Social Issue : Child abuse Child abuse is defined as intentional acts that result in physical or emotional that harm

to the children. Nowadays, we always hear about child abuse and there are many children being abused every year. We can read and hear about the child abuse news at the television, radio and also magazines. Based on the three article that I read, there are four types of child abuse that are physical abuse, emotional abuse, neglect and sexual abuse. First of all, we go to the physical abuse. Physical abuse is a physical injury which can cause a result like punching, beating, hitting, burning, or otherwise that harming the children. Such injury is considered abuse regardless of whether the caretaker intends to hurt the children. Forms of physical abuse include acts of violence, which is can injure or sometimes kill the children. Next, the others types of child abuse is emotional abuse. Emotional abuse is a pattern of behaviour that impairs a child's emotional development. This may include constant criticism, threats, or rejection, as well as withholding love, support, or guidance. Emotional abuse generally occurs when the yelling and anger go too far or when a parent constantly threatens or dismisses a child until the child's feelings of self-worth are damaged. Then, neglect is defined as a type of maltreatment that refers to the failure to provide needed age appropriate care. Neglect can be physical, educational, or emotional. Physical neglect can include not providing adequate food, appropriate medical care, or proper weather protection. While educational neglect includes failure to provide educational needs and allowing excessive truancies. Emotional neglect is failure to provide emotional support and love. This includes neglect of the

child's emotional needs and failure to provide psychological care as needed. Lastly, the form of child abuse is sexual abuse. Sexual abuse is any misuse of a child for sexual pleasure or gratification. This sexual abuse includes activities by a parent or caretaker such as penetration, incest, rape, sodomy, and exploitation through prostitution or the production of pornographic materials. I choose the theme social issue that is child abuse because it is an interesting and important topic to discuss in this time. Everyday, we usually hear and see that some parents abuse their children until can bring the children death. This is very inhumanity and cruel behaviour. Today, the news about child abuse is very normal to the people. This is because the news about child abuse can we see anywhere and anytime. This shows that the people does not has sympathy and love to the children anymore. Children are not the property of anyone, they are unique individuals and their parents are only their guardians. So, we must protect the children. In my opinion, the parents that abuse their children should be charge as a criminal case because it violate the human rights although the children still under age. When it is charged as a criminal case, it will give advantages for the children to protect their safety and welfare. The parents who abuse their children should stop the abuse right now because it will make the children emotional become unstable effect from the abuse they had experienced. This can influence the development of the children in the future. As a conclusion, child abuse is the number one killer of children all over the world. Everyone needs to work together to solve this problem. Focused support can help the children being abuse and the child abusers themselves. We should prevent it from getting worse as the children today will be a leader for tomorrow.
