How to Use Vertical Thermosyphon Reboiler Calculator

Follow these steps to start the calculation

Main Panel
Main Panel consists of following sub-panels Mode Panel Geometry Panel Properties Panel Data Panel

Mode Panel
Select Mode for Calculation Find Circulation Rate - Provide intial estimate for Circulation rate, if no input is provided, calculator will start with its own intial estimate. Rating for Given Circulation Rate - Provide a circulation rate for which calculator will check whehter thermosyphoning will take place or not. Select the Units from SI, Metric and English.

Geomtery Panel
Enter the Geometric details for the exchanger Do - Tube Outer Diameter Di - Tube Inner Diameter NT - Total number of tubes L - Length of tube EPST - Roughness of tube H - Height of Liquid level in column above bottom tubesheet of reboiler Din - Diameter of Inlet leg piping to the Reboiler Dout - Diameter of Return leg piping from the Reboiler Lin - Equivalent Length of Inlet Leg piping to the Reboiler Lout - Equivalent Length of Return Leg piping from the Reboiler EPS - Roughness of Inlet and Return Leg Piping

Properties Panel

In this section physical properties for the process fluid are filled. Physical properties are filled for 2 reference temperatures covering the operating temperature range of the reboiler. If properties are availabe for 1 temperature only then calculator will take same property otherwise it will interpolate from properties for 2 reference temperatures. Following properties are to be filled for the process fluid. Reference Temperature Liquid Density Vapor Density Liquid Viscosity Vapor Viscosity Liquid Specific Heat Liquid Thermal Conductivity Liquid Surface Tension Liquid Heat of Vaporization Reference Temperature for Heat of Vaporization

Data Panel
In this section remaining data required for the calculation of thermosyphon reboiler are filled as following. Antoine Equation parameters for the calculation of vapor pressure log(Pvap) = A - B/(T+C) are provided. Utility Data is filled for Saturated Steam. User can provide Steam Pressure and then press Enter to calculate the Saturation Temperature. Or directly Steam temperature can be filled. Heat transfer coefficient is then filled for Shell side steam. Liquid inlet temperature to the reboiler Liquid critical temperature Tube wall Thermal Conductivity Fouling factor for Shell Side Fouling factor for Tube Sdie Sample problems can be loaded by clicking Load Sample Button. After filling all necessary data Press Calculate Button to start calculation.

Result Panel
After calculation is complete results are printed in this panel. To Copy results follow these steps Press CTRL + A to Select all text matter in the text window. Press CTRL + C to Copy the selected text matter. Open any Text or Spreadsheet editor and press CTRL + V to Paste the selected Text. Start | Applications | Sample 1 | Sample 2
