ACADEMIC HONESTY Plagiarism of any type will not be tolerated in this class. Your writings for this course must be your own work. I do not care if you use outside materials as long as you use proper citations and quotation marks around words that you didnt write. Downloading and printing material from the Internet as your own work will earn you an AUTOMATIC F IN THIS COURSE. Dont take the risk. EMAIL POLICY All class-related communication must be through your NCCC email account (Pmail). Instructions for setting up your P-mail account can be found on the NCCC Webpage under Current Students Student Email Setup. When writing an email put the following in the subject line: HIST 202-31. All students must send a certification email to the instructor within the first week of class. The email should include the students correct name. EVALUATION AND GRADING: Student performance will be evaluated through examinations, a research project, homework, quizzes, map exercises, and classroom discussions. 1. Examinations: There will be FOUR examinations during the semester. The exams will include both objective questions (multiple choice, matching, fill-in-theblank) and subjective essays. 2. Research Project: Students will be required to complete a major research project by the end of the semester. Topics must be preapproved by me. Details on the requirements for the research project and its grading will be found on the Course Webpage.

3. Homework/Class Participation: Students will be given various weekly assignments, map exercises and five unannounced quizzes throughout the semester. Students will also be expected to participate in structured classroom discussions. The course grade will be calculated as follows: First Examination 15% Second Examination 15% Third Examination 15% Final Examination 20% Paper/Project 20% Homework/Class Participation 15% 100%
