I want to be in the big circus. I want to sit on an elephant. I want to pet its gray skin. I want to feed the monkey bananas. I bet that monkey would grin. He may try to give me a kiss! I want to run with the clowns. I want to jump up and down and spin with them. It would be a hit! Everyone would cheer for us!

Echo read the morning message. What happened in this little story? (sequence)

Word Families: (vocab, phonics, pa) Intro to word family words (-it, -in, -iss) Find the word family words in the morning message. y Circle it family in blue y Underline in family in purple y Circle iss family in red Do word family sort as whole group. Phonics Time: (pa/phonics) Point out short i words in the morning message. Ask for the Tucker sign for short i. Read words aloud to students on pg 67C-D, 67K. Tell students to raise their hand if they hear the short i sound in the words. Write the same words on the board/chart paper. Ask students to sound words out with Tucker. Is it a short i word? Word Wall Practice: (vocab, fluency) Read I Am a Big Kid pg 68-69 as intro to words of the week. y Ask students to read the highlighted words. Write them on the board. Discuss words.
