CLB-2 training highlights for 3 August 2011.

H&S Co conducted section level training in the morning, which consisted of HMMWV classes and classes on the common #30 in the maintenance section. The HMMWV classes included proper PMCS and basic vehicle characteristics, capabilities and limitations and the common #30 classes included an introduction to all the components of the toolbox and crane operations. In the afternoon, instructors from BSTS taught machine gun courses to the H&S Marines. In addition to attending classes and practical application evolutions, the Marines from H&S also supported TS Co convoy operations with personnel from various sections, to include S-6, S-3 and S-4. The COC was fully functional and controlled two combat logistics patrols from TS Co (one day convoy and one day-into night convoy). Conducting these two convoys enabled the S-3 and other COC personnel the opportunity to exercise both sets of watch officers and watch shifts (day and night). The focus of the COC was on COC battle drills, information flow and the interaction between the COC and the mission commanders. In the evening, H&S Co conducted a voluntary PT session consisting of plyometrics and band exercises led by the Co Commander. TS Cos focus of effort for Wednesday was their two combat logistics patrols and the HST operations conducted by the LS platoon. In close coordination with the Bn COC, TS Co conducted one day and one night combat logistics patrol. These patrols received COC MESL injects as well as aggressor actions. All aggressor actions were closely coordinated and monitored by the Bn COC. Aggressors were armed with blank ammunition as well as an IED simulator. This training benefited not only the Marines from TS Co but the COC Marines as well - as it focused on both immediate actions drills and combat reporting/battle tracking. The respective platoon commanders as well as the Co and Bn staffs gained a true appreciation of the complexity of these types of operations and many valuable lessons were learned. The LS Platoon conducted night HST operations at TLZ Kite with CH-53s and MV-22s. In addition to the regular mix of LS Marines, the PSD Marines from 2/6 attached to the platoon and provided LZ security. The LS Marines conducted classes for the 2/6 PSD on basic LZ and HST operations. Ultimately, the Marines from 2/6 were able to integrate with the LS Marines and conduct HST operations. Mr. Jeff Peters, our FRO paid an extended visit to the BN today and was able to visit with Marines and took photos of Marines conducting training that he will post on the BN's Facebook site. Company training will continue tomorrow which will include TS Co receiving CAS classes from HMLA pilots from within MAG 29. TS Co will also continue with CLP operations. We still plan on sounding ENDEX at 1400, conduct a safety brief and brief priorities of work prior to commencing camp tear down. We are also closely monitoring TS Emily with the CLR-2 S-3; our S-2 provided a briefing with regards to the TS tracking and timeline. V/R,
