PRAYER & DEVOTIONS Benediction Morning Prayer of the Church: Holy Rosary Exposition of Blessed Sacrament 1st Sun of the month 3pm Mon, Wed -Sat 8.45am. Tuesday 6.40pm Sat, 11am-12noon approximately 7 miles in the Pendle area. Bring a packed lunch. Afternoon pub stop a strong possibility! NEW TRANSLATION: Today we use the new I Confess, Gloria and Creed. Next Sunday we will use all the new responses which will be printed on the back of the bulletin in place of the Sunday Plus. The current Mass Books will still be needed for the readings. From the First Sunday of Advent we should have new Mass books with everything together. Thank you for your patience! ST. PETERS SCHOOL reopens on Thursday 1st September at 8.45am. We look forward to welcoming the children back after the long summer break. We have a vacancy for a lunchtime welfare assistant (5 hours per week). Please ring 734658 for further details. CHILDRENS LITURGY: Two members of our group are leaving for pastures new! We really need a couple more volunteers to step in. No teaching qualifications are needed just an interest in helping our children understand the Gospel at their level. The commitment would be every five weeks. Training and support will be given and books are provided. For further details please contact Christine Woods on 722922. SVP monthly meeting is on Thursday at 6.30pm in the Presbytery. New members would be welcome. Please contact Bill Drake on 733985 if you would like to know more about the charitable work of this society. September is national awareness month for the SVP. This year rather than give a talk at Mass, the group will have a display at the showcase event in November. Also see their notice board. CAFOD FUNDRAISING GREAT NORTH RUN: Siobhan Ormerod will this year be helping to carry on the tradition of St. Josephs parishioners fundraising for CAFOD by taking part in the Great North Run. Please help in any way you can by adding a donation to the sponsorship forms at the back of church or contributing online at www.justgiving.com/Siobhan-Ormerod. Thank you very much! BISHOP CAMPBELLS JUBILEE: The Bishop invites us to a Mass to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of his priestly ordination on Friday 16th September at 6pm in Lancaster Cathedral. All welcome. BURKINA FASO: The total raised so far has increased to over 3520 excluding Gift Aid. The fund will remain open for final donations until Saturday 10th September when a cheque will be presented to the Bernadine Sisters at a Hot Pot Supper & Social Evening in the hall from 7.00pm. Tickets on sale this weekend. PARISH AGM: The Parish AGM will be held on Sunday 11th September at 11.00am in the Hall, all welcome. Nominations for Chairperson and Secretary are required. Nomination forms available at the back of church and completed forms should be returned to the parish office no later than 28th August. Group reports for presentation at the AGM should be filed with the office no later than Sunday 4th September. PARISH PASTORAL TEAM: The team would like to consult all existing groups on an idea for a parish showcase event on the weekend of 19th/20th Nov, the Feast of Christ the King. Would anyone who leads or organises a parish group, small or large, formal or informal, please pick up a letter from the pastoral team. They are in a box on the table in the main church porch & can also be viewed on the parish web site. CLEATOR PILGRIMAGE: Sunday 11th September 3.00pm Mass and blessing of the sick.
