overcomes, aims to be consistent to work hard that is love motivated at its best.

Truthful Love
Love that overcomes should be a truthful love. It should stand in the truth, and should not tolerate the otherwise. Truth accepts the Bible as authoritative source of Christian faith and practice. It explains truth, and shows how to practice love in the line of truth. God commended the church in Sardis, you have this in your favor: You hate the practices of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate (v. 6). A truthful love hates what God hates. The church in Sardis hated false teaching (v. 2). False contradicts that truth. Love seeks the truth, and forsakes the false. Furthermore, love hates sinful practices. The practices of the Nicolaitans are unknown, yet God hated it, and the church in Sardis did likewise. The most important thing about truthful love is to hate false teaching, and sinful practices. Instead, love the truth, and practice love in the line of truth. Truthful love, hates what God hates. It accepts the Bible as the source of truth and authoritative guide for Christian practice of truthful love
To him who overcomes, I will give the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God Revelations 2:7

Consistent Love
Love that overcomes aims to be a consistent love . God said, Yet, I hold this against you: You have forsaken your first love. Remember the height from which you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand. This statement of God, surely talks about having a consistent motivation of love. Our practice of love fluctuates. Sometimes, we succeed, but sometimes we fail to practice love. It is always a reality, yet it does not give the license not to aim for having a consistent motivation of love. Love in its nature aims to be at its consistent best. We may leave our best love many times, yet God has given us time to come back to love at its consistent best. We need to apply the principle of consistent evaluation of our love. Evaluation of our love helps us discover if we are not giving our best love. If this is the case, it helps us to remember the heights from which [we] have fallen [from our best love (v. 4). After evaluation, it calls forth also for a repentance. Repentance is an act to leave love at its second best, and turn our hearts again to our love at its best. Thus, to have a consistent practice of love

Active Love
Love is active. One of the descriptions of an active love by God is, I know your deeds, your hard work and your perseverance. I know that you cannot tolerate wicked men, that you have tested those who claim to be apostles but are not, and found them false. Furthermore, God said You have persevered and have endured hardships for my name, and have not grows weary (v. 3). Surely these descriptions talks about an active love. From Gods point of view, an active love works hard. Working hard may be found in many ways. It may be in not tolerating false teaching and proving false teachers. It may be expressed in involving in church activities, and others. An active love works hard even in hard times. In hard times when love is active it brings glory to God (v. 3). Hard times are not hindrances to an active love. An active love expresses itself in hard work even in hardships. It perseveres, no matter what.

There is reward for those who practice active, consistent, and truthful love. God knows what kind of love we presently have. He has also the power to help us to have and grow in practicing love that overcomes. We can ask Him, to teach, and help us to practice overcoming love.
