Mars affliction & its cancellation Mars Dosh & its Cancellation in short: Vedic & KP View [1]

When does it really operateMars Dosha,as per K.P., is seen to operate when, Mars occupies Sun's star,or his own star, and is occupying houses I,II,IV,VII,VIII & XII (Source:http://groups.yahoo.com/gr oup/k_p_system/message/153 90 Please dont be worried to see Mars in 1 or 4 or 7 or 8 or 12 in every case.I have found more than 87% of Kundalies wherein Mars is present either in 1 or 4 or 7 or 8 or 12 th house. But in all Kundalies Mars Dosh is not there. The position of Mars and Venus are very important in judging marital relationships. Mars is the significator of husband in a female horoscope and Venus signifies the wife in the male horoscope. Mars is considered to be a natural malefic and so if it is positioned adversely or if it aspects the vital houses associated with marital bliss (2nd house signifying family, 4th house ruling happiness, 7th house indicating spouse, 8th house ruling longevity of the spouse, 12th house ruling bed-pleasures), there is Mars dosha or Kuja dosha in the horoscope and the horoscope is considered to be mangalik. This is the basic premise of Mars dosha and there are exceptions to this. It must be noted that there are several elements of much more importance than Kuja dosha in determining marital compatibility between two horoscopes. The very mention of Kuja dosha sends shivers down the spines of many and this has been the culprit in destroying the happiness of many families by preventing marriages that are otherwise compatible and anxiously wished for. This write up is an attempt to clear the common misconceptions about Mars dosha and to throw a light upon the remedies for the Dosha that are inherent in the horoscope. What is Mars Dosha? The classic Deva Keralam mentions: Dhana vyayecha paathaale jamitre chastame kuja: streenaam bhartu vinaasamscha bharthroonaam sthreevinaasanam A literal translation of this is if Mars is in the 2nd, 12th, 4th, 7th, and 8th houses in the horoscope of the female, the destruction of husband will occur; similar situation in the husbands horoscope causes destruction to the wife. The Lagna represents physical body, the Moon represents Mind and Venus represents sexual relationship in the context of assessing marital bliss in a horoscope. Therefore, the houses mentioned have to be reckoned with reference to all the three viz. lagna, Moon, and Venus. The dosha is considered to be weak when it exists only from the lagna, a little stronger if it exists from the Moon, and still more powerful from Venus. In common practice, most astrologers give primary importance to placement of Mars with respect to Moon and lagna only which is erroneous. IF KUJA DOSHA EXISTS IN THE HOROSCOPES OF BOTH THE BRIDE AND THE BRIDEGROOM, THEN THE DOSHA GETS CANCELLED. Pandit Dakshinamurti SaysThere are many good combinations which assure marital felicity regardless of the presence of Mars dosha in the horoscope. Granting that Mars dosha is a factor whose presence shouldnot be ignored, there are antidotes within the horoscope itself in many cases. The exceptions to Mars dosha which make it null are expounded in the ancient classics like Naraadeeyam (reputed to be written by Maharishi Naarad himself), Deva Keralam (another astrological classic), etc. According to Sage Naarada, there will be NO DOSHA if Mars is located in the 2nd and 7th houses in a FEMALE HOROSCOPE. Similarly, there will be NO DOSHA IF Mars is in the 4th and 8th houses of a MALE HOROSCOPE. There will be NO MARS DOSHA if the 2nd house happens to be Mithuna (Gemini) or Kanya (Virgo). There will be NO MARS DOSHA if the 4th house happens to be Mesha (Aries) or Vrischika (Scorpio). There will be NO MARS DOSHA if the 7th house is Makara (Capricorn) or Kataka (Cancer). There will be NO MARS DOSHA if the 8th house happens to be Dhanus (Sagittarius) or Meena (Pisces). There will be NO MARS DOSHA if Mars is placed in Kumbha (Aquarius) or Simha (Leo). There will be NO MARS DOSHA if Mars is in conjunction with Jupiter, Moon (waxing phase), or if it receives the aspect or conjunction of Mercury. There will be NO MARS DOSHA if Mars is in conjunction with Saturn, Rahu,or Ketu. (Of course, the presence of so many malefics in vital houses concerning marriage might affect marital bliss in other ways though Mars dosha gets cancelled!). If the owner of the house in which

Mars is placed (called dispositor of Mars in astro-terminology) is in quadrants (1, 4, 7, or 10) or trines (1, 5, 9 houses), then there the Mars dosha gets cancelled. 10. For Kataka (Cancer) and Simha (Leo) lagna or rashi natives, there will be no Mars dosha regardless of the placement of Mars in the horoscope. Conclusion and Remedies From the above discussions, it will be quite obvious that there are so many exceptions that make the Mars dosha void and harmless. These conditions should be carefully checked before branding a horoscope as mangalik. Well what should be done if the person has no exceptions and hence has strong Mars dosha? We must match the horoscope with another horoscope having similar dosha so that the effects get nullified between the couple. Mars dosha will also lead to delay in marriages for which there are various remedies that have been suggested like lighting of a lamp (with the skin of a lemon) on Tuesdays during Raahu Kaalam (approx. 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. local time assuming sunrise is at 6 a.m. and sunset is at 6 p.m.; if sunrise sunset timings differ, you should calculate the proportional part of the day divide the duration of day into 8 parts, and raahu kaalam on Tuesdays will fall in the 7th part) in honour of Durga Devi, undertaking Holy Fast on Tuesdays, propitiating Lord Skanda (Kaartikeyaa), etc. Apart from that a mantrik remedy is also there in which a particular mantra is to be chanted and the native has to circumambulate the pooja place anti-clockwise during the process. But this mantrik remedy can be done only on a personal visit of the native, and we cannot divulge it in a public forum as this is not known even to many vedic pandits. Various remedial measures are elucidated in the work KARMA VIBHAAGA also about these remedies. If you approach a person who is well-read in that, they can guide you in that. [2] Cancellation of Mars Dosha Cancellation will happen, if Mars is in his own signs - Aries or Scorpio Mars in Venus signs (Taurus or Libra) in 4th or 7th house Mars in Mercury signs (Gemini or Virgo) in 2nd house Mars in the house owned by Sun, Moon, or Saturn Mars in 8th house and house occupied by Mars is owned by Jupiter Mars becomes Yogakarak for Cancer born or Leo born people. For Cancer ascendant it is 5th and 10th lord and in 7th gets exalted and Yogakarak Status. For Leo ascendant it is 4th and 9th lord.So it will give good result if deposited in 1,4, [3] http://bharatiyajyotismantrasa adhana.blogspot.com/2010/03/ Kuja Dosh - Mars Affliction Affecting Married Life Mars in the 1st house, unless posited in Aries. Mars in the 4th, unless posited in Scorpio. Mars in the 7th, unless posited in Capricorn or Pisces. Mars in the 8th, unless posited in Cancer Mars in the 12th, unless posited in Sagittarius. Kuja Dosh, or Mars affliction, is an astrological condition which negatively affects a persons married life and domestic harmony. It is also one of the few astrological terms familiar to the Indian public. It occurs when Mars is in the 1st, 4th, 7th, 8th, or 12th house unless it is posited in a sign designated as an exception for that particular house. The reason kuja Dosh is so well known in India is that nearly all parents there consult an astrologer before arranging a marriage for their child. This is done, to a great extent, in order to find out if the condition exists so they may take measures to neutralize the problem before it has a chance to create misery. The effect of Kuja Dosh is to cause the person to be somehow victimized in his marriage. This can, of course, occur in any number of ways, but ultimately one is likely to end up divorced and generally through no obvious fault of ones own. The person will also have to endure hardships in the marriage generated by the spouse. The way out of this problem is for a person with Kuja Dosh to marry another who also has it. A person with Kuja Dosh does not have the nature to victimize his spouse, and therefore if both partners have the condition, its effect is neutralized. This is a simple procedure in India, where,

until only very recently, all marriages were arranged at an early age. However, for Westerners Kuja Dosh presents a major obstacle because of the way the condition works in relation tour culture, where a person chooses his own spouse. The mechanics of Kuja Dosh are such that it causes a person to be attracted to a partner who by his very nature cannot blend or function compatibly for any great length of time with that person. Therefore, one is quite simply at the mercy of his fate. Yet perhaps the most significant problem is that a person with Kuja Dosh will not feel much physical attraction or any special chemistry for another who also has the condition. Therefore, even with the knowledge of this situation, a Westerner is destined for trouble unless he is wise or patient enough to find a mate who also has Kuja Dosh, even though the great excitement most people seek may be missing. Kuja Dosh (also known as Mangal Dosh, since Mangal is another name for Mars) is a reliable astrological indicator and often reveals which partner out of a divorced couple was most put upon, deceived, or betrayed. It should also be mentioned that there are astrologers who consider the condition to occur when Mars is in the 2nd house rather than the 1st. The author does not agree with this school of thought, especially since Mars in the 1st negatively aspects the 7th, which is the house of marriage. There is no Kuja-dosham in any of the following case and Mars does not harm. KUJA DOSHAM The great Saint-Astrologers of ancient times mentioned in a slokam : ARKA, INDU KSHETHRA JATHANAM KUJA-DOSHO NA VIDYATHAE; SVA, UTCHA, MITHRA BHAJATHAANAM PEEDKO NA BHATH KUJA : 1. If Mars is in his own house; Mesham (Aries) and Vruschikam (Scorpio) are own houses for Mars 2. If Mars stays in one of his friends houses, Kuja dosahm is not applicable; Karkatakam (Cancer) is own house of Moon (Chandra); Simham (Leo) is own house of Ravi (Sun); Dhanasu (Sagittarius) and Meenam (Pisces) are own houses of Guru (Jupiter). 3. If Mars is in the own house of Sani; namely Makaram (Capricorn) and Kumbham (Aquarius). 4. Mesham (Aries), Karkatakam (Cancer), Thula (Libra), and Makaram (Capricorn) are movable signs (chara-raasis); if Mars stays in one of these houses and that chara-raasi (house) is 1, 2,4, 7, 8, 12th house from the house of birth (Lagnam) or the house of moon (raasi) or the house where Sukra (Venus) stays, there is no Kuja-dosham; Mars does not harm. 5. If Moon and Kuja are together in the same house, there is no Kuja dosham. 6. If Sani (Saturn) & Kuja (Mars), or if Kuja & Raahu or if Kuja & Kethu pair in same house. 7. If Mars & Guru (Jupiter),or Mars & Budha (Mercury) are together in the same house. Or if Guru or Budha are aspecting (seeing) Mars. 8. If a person is born in Karkatakam (Cancer), or Simham (Leo), or Makaram (Capricorn) lagna 9. If Mars is in 2nd house from the houses of Guru (Jupiter), Budha (Mercury) or Sani (Saturn). 10. If Sani (Saturn) is aspecting (seeing) Mars (Kuja). 11. If lagnam (birth house) or Moon (Chandra) or Sukra (Venus) is in the houses of Venus (Sukra), Vrushabham (Taurus) or Thula (Libra), and if Mars is in 4th or 7th house from the above. 12. If Mars is in 2nd or 12th house from lagnam (ASC) or Chandra (Moon) or Sukra (Venus) and those houses are own houses of Budha (Mercury), Mithunam (Gemini) or Kanya (Virgo). 13. If Mars (Kuja) is in 4th or 7th or 12th house from Lagnam (ASC) or Chandra (Moon) or Sukra (Venus) and those houses are own houses of Sukra (Venus), Vrushabham (Taurus) or Thula (Libra). 14. If Mars is in 8th house from lagnam, or Moon or Venus and that 8th house is the own house of Guru (Jupiter), Dhanasu (Sagittarius) or Meenam (Pisces). 15. The 7th house from lagnam (birth house=ASC=ascendant) is the house of spouse (kalathra); if Mars (Kuja) is in 7th house, the spouse may die in periods of Kuja (Mars). If that 7th house is Mesham (Aries) or Karkatakam (Cancer) or Vruschikam (Scorpio) or Makaram (Capricorn), no Kuja-dosha Well-known astrologers of present times, Relangi, Tangirala, Pidaparthi Poornaih wrote in their Panchangams (Ephemeris) and books, that Kuja-dosham is not applicable if there is Kuja dosham from lagnam and from Moon house and Venus house all three houses in same horoscope

[4] Other Related Doshas The cause difference of opinion, disagreement, dispute, divorce etc. among couple is not left to Mars alone, any planet can cause such undesirable effect provided they happen to be deposited in such a positions e.g. The sublord of that planet is significator of 6 or 10 or 12. If the same sublord also signifies 2 or 7 or 11, the problem will be there only for a short period of time. The sublord of a planet is Mars and Mars is significator of 6 or 10 or 12, there will be violence and separation The sublord of a planet is Saturn, silence and remain dumb-sit and strike (All above taken from: KP IV reader, Page 68, Sixth edition - June 1993) [5] Marriage related problem should not be connected to Mars Dosh in every caseSee below mentioned cases:Second Marriage Second marriage is indicated if the following two conditions are simultaneously satisfied: The sub-lord of the 7th cusp is deposited in a dual sign or in the constellation of a planet in or owning a dual sign or if the sub-lord of the 7th cusp is Mercury; and The sub-lord of the 7th cusp is also a significator of either of the houses 2 or 11. If any of the above two conditions is not satisfied, then second marriage is denied. (It is to be noted that signification of 7th house is omitted for the purpose of 2nd marriage.)
