CENTRE FOR THE ARTS As a living Museion, the Castle will be functioning as a centre for exploration into the

philosophy and practice of art and for workshops on spirituality and the arts. In Euterpe, the Castle has space for artists to come and paint and work in various media and it is hoped the surrounding beauty will inspire their own creativity to come forth. Music and dance will also feature largely in Castle activities. IIPSGP also works closely with developments in the creative media (film, TV, DVD, internet, etc). The Castle is home to the International Order of Peace Poets and hence occasional poetry readings will be taking place in its great hall. An annual conference of poetry and peace is also scheduled. STUDY AND CREATIVE WRITING RETREATS Serious students of peace, literature, comparative philosophy, spirituality, ecology, education and the arts are invited to apply for a study retreat at the Castle. SPIRITUALITY, MEDITATION AND PRAYERS AT THE CASTLE A core part of what the Castle is about are our regular Peace meditations, which take place each day; the Castle is blessed with a superb Chapel space which will be used for regular prayer and worship sessions. Members of all churches, denominations and religions are welcome to apply to come on retreat. HOME TO THE DRUID PEACE ORDER The Castle is an ideal base to develop the ongoing life and work of the Order of Peace Poets, Bards and Druids, which strives to bring alive again the ancient Druidic teachings on peace and non-violence that were at the heart of their work and witness. GREAT HALL AND CHAPEL The Castle has a unique long Great Hall, conference room and chapel space, with a minstrel gallery at one end. The Great Hall will hold occasional peace banquets to celebrate particular holy days. GUIDED PILGRIMAGES These can be organised for specific guests who wish to journey on to visit other sacred places during their stay at the castle, especially Iona. By road, from Glasgow follow the A82 to Tarbet and join the A83 towards Rest and Be Thankful and take the B828 to Loch Goil. Glasgow is accessible by train, coach and air flights with a connecting train and bus service to Carrick Castle.
OPEN TO VISITORS BY ARRANGEMENT Although a private educational centre for ongoing scholarship and studies in peace and intellectual harmony, the Castle is open to visitors by prior arrangement, particularly those wishing to see the Peace Museum, or to spend some time on quiet retreat studying, meditating and researching the complexity of the current global situation and how we got into this predicament. INTERNATIONAL INSTITUTE OF PEACE STUDIES AND GLOBAL PHILOSOPHY

The Institute is unique among research centres throughout the world in that it combines training and practical work in conflict resolution with studying the entire range of global philosophical, scientific and spiritual traditions, together with the proactive search for global responsibility, peace and justice in our time.
THE BRITISH PEACE MUSEUM The Castle is the base for the British Peace Museum, a small private museum dedicated to the quest for peace and understanding in the world. Each of the 9 large rooms of the Castle is devoted to a particular Muse, and contains books, artefacts, paintings and sacred objects associated with the traditional archetypal energy of that Muse, who were the guardians of the original Academy. THE POSEIDON SEMINARS The Poseidon Seminars will be an annual forum where all those interested in debating, researching and discussing the future of both Britains own nuclear deterrent, and the global prospects for a nuclear weapons-free world, can come together in serious intellectual discussion and debate. CENTRE FOR PEACE POLICY RESEARCH CEPPR will attempt to tackle the enormous vacuum created by the lack of serious debate in the UK and among its allies in thinking through the long term prospects of a peaceful international order. CENTRE FOR TRANSPERSONAL HISTORY This new field of historiography is being pioneered at the Castle with a series of monthly talks by Dr Thomas Daffern on the last Saturday of each month covering all aspects of the historical sciences, considering the implications of the findings of transpersonal theory for historians. MEDIATION SERVICES (MULTIFAITH AND MULTICULTURAL MEDIATION SERVICE, MEDIATION SERVICE FOR HIGHER EDUCATION) Professional mediators are available to assist in resolving disputes in higher education or involving faith or cultural disagreements. COMMONWEALTH INTERFAITH NETWORK This network is for all those who wish to explore common spiritual values from across the diverse cultures and traditions of the 53 nations of the Commonwealth.

CENTRE FOR THE STUDY OF DIVINE INTELLIGENCE This project is a new venture in advancing dialogue, research and education on the cusp between scientific, spiritual and theological research, intended as a forum for all those who feel that the evidence of nature, and its grandeur, design, complexity, magnificence and apparent purpose and order, points to some kind of super-arching or Divine Intelligence at work behind the scenes. Psychologists have already argued that there is such a thing as spiritual intelligence. CSDI wishes to remain true to the lineages of enlightenment, sceptical and phenomenological inquiry, yet to move scientific discourse into a new dimension, namely the scientific study of the possibility of divine intelligence and its implications. THE TRUTH AND RECONCILIATION COMMISSION FOR IRELAND AND BRITAIN The Truth and Reconciliation Commission for Ireland and Britain is to create a forum for the reconciliation through examination of historic wrongs that different communities within Britain and Ireland feel were committed during the period of history in Ireland known as the time of troubles. THE TRUTH AND RECONCILIATION COMMISSION FOR THE MIDDLE EAST The Castle provides an ideal base for the ongoing work of the TRCME. THE SCHOOL OF NONVIOLENCE This project, founded in 1993 continues to examine the possibility of a pedagogy of non-violence, drawing on the works of great teachers of non-violence in past epochs, such as Mahavira, Gautama Buddha, Jesus, Pythagoras, Shankara, Fox, Tolstoy, Gandhi, Martin Luther King etc. THE COUNCIL OF MONARCHS This visionary project is working to help create an annual meeting for the reigning monarchs of the planet to act as a locus of order, peace and prosperity for the global community. SCIENCE AT THE CASTLE Urania, as the Muse of the natural sciences, is a core aspect of the Castles work, and we maintain an active interest in developments in science and technology that can usher in a more peaceful world order. IIPSGP believes that a new scientific revolution is needed to bring an era of energy stability, ecological harmony and wisdom technology. We encourage scientists from all over the world to visit the castle and share their research in a spirit of collegial cooperation. We are hoping to publish a 2023 updated 400th anniversary edition of Bacons seminal Advancement of Learning with the help of scientists world-wide.

GLOBAL GREEN UNIVERSITY The GGU is a small, informal, private, scientific higher education academy for those who love learning for its own sake, and who wish to be involved in the advancement of knowledge as a valuable enterprise in and of itself. CENTRE FOR THE PERIODIC TABLE OF THE WORLDS RELIGIONS AND PHILOSOPHIES A new classification, research and analysis tool for categorising and harmonising our perceptions of religious and philosophical traditions alike; an associated website www.thewisdompages.co.uk has also been set up to showcase this work and its future developments. TEACHING, TRAINING AND EDUCATIONAL RESEARCH The Castle will function as a meeting place for everyone involved in education to think through difficulties and solutions to the global learning deficit. SUMMER SCHOOLS The Castle will hold a regular Summer School for younger pupils to come and share ideas and discussions and learning about different cultures and philosophies. STUDY AND RESEARCH AT THE CASTLE This is a major feature of our work, and students and scholars are invited to visit the castle to undertake research programmes and private study. Formal lectures and courses take place regularly. THE CASTLE LIBRARY The library is a truly unique feature of the Castle. Numbering some 12,000 volumes, it is divided into 9 sections, each named after a different Muse. The publications of IIPSGP are available at www.lulu.com/iipsgp.
