The Baptism of Moses (Typology) Lead Bible Verses Hebrews 11:29 By faith they passed through the Red

sea as by dry land: which the Egyptians assaying to do were drowned. 1 Corinthians 10:1-2 Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea; and were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea. It took faith to go through the Red sea, and Paul said that he didnt want them to be ignorant of the baptism of Moses. In other words you need to have intelligence concerning baptism of Moses! Parallels The word Exodus means (way-out) or (going out). The word Church means (called-out). In Exodus, Israel is in physical bondage and slaves to Pharaoh. In New Testament, Israel is in spiritual bondage to sin. In Exodus, Moses is God's messenger of deliverance to Israel. In the new testament Jesus is sent to Israel by his own words in Luke 4:18. The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, Deuteronomy 18:15-19 The LORD thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken; According to all that thou desiredst of the LORD thy God in Horeb in the day of the assembly, saying, Let me not hear again the voice of the LORD my God, neither let me see this great fire any more, that I die not. And the LORD said unto me, They have well spoken that which they have spoken. I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him. And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him. When Jesus spoke the words in Luke 4:18 the people wanted to throw him of the cliff they knew the scriptures. They did not see themselves as needing deliverance. When he told them in Luke 4:24 "No prophet is accepted in his own country." Just as Moses was cast out by his own brethren so they would try to do to him. The Exodus Exodus 1:10-14 Come on, let us deal wisely with them; lest they multiply, and it come to pass, that, when there falleth out any war, they join also unto our enemies, and fight against us, and so get them up out of the land. Therefore they did set over them taskmasters to afflict them with their burdens. And they built for Pharaoh treasure cities, Pithom and Raamses. But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew. And they were grieved because of the children of Israel. And the Egyptians made the children of Israel to serve with rigour: And they made their lives bitter with hard bondage, in mortar, , and in brick, and in all manner of service in the field: all their service, wherein they made them serve, was with rigour. In verse 10 Pharaoh uses lies and puts fear in his people that one day Israel could rise up and fight to overthrow them. Fear is a powerful weapon of any enemy.

Hebrews 2:15 and deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. Pharaoh did not fear Israel but had ideas of building cities Pithom was a mansion for his god Atum. Raamses was a city named for the sun god (Ra). The man who is not subject to the King of heaven will be subject to the prince and the devil (the power of the air) to build his kingdom. Galatians 5:17-21 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envying, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. So we see that the law of sin which every flesh is subject to is at war with the law of the Spirit. Exodus 2:23-25 And it came to pass in process of time, that the king of Egypt died: and the children of Israel sighed by reason of the bondage, and they cried, and their cry came up unto God by reason of the bondage. And God heard their groaning, and God remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob. And God looked upon the children of Israel, and God had respect unto them. They were in bondage for almost four hundred years. Why did it take them so long to cry in agonizing prayer for deliverance. God appeared to Moses with words of comfort as we read... Exodus 3:7-9 And the LORD said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows; and I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; unto the place of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites. Now therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Israel is come unto me: and I have also seen the oppression wherewith the Egyptians oppress them.

God sees, God hears, and takes knowledge what is happening in our lives. Moses gets some insight in God's promise but the plan is not all revealed. Moses will be taught faith in God by the Prophetic promise of God. 1. He will deliver them out of the hand of Egyptians. 2. Out of the land of Egypt 3. Give them land flowing with milk and honey. 4. They would serve God upon this mountain. Exodus 3:12 And he said, Certainly I will be with thee; and this shall be a token unto thee, that I have sent thee: When thou hast brought forth the people out of Egypt, ye shall serve God upon this mountain. Moses never was taught about God in Egypt, so it was time for him to ask a question. 13-15 And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say

unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? What shall I say unto them? And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you. And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations. He is the self existing one, God is who he says nothing can be added to his interpretation. When Jesus was in the garden they asked him this question, he told them "I am he." They went backwards and fell on the ground. They knew exactly what he meant. John 18:5-6 They answered him, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus saith unto them, I am he. And Judas also, which betrayed him, stood with them. As soon then as he had said unto them, I am he, they went backward, and fell to the ground. Exodus 4:2 And the LORD said unto him, What is that in thine hand? And he said, A rod. Exodus 4:17 And thou shalt take this rod in thine hand, wherewith thou shalt do signs. Exodus 4:20 And Moses took his wife and his sons, and set them upon an ass, and he returned to the land of Egypt: and Moses took the rod of God in his hand. The rod of authority to show signs and wonders in Egypt was in Moses hands. The rod of authority in the church is his name. Mark 16:17-18 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. Matthew 28:18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Moses goes to Egypt and when Moses lifts up the rod of authority judgement falls on all the gods of Egyptians. Exodus 7:19 And the LORD spake unto Moses, Say unto Aaron, Take thy rod, and stretch out thine hand upon the waters of Egypt, upon their streams, upon their rivers, and upon their ponds, and upon all their pools of water, that they may become blood; and that there may be blood throughout all the land of Egypt, both in vessels of wood, and in vessels of stone. Exodus 8:5 And the LORD spake unto Moses, Say unto Aaron, Stretch forth thine hand with thy rod over the streams, over the rivers, and over the ponds, and cause frogs to come up upon the land of Egypt. Exodus 8:17 And they did so; for Aaron stretched out his hand with his rod, and smote the dust of the earth, and it became lice in man, and in beast; all the dust of the land became lice throughout all the land of Egypt. Exodus 8:24 And the LORD did so; and there came a grievous swarm of flies into the house of Pharaoh, and into his servants' houses, and into all the land of Egypt: the land was corrupted by reason of the swarm of flies. Exodus 9:10 And they took ashes of the furnace, and stood before Pharaoh; and Moses sprinkled it up toward heaven; and it became a boil breaking forth with blains upon man, and upon beast. Exodus 9:23 And Moses stretched forth his rod toward heaven: and the LORD sent thunder and

hail, and the fire ran along upon the ground; and the LORD rained hail upon the land of Egypt. Exodus 10:13 And Moses stretched forth his rod over the land of Egypt, and the LORD brought an east wind upon the land all that day, and all that night; and when it was morning, the east wind brought the locusts. Exodus 10:15 For they covered the face of the whole earth, so that the land was darkened; and they did eat every herb of the land, and all the fruit of the trees which the hail had left: and there remained not any green thing in the trees, or in the herbs of the field, through all the land of Egypt Exodus 10:21 And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand toward heaven, that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, even darkness which may be felt. Exodus 12:12 For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the LORD. The Ten Signs 1. Nile river giver of live now smell of death. 2. All water becomes unclean by frogs. 3. The dust of the earth brings forth lice. 4. Flies spoil and ruin a lot of things. 5. Murrain on the cattle. 6. Boils on their bodies and animals. 7. Thunder and hail and the fire along ground. 8. Wind brought locust. 9. Darkness in the land for three days. 10. Death angel on the first born. Exodus 12:13 And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt. Exodus 12:15 Seven days shall ye eat unleavened bread; even the first day ye shall put away leaven out of your houses: for whosoever eateth leavened bread from the first day until the seventh day, that soul shall be cut off from Israel. Lets break this into 3 key points... 1. Judgement falls on all firstborn 2. Redemption is given to those who will obey. 3. Leaven bread (sin) must be put away or be cut off from Israel.

God was making a blood covenant with Israel and giving them ordinance that was for ever to be observed. On the same night over 2000 years later Jesus made a blood covenant with his

apostles. Matthew 26:26-28 And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body. And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it; For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission (forgiveness) of sins.

The blood had to be applied to the doorposts three areas the top and on each side of the two side posts. Why three times? Lets see in the new testament for the answer. Luke 22:42-44 Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, But thine be done. And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him. And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground. When we look into these verses we see that Jesus had to die to his own will. Mark 15:17-19 And they clothed him with purple, and platted a crown of thorns, and put it about his head, And began to salute him, Hail, King of the Jews! And they smote him on the head with a reed, and did spit upon him, and bowing their knees worshiped him. These verses shows a type of dying of his flesh and he gave his rights away. He being the King of the whole earth was being judged in the Praetorium. Mark 15:30-32 Save thyself, and come down from the cross. Likewise also the chief priests mocking said among themselves with the scribes, He saved others; himself he cannot save. Let Christ the King of Israel descend now from the cross, that we may see and believe. And they that were crucified with him reviled him. Here we see Jesus had to die to the will of men and the world. Romans 12:1-2 I Beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service and be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Some people will mock others for dying and not conforming to the world. True followers of Christ will be mocked for fasting, reading to much bible, praying to loud and even for having high standards of holiness. Matthew 26:28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. Hebrews 12:24 And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speak to better things than that of Abel. John 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

When Abel was killed his blood cried out to God for vengeance and since Abel was righteous. God heard and Cain was punished for this great sin. Judgement was executed and Cain was banished from the land and from the face of God. But Jesus blood cried out forgive them.

Luke 23:34 then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots. Satan must have been stunned he did not see mercy for the last book in Malachi and the last words were, "lest I come and smite the earth with a curse." But love covers a multitude of sins and mercy rejoices over judgement. At the foot of the cross there were a hand full of intercessors and God must of remembered the words of his dear friend Abraham, "Wilt thou destroy the righteous with the wicked?...Shalt not the Judge of all the earth do right?" Exodus 13:17-18 And it came to pass, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that God led them not through the way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near; for God said, Lest peradventure the people repent when they see war, and they return to Egypt: But God led the people about, through the way of the wilderness of the Red sea: and the children of Israel went up harnessed out of the land of Egypt. Some people preach the way of the Philistines is the way to cross and many are not in the way. Notice how that Moses is leading the people by pure faith for he did not tell them where they were going. Abraham had so much faith that he did things not knowing just believing. Jesus said "I am the way, the truth, and the life:" Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:29 By faith they passed through the Red sea as by dry land: which the Egyptians assaying to do were drowned. Isaiah 55:8-9 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. To help their faith God appears just in time to help Moses. Exodus 13:21-22 And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night: He took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people. John 3:21 But he that doth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God. Titus 2:11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, John 1:17 "... but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ." Grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. Truth leads men to salvation and is the light to a soul that is in darkness. Grace came and led them the way and protected them from a enemy they could not defeat. Exodus 14:5 And it was told the king of Egypt that the people fled: and the heart of Pharaoh and of his servants was turned against the people, and they said, Why have we done this, that we have let Israel go from serving us? The enemy needs people to serve in his kingdom and he does not give up that easy he will never give up until he is defeated. And God knew that Pharaoh needed to be destroyed. Exodus 14:10 And when Pharaoh drew nigh, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and,

behold, the Egyptians marched after them; and they were sore afraid: and the children of Israel cried out unto the LORD The people cry out to the Lord and they accuse Moses of bringing them in the wilderness to die how quickly they forgot. Many people believe they just have to call on the Lord to be saved. Romans 10:14-15 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! You need a preacher to be saved who has good news Moses is that preacher sent by God to deliver them from the hands of their enemy. Exodus 14:13 And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever. They have two choices jump in the Red Sea or get killed by Pharaoh. Great news, Moses says things he is under inspiration not in understanding look what he does. Exodus 14:15 And the LORD said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward: He is crying to God after giving such a powerful promise. Faith requires action or works. James 2:17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. Exodus 14:16 But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea. John 3:14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: Matthew 1:21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. Exodus 14:21-22 And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided. And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon the dry ground: and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left. Romans 6:3-4 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. Colossians 2:12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. Baptism is the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ as 1 Corinthians15-3,4 Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures. Paul said this message is what he received and this is the message he also delivered to them. When did Paul receive this message? Acts 22-16 Turn from power of darkness to light- repent they mat receive forgiveness of sins-----------------baptism in Jesus name inheritance among them which are sanctified by faithreceive the Holy Ghost.

Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Exodus 14:25-27 And took off their chariot wheels, that they drave them heavily: so that the Egyptians said, Let us flee from the face of Israel; for the LORD fighteth for them against the Egyptians. And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand over the sea, that the waters may come again upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots, and upon their horsemen. And Moses stretched forth his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to his strength when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it; and the LORD overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea. Colossians 2:12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him" Colossians 2:14-15 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it. Exodus 14:30-31 Thus the LORD saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians; and Israel saw the Egyptians dead upon the sea shore. And Israel saw that great work which the LORD did upon the Egyptians: and the people feared the LORD, and believed the LORD, and his servant Moses. Notice something astounding about this scriptures which says saved that day out of the hand of Egyptians. The word save means set free God chose the water grave of the Red Sea death and the grave were held back from their destroying power . They saw signs and wonders and yet they were never saved because their enemy was still alive. As it is written so beautifully..... 1 Corinthians 15:55-56 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. Revelation 20:14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. Romans 6:16-18 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you. Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness. The desire of all men is to be free. We can choose to be servants of sin or servants of righteousness. If we serve the lusts of the flesh we are not the servants of Christ. You cannot serve both you cannot serve two masters the choice is yours. Choose the works of the flesh or the fruit of the Spirit. Remission or forgiveness in Greek means "aphesis"- release from bondage, liberation from captivity, remission of debt, liberty, pardon and release from bondage... Acts 2:38; Acts 4:12; Acts 8:16; Acts10:48; Acts 22:16. Luke 24:45-47 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. The same day Israel came out the grave of the Red Sea is the same day over 2000 years later Jesus came out of the grave. It says he opened their understanding of the scriptures. He was in the feasts and celebrated with them, yet they did not see it. How can people claim they are saved yet remain in bondage? These have not been freed from the power of sin and Satan. The things are written here because of the Lord's help, and not according my own wisdom or understanding.

Freely I have received and freely I give to any who wish to understand the truth. Enjoy this article and be blessed by it!
