"Democracy never brought freedom to anyone, nor preserved it."
Rev. Dr. Ray Pasold
If you doubt the veracity of this statement, consider the following:
1. The largest democracy that ever existed, where more citizens voted in election after election, was the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (U.S.S.R.). There was no freedom, the Communist Party ruled. It no longer exists. 2. The smallest democracy that ever existed, where every issue was voted upon by the entire citizenry, was Athens, Greece. There was no freedom, the mob ruled. It no longer exists. 3. "Universal Manhood Suffrage," defined as "One Man, One Vote," or in politically correct terms, "One Person, One Vote," never brought freedom to anyone, nor preserved it. 4. Fighting for Democracy (Rule by the Majority), instead of Freedom (Rule by Law), has been the death blow to Liberty. The only way to preserve freedom is with a government limited by a constitution that insures the liberty of all citizens, who choose their representatives. This is called a constitutional republic with limited democratic form (Rule by Law). The Rights of the Citizens must be acknowledged as endowed by the Divine and inalienable, not granted by the State. The following statements are not synonymous. Which would you choose? 1. I fight to bring democracy (Rule by the Majority) to the people of the world. 2. I fight to bring freedom (Rule by Law) to the people of the world. That makes it as clear as day. Rev. Dr. Ray Pasold
Under God (The following is by an unknown author)
In theory at least, the USA is a democratic republic. No, it is NOT. It is a Constitutional Republic with democratic form. After the Constitutional Convention, Benjamin Franklin was asked, what kind of government did you make? He replied, "A Republic, if you can keep it." He did not say a democracy. In the beginning, the Congress voted on issues and the Supreme Court voted on cases. Only the General Public, who owned land, voted for the House of Representatives. The State Legislatures voted for the Congressional Senators. The President and Vice-President were elected by Electors (Electoral College), voted for by the State Legislatures. That isnt a democracy, but democratic form. 1
THE DEATH BLOW TO LIBERTY
Now, of course, the Registered Voters, owning land or not, vote for the electors for the President, and also the Congressional Senators of their state. Again, that isn't a true democracy. Mob rule is not allowed in a Republic guarded by a Constitution which specifies Rights that cannot be negated by the government(s), since these Rights are derived from God, and not the State. (See the Declaration of Independence of the U.S.A.) That is why there is no such thing as Liberal Democracy in the U.S.A. and never will be. Stating that Liberal Democracy is fighting for our Liberty is pure propaganda, especially since the true definition of Liberal no longer applies to the Socialist Liberals of today. Period! one nation, under God, So if it's simply "ceremonial deism", why all the fuss about removing it from the pledge? So if it's simply "ceremonial deism", why all the fuss about keeping it in the pledge? ...That implies that you cannot be patriotic and are not a fully functional citizen of this country if you do not believe in the Judeo-Christian God, and that's hogwash. "Under God" does not imply the Judeo-Christian God! It simply means what it says, GOD. If you cannot and will not accept the fact of a Higher Power, call it God or something else, you cannot understand the founding of this nation, nor the precept of "God given rights." Therefore, you cannot be truly patriotic and are not a fully functional citizen of this country. Out of curiosity, what is it that is lost if "Under God" is removed from the Pledge of Allegiance? Everything stated above. Out of curiosity, what is gained if "under God" is left in the Pledge of Allegiance? Everything stated above. There is nothing here with our countries stamp of approval that God would approve of... so why act like He would? Apparently you know what God approves of and that God is a He. What do you base these two revelations on? I'll agree that we did not acquire this country of our own prowess, it was an inherited blessing. Yes it is (not was), and takes our prowess to preserve it and the Liberty it provides. But not like this... its not even close anymore. You can't tell the good guys from the bad. Your perception is faulty if you can't make that simple distinction. Why would you want to put God on anything that bears the shame of the USA? 2
THE DEATH BLOW TO LIBERTY
What shame? Where is God on anything that bears shame? Are you speaking of the Pledge of Allegiance or maybe our money? (In God We Trust) Enough said. Get the POINT? America Was Founded by Men Who Acknowledged God's Supreme Rule over Man "We hold these truths to be self evident; that all men are created equal and are endowed by their CREATOR with certain inalienable rights, that among these are LIFE, LIBERTY, and the PURSUIT OF HAPPINESSand that to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men." Different types of government: monarchy (rule by one); oligarchy (rule by a few); democracy (rule by the majority); and a republic (rule by law). America is a republic that elects its leaders through a democratic process. MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE At the age of sixteen in tenth grade American History class (1964), our teacher gave us a test with the question What form of government does the U.S.A. have? It was a multiple choice test with the following: monarchy, oligarchy, communism, democracy. I drew a box and put Republic, and checked that box. The next day when reviewing that test question I raised my hand and was called upon. I asked why he had marked my answer wrong since all the others were correct and I knew my history. He said it was not an answer available and democracy was correct. I stood up and said, You mean that all the years I have been saying I pledge allegiance to flag of the United States, and to the Republic for which it stands was wrong? A few seconds passed and then he yelled at me, Get out! Get out of my class and go to the office, now! Get out! I left and as I passed the other students they smiled at me and they knew I was right.
