CHILDHOOD In the late 300s, a rebellious teenage boy named Maewyn Succat was kidnapped by Irish pirates as he disobeyed

his parents. TIME IN IRELAND Maewyn was sold into slavery under High King Niall. He worked as a shepherd for six years, getting to know the people and their language FOLLOWING CHRIST More and more did the love of God, and my fear of Him and faith increase. After six years in slavery, God showed Maewyn in a dream that he was to run away 200 miles to the coast. A ship captain took him aboard, and over the course of the traveling, Maewyn led many of the sailors to Christ. LIFE IN A MONASTERY AND HIS CALLING Maewyn joined a monastery, under the guidance of St. Germanus, Bishop of Auxerre. He longed to see his own family and eventually traveled home to see them. While at home, the Lord spoke to him in a dream and called him back to Ireland to be a missionary there. BISHOP PATRICK RETURNS TO IRELAND Maewyn traveled to London and studied the Bible intensely. He received permission from the church leaders to be sent to Ireland. He and a small group of men were threatened with death by Irish tribal leaders and the Druids. VICTORY OVER THE DRUIDS Patrick and his men calmly burned a fire on a night where no fires, according to the Druids, were to be burned. King Lucetmal questioned them, and they calmly shared the gospel of Christ with the Druid high priest and the King. The angered Druid fell dead of a heart attack, the Queen asked to know more about Christianity, and the message of Christ began to spread throughout Ireland.
