Well. Well. it has been quite some time that X-Tribe has been making its absence felt. I wish I have enough excuses to list them and convince you all about its absence????. Hands up! I dont even have a single excuse for it and therefore I hide my guilty head under the pillow.. but only to come out to show my guilty face again!!. NCFC has decided to bring out X-Tribe twice a year only instead of bringing out quarterly. So from now on, we will inform you all about NCFC twice a year through this magazine. Mind it! We have good News for you too. From now onwards, you all can know about everything and anything about the happenings in NCFC just by pressing your fingers at your keyboards (lappy or desky) and voila! NCFC is there for you. You can go to Facebook and type NCF Chennai. Be there! As always, we are a blessed family and God is truly working greater things through NCFC in many ways. We (read: Nagas) do face difficulties/shortcomings at times but we still come up triumphant in the end. We have our own share of clapping and slapping but God has been leading us even when our minds are clouded. Many new Nagas have come to Chennai this year too for further studies/works and we welcome them wholeheartedly in our midst. We encourage all the newcomers to join us in NCFC as we live together in this city called Chennai. Let us come together to share love, worship, pray and stay in unison as Nagas under His Will and Guidance. team - editorial He rules our lives.. do not rule your own self.

Pastor Wapangtoshi

This is a story about John Ruskin, the 18th century English writer, when he was quite old. He was visiting a friend and was standing and gazing out the front window of his friends house. It was already night, and the lamplighter was lighting the streetlamps. From the window, one could only see the lamps that were being lit, and the light that the lamplighter was carrying from one lamp post to the other but the lamplighter himself could not be seen.

Ruskin remarked that the lamplighter was a good example of a genuine Christian. His way was clearly marked by the lights he is lighting, and the lights were kept burning even though he himself may not be known or seen by others. As children of God, every one of us has the responsibility to share about Jesus Christ and let the people see Jesus, the Light of the world in us. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.(Matthew 5:16).

We interviewed Uncle Aso Shimray who has been of such a help to NCFC from the very first time he and his family landed up in Chennai. Here is what he has to say..

family in.ter. view

1. 2. 3. 4. 5.

Tell us about you and your family?

- I am Aso Shimray, lovingly called as Uncle Aso by every one. I am working in United India Insurance Co. I am a father of three children and husband of one wife!!

When and how did you land up in Chennai?

- I came on transfer of my services from Guwahati, in July 2010. My family joined me in February 2011.

You first impression about NCFC?

- The first service I attended in Chennai was NCF Chennai (1st Aug.2010). I was warmly welcomed into the family by the Pastor and my experience has been quite enriching since then.

What change would you like to see in NCFC and how?

Aso & family

-The Naga community in Chennai is still small comparing with other cities. Hence, still intact. Yet I would love it to be still closer. Being scattered in this vast city the compactness is lost. We need to work out so that ideas are frequently exchanged and brotherhood is built up. The role being played by NCFC is commendable. NSUC should supplement what NCFC is unable to, in certain areas of social life.

Your message to the NCFC members?

-My best wishes and prayer for the love and unity of the Nagas here in Chennai which is the thirst of many.

enriching

Warm greetings to you all from Maastricht , the Netherlands . It has been a year since I have been away from Chennai and apart from missing NCFC and Chennai friends, I also miss Buharis Mutton Biriyani, Fishermans Fares seafood and papaya. There are a few Indian students all over the Netherlands but there is no one from north- east which make me feel lonely at times. But it has an advantage in that it has brought me closer to God and made me more independent. The atmosphere here is pleasant and people are lively, friendly and very helpful. After having lived all these years, I realized that Gods grace is the ultimate source for our health, happiness and success. I would like to share 5 principles that keep me going: Seek Gods grace when you are happy, sad, anxious, excited, scared or angry. K. Shangamla Keep your loved ones around you and keep Jesus inside you. Do not do anything that you will be ashamed of when you look yourself into a mirror. Be a Christian when you are alone, then you do not have to worry when you have to be a Christian with other people. As a human, you may fail sometimes but do not fail to rise up.

dear ncfc

Most of the time, we may end up doing the 5th alone but no human is perfect except Jesus, so just like a toddler who struggles between the fall and rise until he can walk and run confidently, let us keep trying to be perfect in Christ. Lastly, I would like to leave with you a promise of God, Isaiah 58: 11-12 And the LORD shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not. And they that shall be of thee shall build the old waste places: thou shalt raise up the foundations of many generations; and thou shalt be called, The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in.

seek God

With prayer and love!!!

After Pre-university joined Madras Christian College, Tambaram, in 1955, to do BA English (Hons), to become a teacher later on. Recalls with abiding dread and humility that he was the shyest, most backward student in his Class trying very hard to follow the lectures given by the brilliant lecturers and professors from India and Scotland! But he is also grateful and proud that he was the first Naga to study at MCC! He did not get a degree but remains convinced that studying English literature taught him to feel and to think. Remembers with fascination life at Heber Hall for two years. Met the people and idea of Moral Re-Armament (MRA) now called Initiatives of Change, through Roy Macnicol, professor of English, during the first year. He left after the second year to start to work with the movement, without completing his degree. He continues to work with MRA, for some years now as a Trustee of MRA India.

A Report on Candlelight Prayer Service for Naga Reconciliation

Naga Students Union Chennai (NSUC) and Naga Christian Fellowship Chennai (NCFC) organized a CANDLELIGHT PRAYER SERVICE at the Madras Centenary Telugu Baptist Church in Chennai on March 13, 2011, to appeal to the Naga national leaders for the highest level summit of reconciliation in an expedited manner and prayed to God for early solution of the Naga National Movement. The service began with a special prayer from Watinaro, followed by Lopen Pongen, President NSUC who shared the positive outcomes of the Forum for Naga Reconciliations (FNR) initiatives and petitioned the Naga national leaders to meet face-to-face in the highest level summit for reconciliation.

Aso K. Shimray, a prominent Naga community member in Chennai, in his speech appreciated FNR and Rev. Dr. Wati Aier for his leadership and at the same time, appealed to all Nagas to discard the pride and surrender our mistakes, which is the sin that is stopping us to achieve our desired aspirations. Also, speaking on the occasion, Zuneyi Veyie, a senior Naga community member in Chennai further appealed to all Naga national leaders to come together to reconcile in spite of our divisive opinions. Naga national leaders who are not willing to come for reconciliation, are not working for the Nagas but only working for their selfish interests via groups and tribes he said. Wapangtoshi, Pastor, NCFC in his message based on 2 Chronicles 7:14 appealed to all Nagas to humble ourselves at the feet of our Lord Jesus Christ so that our sins will be forgiven and our cries will be heard from heaven and thus God will heal our land. Further, he opined to all the Naga national leaders not to miss this great opportunity for the highest level summit of reconciliation and to act upon their promises immediately. If you wait for the next time, we never know how many precious Naga lives will be lost, if you wait for the next time, we dont know how much Nagas will suffer. Therefore, dont wait for the next time he added. Earlier in the service, Maximillian Pamei read out the message from the FNR convener Rev. Dr. Wati Aier and Aribeni Kikon read the Word of God. Hingba Paul, Vice President NSUC was the leader of the service. The evening came to an end with the hymn We shall overcome along with the candlelight moment and a prayer.

As usual, NCFC will again organize Rejoice and is also one of the most anticipated events

on September 18, 2011, which is a yearly event of NCFC, an evening of heavenly music and includes not only musicians and artistes from NCFC but also from other North-Eastern

Dreams do come true! My dream to pursue higher studies in a renowned institute in one of Indias metro city has been fulfilled. And what could be a better place than Chennai! Im happy to be here and happier to find a family (read: NCFC). Your warm welcome and hospitality has made this place a home far away from home. My special thanks to Pastor Wapang for all he has done for me. I do hope that we all shall remain together in all our future endeavors also and continue to be a blessing to one and all.

First of all, I give all my glory and honor to our almighty God for the blessed and wonderful time that He has given me to write this short passage. Well God has a plan and purpose for everyone in this world, the same way that God has put me here for His purpose and it is a pleasure being here in Chennai and the purpose which I started for. This is my first experience away from home sweet home, miles away from my family and friends. At first, I had insecurities and frightened, but once I arrived at the destination, I felt so glad after meeting the brethren of NCFC and the love and care they showered upon me. I truly regained my innermost hope and safe from loneliness and I feel that I am sheltered from earthly dangers. It was really encouraging for me when the NCFC conducted a special service for us and of course with very special refreshment and also the instructions and best safety measures. I am gladly trying to abide accordingly and truly felt so blessed to be a part of this family. I am very much thankful to God for his good deeds. Thank you and God bless us all.
