TRAINING On completion of the IV and VI semesters Chemical Engineering students undergo six weeks long industrial training or internship. Some of the companies with which Department collaborates are: TPS Panipat, NFL, IOCL Refinery, IOCL RandD Faridabad, Reliance Industries, Ranbaxy Cipla, SRF, Samsung Energy, Asian Paints, BILT Yamunanagar, Wockhardt Lalru, High Polymer Labs, ISGEC, IFFCO, Siel Chemicals, IND SWIFT, GC Chemicals, PCPL Patiala, DRDO, BARC, Mathura Refinery, MOREPEN, TATA Chemicals, Nerolac Paints, Hero Honda, Maruti Udyog Ltd, Karnal Sugar Mills, Dabur, HPCL and HPL. AIChE Student Chapter: An AIChE student chapter was started in the department on 10 th March 2011. The student chapter aims to have interaction of the students amongst each other as well as to provide a technical platform to students for organizing technical activities, expert lectures, seminars and symposia etc. AICTE Projects: Two MODROB projects have been submitted by the department during 2010-11 to AICTE for modernization of the laboratories of the department and to strengthen the experimental infrastructure. M.Tech Students in Industry: Six students of final year M.Tech students were sent to R&D centers in industry (Reliance Industries Ltd, Vadodra) and a central govt. organization (CPPRI, Saharanpur) for carrying out their industrial projects as M.Tech Dissertation. This has provided the students with latest research infrastructure in the field and exposure to practical research. Faculty Improvement scheme (UGC): One faculty member; Mrs Manju Rani of the department; registered as PhD candidate in the department was allowed study leave for a period of two years under UGC Faculty Improvement scheme with effect from 15th April 2011. This will enhance the quality of faculty in the department. Five faculty members of the department are perusing higher studies already in the department and one at GGSIPU Delhi. International Publications: A book chapter of one faculty member Sh Surinder Singh was published in AIP Conference Proceedings 1247 in 2010. This was a selected paper and extended work was published as IAENG Transaction on Engineering Technologies. The same faculty member had also got a Certificate of Merit award at International Conference on Chemical Engineering at WCECS 2009 held at Sanfrancisco USA.
