Traffic Based Usage Billing As a service provider, having all customers pay the same amount for the same bandwidth is not always the best business model. When some customers consume more and others less for the same bandwidth fee, business managers start considering their options. These competitive demands in the service provider industry has brought about tighter margins, and resulted in a need for usage-based billing. One of the goals has become to ensure that everyone is treated fairly. Most service providers have a general idea of what data they need from a NetFlow billing system, and they know how they would like to invoice on it. Whether you want to invoice on rate/second, total bits, IP addresses, ToS or some other combination of NetFlow fields, the Scrutinizer Billing Module can export exactly the data you need. The billing module routinely exports a custom CSV with the details you need. It allows you to, for example, bill based on a flat rate vs. a burst rate, as well as total amount transferred for the month. With the data export, invoicing possibilities are almost limitless. Invoices can include, but are not limited to: A fixed amount for any usage within the base rate (X mb). A higher charge for usage between the base rate and burst max (X+Y mb). More traditional billing is also possible, whereby the customer pays based on the 95% percentile technique.

Scrutinizer Billing Module Exports Through the intuitive configuration interface, any saved report in Scrutinizer becomes the basis for an export. Data is gathered from the raw NetFlow tables for 100% accuracy. ANY NetFlow field or range within a field is saved as part of the filter (i.e. report). Both inbound and outbound traffic are available. The entire contents of any report type can be emailed or exported in CSV format. Archives of all exports can be saved indefinitely for future reference. Exports occur on a routine basis. Rolling the data into larger intervals is possible. Exports are emailed or saved in a directory with a custom name, which includes a time stamp. Scheduled routines: - Prepare the data for further processing - Can write the data to another server Parsing the CSV can be done by Plixer or the service provider, as there is generally some customization involved with every unique invoicing need.

Customer Portal Customers can be provided with a secure login to access ONLY their data at any time. They can also use the interface to troubleshoot their bandwidth usage and filter in on odd traffic patterns. Automation of scheduled HTML reports to each customer is also possible. Service providers can use the portal as a message board to customers, as well as integrate other applications into the MyView interface. Pricing The Billing Module is included with the Service Provider Module.
