September 2011
O man greatly loved, fear not, peace be with you; be strong and of good courage. And as he spoke to me, I was strengthened Daniel 10:19 This September, it doesnt take much reflection to have cause for fear and anxiety. The tenth anniversary of the terror attacks of 9-11, Irenes stop over New England, the yo-yo stock market and seeming financial instability can add up to a pulse racing fear. It isnt a stretch to envision a face to face with a lion, such as Daniel experienced. Yet after visions and visitations, he clung to Gods love and presence in his life, and was reminded he was greatly loved, and to fear not. I want to remind you that you are greatly loved by an almighty God, who encourages you to be strong and of good courage. My prayer is that you will be strengthened in your faith just as Daniel was. It is this desire that all of New England know the transforming love of Jesus Christ that calms and brings peace that led to our series of seminars on small groups and church planting in New England. Just a reminder, if you havent signed up for our September 16-17th Conference, it is not too late. Just hop onto our website and go to events for registration and details. September is a month of travel for me. First up is the investiture of the Right Reverend John Guernsey as the first bishop of the Diocese of the Mid-Atlantic in Fairfax, VA. Later this month I will attend the consecration service of the Rev. Dr. Eric Menees as Bishop in the Anglican Diocese of San Joaquin, Fresno, CA. Then it is up to Bellingham, WA for the third consecration, as Bishopelect Kevin Bond Allen will serve the Diocese of Cascadia. I have the honor of preaching at his church the following Sunday. All is culminated in the first ever ACNA retreat for the College of Bishops, conveniently meeting in Washington state as well, right after the consecration. Pray for encouragement, wisdom, fellowship and unity as we meet on retreat with Archbishop Robert Duncan. For the millions of you who were asking about my vacation, yes we caught fish. Reminiscent of the full nets of the disciples, we caught and released tons and tons (fish tales aside) of salmon and trout plus had great conversation and fellowship. Fishing for me is extremely therapeutic and restful. I pray you had a therapeutic and restful summer as well and are ready for the battle ahead. Fear not, for you are greatly loved by an almighty God!
