Some of Kimball's other black and white statements are: "The church is homophobic" versus "The church is a loving and welcoming community." (Kimball denounces those who take any kind of stand publicly against homosexuality.) Another: "The church arrogantly claims all other religions are wrong" versus "The church is respectful of other people's beliefs and faiths." Once again, Kimball says it can't be both ways. Christians who do claim that all other religions are wrong contrast those who are respectful of other people He says they can't be both.

Beauty for Ashes Spring-Summer Vol. 10:3 34 that the message of the Cross is offensive and foolish to the unbelieving heart: "For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God" (I Corinthians 1:18). Kimball says that "to them [the unbelievers], Christianity isn't normal." He adds: "This is really important to realize" (p. 29). But the Bible is so clear that those who belong to the Lord Jesus are not looked upon as normal by the world. In fact, Jesus tells us to expect it: If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you." (John 15: 18,19). Kimball says "Christians are now the foreigners in a post-Christian culture, and we have got to wake up to this reality if we haven't" (p. 30). He is desperate for this realization to happen saying "we aren't respected" by those outside the church nor are we sought after for advice by unbelievers (p. 30). But Christians have always been foreigners in the world, and they have suffered terribly for it. Throughout Christian history, there have been countless murders and atrocities that have been committed against Christians. Jesus said, "I am not of this world" (John 8:23) and also: "My kingdom is not of this world" (John 18:36). The apostle Paul said: "For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body...." (Philippians 3:20), and Jesus said: "I have given them Your word; and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world." (John 17:14) Perhaps what is most damaging about this book is Kimball's black and white, either or reasoning (the very thing he accuses Christians of). He makes it very clear that you cannot be a Christian who takes the Bible literally and also be a humble, loving thoughtful person. They are two different things, according to Kimball. There is no such thing as a loving, humble Christian who takes the Bible literally. His book further alienates believers in a world that is already hostile to those who say Jesus is the only way to salvation, the Bible should be taken literally, homosexuality is a

Beauty for Ashes Spring-Summer Vol. 10:3

This lovely quote from Jessie Penn Lewis expresses so much of what should be the life devotion of the children of God in these perilous times in 2007 - 2008 and on: If God has called you to be really like Jesus in all your spirit, He will draw you into a life of crucifixion and humility, and put on you such demands of obedience, that He will not allow you to follow other Christians, and in many ways He will seem to let other good people do things which He will not let you do. Other Christians and ministers who seem very religious and useful may push themselves, pull wires, and work schemes to carry out their plans, but you cannot do it; and if you attempt it, you will meet with such failure and rebuke from the Lord as to make you sorely penitent. Others may brag on themselves, on their work, on their success, on their writings, but the Holy Spirit will not allow you to do any such thing, and if you begin it, He will lead you into some deep mortification that will make you despise yourself and all your good works. Others will be allowed to succeed in making money, or having a legacy left to them, or in having luxuries. But it is likely God will keep you poor, because He wants you to have something better than gold, and this is a helpless dependence on Him, that He may have the privilege of supplying your needs day by day out of an unseen treasury. The Lord will let others be honoured, and put forward, and keep you hid away in obscurity, because He wants to produce some choice, fragrant fruit for His coming glory, which can only be produced in the shade. He will let others be great, but keep you small. He will let others do a work for Him, and get the credit for it, but He will make you work and toil on without knowing how much you are doing: and then to make your work still more precious, He will let others get the credit for the work you have done, and this will make your reward ten times greater when Jesus comes. The Holy Spirit will put a strict watch over you, with a jealous love, and will rebuke you for little words and feelings or for wasting your time, which other Christians never seem

33 against them either. While the book is a theological disaster, many new believers probably won't know that. That is to be expected. That is why we have pastors and leaders. But this presents some serious concern. One of the most respected leaders in Christendom has his endorsement in the book. Josh McDowell tells readers "it would be foolish" to not carefully study Kimball's book. Gregory Koukl of `Stand to Reason (an apologetics ministry) also endorses the book: With insight, gentleness, and an unswerving commitment to the wisdom of the past, Dan Kimball shows us what we don't want to see but must see if we care about the Great Commission in the twenty-first century. McDowell's and Koukl's endorsements are nestled between staunch emerging church/New Thought promoters: Leonard Sweet, Tony Jones, Mark Oestreicher (Youth Specialties) and several others. One example of Kimball's poor biblical theology is in his chapter titled: "The Church Arrogantly Claims All Other Religions are Wrong." Kimball refers to John 4 where Jesus talks to the Samaritan woman. Kimballs says: "He [Jesus] stopped and asked questions of the Samaritan woman and didn't just jump in and say, 'Samaritans are all wrong.'" But that is exactly what Jesus did! He didn't ask her any questions. Kimball has misled his readers! Jesus confronted her straight on, something Kimball says (throughout his book) is a terrible thing to do to an unbeliever. Listen to Jesus' words to the woman: Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father. Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. The woman saith unto him, I know that Messiah cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things. Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he. Kimball's entire premise is largely based on this type of faulty reasoning, that Christians should not do or say anything that might offend unbelievers, even if that anything is truth and Scripture. But the Bible says

Beauty for Ashes Spring-Summer Vol. 10:3 32 Kimball says these are "exciting times" we live in "when Jesus is becoming more and more respected in our culture by non-churchgoing people" (p. 12). He says we should "be out listening to what non-Christians, especially those in their late teens to thirties, are saying and thinking about the church and Christianity" (p. 12). According to Kimball, it is vitally important that we as Christians be accepted by non-Christians and not thought of as abnormal or strange. But in order to do that, he says we must change the way we live and behave. He says things like Christian bumper stickers (p. 40) and Christian words like "fellowship," (p. 41) are "corny" and might offend a non-believer or seeker. Kimball insists (p. 19) that "those who are rejecting faith in Jesus" do so because of their views of Christians and the church. But he makes it clear throughout the book that these distorted views are not the fault of the unbeliever but are the fault of Christians, but not all Christians, just those fundamentalist ones who take the Bible literally, believe that homosexuality is a sin and think certain things are wrong and harmful to society ... and actually speak up about these things. Incidentally, Kimball devotes an entire chapter to homosexuality, "The Church is Homophobic." Now his chapter titles are supposed to be what these skeptical, disheartened emerging generation persons see in the church. If we would not be homophobic, they would like us much better. Kimball explains: Quite honestly, and some people might get mad at me for saying this, I sometimes wish this weren't a sin issue [homosexuality], because I have met gay people who are the most kind, loving, solid, and supportive people I have ever met. As I talk to them and hear their stories and get to know them, I come to understand that their sexual orientation isn't something they can just turn off. Homosexual attraction is not something people simply choose to have, as is quite often erroneously taught from many pulpits. (p. 138) This is alarming that Kimball is saying this. Substitute the sin for pedophilia and hear how it sounds: "I sometimes wish molesting children wasn't a sin issue, because I have met pedophiles who are the most kind, loving, solid, and supportive people I have ever met." Kimball says (p. 110) we need to focus more on what we stand for rather than what we are against. If I had his views I wouldn't want anyone focusing on criticisms

5 distressed over. So make up your mind that God is an infinite Sovereign God, and has a right to do as He pleases with His own, and He will not explain to you a thousand things which may puzzle your reason in His dealings with you. He will take you at your word; and if you absolutely sell yourself to be His slave, He will wrap you up in a jealous love, and let other people say and do many things that you cannot do or say. Settle it forever, that you are to deal directly with the Holy Spirit, and that He is to have the privilege of tying your tongue, or chaining your hand, or closing your eyes. In ways that He does not deal with others. Now when you are so possessed with the living God that you are, in your secret heart, pleased and delighted over this peculiar, personal, private, jealous guardianship and management of the Holy Spirit over your life, you will have found the vestibule of Heaven. (End of quote). FAITH is needed at every step of this life on this fallen planet. Our Saviour knows what He is doing with you, beloved of the Lord. Consider the faith passage, Hebrews 11, what a list of trials and seeming disasters it gives to us. Awhile ago a missionary and his two sons from Australia were burned alive in their car by Hindu extremists in India. But, Hebrews 11 shows that the history of the people of God on this planet runs red with their blood! This horrifying incident in India is no isolated occurrence in a world teeming with rebels against the One true God, rebels who are controlled by Satan. Faith in the One who loves us so can master insurmountable difficulties. This inspiring quote from F. B. Meyer, written on Hebrews 11, is a joy to read. Praise God, He will take us through in triumph until we meet Jesus face-to-face in glory: There are many difficulties before us all. Stormy seas forbid our passage; frowning fortifications bar our progress; mighty kingdoms defy our power; lions roar against us; fire lights its flaming barricade in our path; the sword, the armies of the alien, mockings, scourgings, bonds, and imprisonment - all these menace our peace, darken our horizon, and try on us their power; but faith has conquered all these before, and it shall do as much again. We will laugh at impossibility; we will tread the shores of the seas, certain they must make us a way; we will enter the dens of wild beasts and the furnaces of

Beauty for Ashes Spring-Summer Vol. 10:3 6 flame, sure that they are impotent to injure us; we shall escape the edge of the sword, out of weakness become strong, turn to flight armies of aliens, and set at nought all the power of the enemy: and all because we believe God. Reckon on Gods faithfulness. Look not at the winds and the waves, but at His character and will. Get alone with Him, steeping your heart and mind in His precious and exceeding great promises. Be obedient to the utmost limit of your light. Walk in the Spirit, one of whose fruit is faith. So shall you be deemed worthy to join this band, whose names and exploits run over from this page into the Chronicles of eternity, and to share their glorious heritage.

Dan Kimball:

Is He or Isn't He?

OUR GOD IS FOR US, WHO CAN BE AGAINST US?

The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God.They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing; To shew that the LORD is upright: he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him. Psalm 92:12-15. A garden inclosed is my sister, my spouse; a spring shut up, a fountain sealed. Song of Solomon 4:12. How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God! therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings. They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house; and thou shalt make them drink of the river of thy pleasures. For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light. O continue thy lovingkindness unto them that know thee; and thy righteousness to the upright in heart. Let not the foot of pride come against me, and let not the hand of the wicked remove me. Psalm 36:7-11. Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: But let him that glorieth glory

While some begin to see the heresy of Brian McLaren and Doug Pagitt's teachings, confusion has arisen as to who is part of the emerging church and who isn't. As Roger Oakland has stated in his book, Faith Undone, there are certain key elements that distinguish emerging church leaders: promotion of mysticism (i.e., contemplative), kingdom-now eschatology, ecumenism, a laxed view of homosexuality, an anti-biblical overhauling of missions and evangelism, and a drawing toward Catholicism and its practices. The upcoming Rethink Conference (http://www.rethinkconference.com/ index.php?option=com_content &task=blog category&id=3&Itemid=14) hosted by Robert Schuller at the Crystal Cathedral will be including speakers who embrace many elements of this description. One of those speakers is DAN KIMBALL. In both his books, The Emerging Church (endorsed heartily by Rick Warren) and They Like Jesus But not the Church, Kimball displays true emerging church characteristics. As thousands of people will flock to Crystal Cathedral to hear contemplative proponents Kimball, Ortberg, New Ager Jon Gordon, Erwin McManus, H.B. London (Focus on the Family), and Kay Warren, may we warn our loved ones, friends, and fellow church members about belief systems that are anti-biblical and very misleading.

The following BOOK REVIEW should answer questions regarding the spirituality of Dan Kimball: Dan Kimball's new book, They Like Jesus But Not the Church should really be called They Like (Another) Jesus But Not the Church, the Bible, Morality, or the Truth. Kimball interviews several young people (one is a lesbian) who tell him they "like and respect Jesus" but they don't want anything to do with going to church or with those Christians who take the Bible literally.

Beauty for Ashes Spring-Summer Vol. 10:3 30 It was gone in a moment, yet it was worth heaven, eternity, everything. WHY? From that time on, Christ's disciples were no longer to relate to Him in an earthly way. From then on, Christ was to live in the life of heaven. When Christ was resurrected, He entered into a new life. His resurrection life is entirely different from what His life had been before His death. He is now in the power of the Spirit who fills heaven, in the power of the Spirit who is the power of the Godhead, in the power of the Spirit who fills our hearts. Thank God, Christ can reveal Himself to each one of us by the power of the Holy Spirit. Yet how He does so is a secret thing between Christ and each individual believer. Take this assurance, "Their eyes were opened and they knew Him," and believe that it was written for you. You may be able to say, "I have known the other three stages. I have experienced the stage of the sad heart, when I mourned that I did not know the living Christ. I have known the stage of the heart that is slow to believe, when I struggled with my lack of faith. And now I know the stage of the burning heart, in which I experience great times of joy and blessedness." If you can say this, then come and know the stage of the satisfied heart. You will have a heart that has been made glad for eternity, a heart that cannot keep in its joy but goes back to other believers, as the disciples went back to the believers in Jerusalem, and says, "It is true. Jesus has revealed Himself. I know it. I feel it." Beloved, how will this revelation come? Jesus will tell you. Just come to the Lord Jesus and say a simple, childlike prayer. YOU NEED TO COME TO JESUS YOURSELF. My work is done. I have pointed you to the Lamb of God, to the Risen One. You must now enter into the presence of the Holy One and begin to plead,

Beauty for Ashes Spring-Summer Vol. 10:3

7 in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the L ORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD. Jeremiah 9:23,24.

"Oh, Savior, I have come so that I might have this blessedness with me at all times-Jesus Himself, my portion forever."

Let us discuss together the strange period we are living through. To those who walk with the Lord God there is obvious compromise, deception, apostasy and departure from the Faith everywhere you look! To others who are living a worldly or carnal life, though perhaps saved?, you are the odd man out. They cannot understand the intolerance or unloving stance you are taking, they urge you to be more reasonable and to love and work with your brothers and sisters in Christ despite differences, even to honour and collaborate with the other religions amassing around us all. Even to bow down to the Pope. Maybe you are one who has resisted the entreaties to compromise, and you seem to find yourself marginalised in many ways? You dont fit into the society of the world, but neither do you fit into the churches or Christian society. You see others happily going along to bright-looking churches, crowds are there making friends and enjoying company. Maybe your more reasonable relatives or friends have leadership roles in these denominations, they are having great success and receiving honour from others - and you sit looking on in wonder. You say in your heart, I cannot accept those teachings, and music, and ghastly fake bibles. I would rather be never seen again than follow that rich and powerful leader who sprouts proud and evil heresy. Yet, you wonder too why you are not finding Christians of like mind, and you feel rather a failure compared with those who have preaching positions, singing ministries and the like in the denominations and groups of the apostate churches. Or maybe you are just lonely for fellowship, and your often empty lounge room bears witness to the fact that few people visit you now. You have a name for being a fanatic over end time matters, and you have a name for finding fault over any little thing. Better keep

AN AGE OF DEVIATION FROM BIBLICAL DOCTRINE.

Beauty for Ashes Spring-Summer Vol. 10:3 8 away from you, you might find fault even with beloved... Rick Warren or Benny Hinn, or God forbid, those grand old saints Robert Schuller and Billy Graham. Why, you wont even listen to Hillsong music.

29 the throne, making Himself known to you. Surely this is the secret of purity and the secret of strength.

But, this is your time, and mine as well, to allow God to lead us deeper into crucifixion and humility. Let Him deal with you without struggle, you have only to please God alone, not men. You are a garden inclosed, a spring shut up, a fountain sealed. The Lord will let others be honoured, and put forward, and keep you hid away in obscurity, because He wants to produce some choice, fragrant fruit for His coming glory, which can only be produced in the shade. Can I share with you my own experience re these events? I was a fervent church-goer for many years; I worked in many areas of Christian ministry. But, for a lot of those years I was aware of a falling away happening, it was getting worse and worse, not many cared or even realised. I, and others with me, began to delve deeper, we uncovered astonishing matters, a deliberate ruination of the fabric of the whole Biblical Christian faith leading the denominations more and more into the global One World Church. I sought to open the eyes of pastors and other Christians, and after awhile found myself pushed out and away! I would not cooperate, I was an alarming trouble-maker. It is a long complicated story, but behind it all we, co-workers and I, overseas and local, found that Satan was using, above all, the Dialectic. This astonishing psychological tool is woven into all that is making up the Satanic One World Church. It is all about compromise, being tolerant and accepting, and letting Gods Truth be muddied up until it is no longer recognizable. We Biblical Christians need to get down to work heavily on this Dialectic and grasp what compromise does and how serious and sinister are the mind games being played with us all - spiritual skulduggery from the high places, as outlined in Ephesians 6:12. Compromise, tolerance, putting up with things, refusing to call

Where does the strength of so many believers come from? It comes from the joy of a personal friendship with Jesus. If those disciples had gone back with their burning hearts to the other disciples, they could have told them wonderful things about a man who had explained the Scriptures and the promises to them, but they could not have said, "We have seen Jesus." They might have said, "Jesus is alive; we are sure of that," but this would not have satisfied the others. Yet now they could go back and say, "We have seen Jesus Himself. He has revealed Himself to US." Most believers are happy to work for Christ; however, there is a common complaint throughout the church, from the ministers in the pulpit to the least-noticed Christian workers, of a lack of joy and a lack of experiencing the blessings of God. Let us try to find out whether or not the secret of joy may be found where the Lord Jesus comes and shows Himself to us as our Master, and then speaks to us. When you have Jesus with you, and when you take every step with the thought that it is Jesus who wants you to go, that it is Jesus who sends you and is helping you, then ,there will be brightness in your testimony. Your experience will help other believers, and they will begin to understand, too. They will say, "I see why I have failed. I received the Word, I received the blessing, and I thought I was living the life of Christ, but I did not allow the living Jesus to be a constant, daily presence in my life." Perhaps you may now be asking, "How will this revelation of Christ come?" This is the secret that no one can know, that Jesus keeps to Himself. It will come in the power of the Holy Spirit. The disciples on the road to Emmaus had a revelation of the living, risen Christ. The Scripture says, "THEY KNEW HIM." He revealed Himself, and then He vanished from their sight. Was that vision of Christ worth much?

THE NEED FOR A FRIENDSHIP WITH JESUS

Beauty for Ashes Spring-Summer Vol. 10:3 28 heavenly the teaching was. There are many Christians who discover that the best time of the day is when they can read and explore their Bibles, and they love nothing more than to get a new spiritual insight. As a person who mines diamonds rejoices when he has found a diamond, or someone who digs for gold when he has found a nugget, they delight when they get some new thought from the Bible, and they feed upon it. Yet even with all their interest in God's Word, and with all the joy that is stirred in their hearts, when they go to their work or attend to their daily duties, they find that there is still something missing in their lives. From time to time, we must leave all the many and diverse blessings that Jesus gives us and come to the one blessing that encompasses them all: the blessing that Jesus makes Himself known, that Jesus is willing to make Himself known to us. If I were to ask, "Is this not exactly what you and I need, and what many of us have been longing for?" I am sure you would answer, "Yes, this is what I want!" Think of the blessedness that will come from it.

Beauty for Ashes Spring-Summer Vol. 10:3

Oh, the peace my Savior gives! Peace I never knew before, And my way has brighter grown, Since I've learnt to trust Him more .
I recently received a letter from someone who wrote what a wonderful comfort and strength the above poem had been in the midst of difficulties and troubles. But how can a person maintain peace in his life? It was the presence of Christ that brought the peace; therefore, peace must be sustained through the continual presence of Jesus. Remember that when the storm on the sea was threatening to swallow up the disciples, it was the presence of Christ Himself that brought the peace. Do you want peace and rest? Then you must have Jesus Himself. You talk of purity, you talk of cleansing, you talk of deliverance from sin. Praise God, the deliverance and the cleansing come when the living Jesus comes and gives power. Then you have the resurrected Christ, the heavenly Christ who sits on

9 matters that deny the Word of God apostasy, having no dogmatic theology when Truth is demanded from God. This is what the Dialectic is all about. Being willing to let God and Truth down, for the sake of relationship and making a place for ones self. It is about letting your feelings take top place instead of Truth and God. Nietzsche used to say, There is absolutely no absolute. This is a key component of the Dialectic, the Hegelian Dialectic. It means today that should anyone say something is right or wrong, true or false, the politically correct reply would be that we humans make our own rights and wrongs, truths and errors, there are really no absolutes. This concept has filtered into everything these days, white-anting the structures of society, business, education, and religion. This is why the popular saying you have your truth and I have mine is used so much. Truth has become just something that an individual invents and is comfortable with. Science has headed down that track for a long time, as this quote from the pop science magazine Cosmos shows: So if we arent born bad or indifferent, does this mean we are born all set up to do good? Marc Hauser, who studies cognitive evolution at Harvard University, proposes scenario. There is no one morality, he say s. Killing, for instance, is not always wrong. A review of various cultures around the world today and throughout history confirms this. In the Arab world, over 2,000 w omen die every year from honour killings. U ntil 1977, in Georgia, USA, it was justifiable to kill someone to prevent adultery. In China, thousands of infants were killed during the on e c hi ld pol ic y . I n di ffe ren t cul tur es an d u nd er cer ta in circumstances, killing becomes socially acceptable. Cosmos 17, Oct/Nov 2007, p. 57. The article in Cosmos is called The Moral Animal and tries to prove that animals have morals and empathy, and that humans are not born in sin but that human empathy is complicated and flexible as human morality is. Says Hauser: I believe were born with a moral capacity to acquire a particular kind of moral system. Which system depends on the culture.

Beauty for Ashes Spring-Summer Vol. 10:3 10 Science has headed down that track for a long time, as this quote from the pop science magazine Cosmos shows: So, to the modern unsaved mind morals and virtues are developed by the culture, and in some circumstances sin that is utterly wicked in Gods Word is declared virtue by society. This is the global world mind set under the international governance which is humanistic and anti-Christian, ungodly and devilish. These are Dialectic thinking skills, and Christians should realise afresh how imperative it is that we stay full on committed to Gods Truth alone. How does this work out when we are faced with choices about being tolerant and loving and seeking to define what we should do before God when we want to find a place for ourselves in the current religious scene in Christendom, and the world society? Lets think a bit about this, and see what Gods Word commands us to do.

Beauty for Ashes Spring-Summer Vol. 10:3

PLEASING GOD ONLY - MEANS SITTING ALONE ON A ROCK? MAYBE - O.K.- SO BE IT.
There are so many choices today between right and wrong and true and false that we would get hopelessly bogged down if we did not have that wonderful, stupendous miracle Gods inspired Word. The world and the churches today rattle on something like this: He says this, they write that, she teaches this, that church holds this doctrine, that other fellowship does not, but the schools say this, universities have shown this, science and psychology have found out - and we have to move in a multi-faith society, surely! Tolerance is the only way to world peace. They tell us: We have to admit that others have the right to present their own beliefs, and show what they believe is right, and it is wrong of fundamentals and the dogmatic hard-heads to expect everyone to agree with their own particular brand of theology. To get together and make an impact Christians must cooperate somewhere, lets be a bit more loving and understanding. So they say! Is this a correct stand? Not if you want to please God only.

27 When the Lord Jesus was here on earth, what was it that distinguished His disciples from other people? The answer is that Jesus took them away from their fishnets and their homes. He gathered them around Himself, and they knew Him. He was their Master; He guarded them, and they followed Him. And what is supposed to make the difference today between Christ's disciplesnot those who are just hoping to get to heaven, but Christ's wholehearted disciples-and other people? It is this: fellowship with Jesus every hour of the day. When Christ was on earth, He was able to keep the disciples with Him for three years, day after day. Now that Christ is in heaven, He is able to do what He could not do when He was on earth-to keep in the closest fellowship with every believer throughout the whole world. Praise God for this. You may know the verse in Ephesians that says, "He who descended is also the One who ascended far above all the heavens, that He might fill all things" (Eph. 4:10). Why was our Lord Jesus taken up to heaven, away from the life of earth? He ascended to heaven because the life of earth is confined to localities, but the life of heaven has no limits, no boundaries, and no localities. Christ was taken up to heaven so that, in the power of God, the omnipresent God, He might be able to fill every one of His followers on earth and be with every individual believer in a personal way. This is what my heart wants to experience by faith. It is a possibility, it is a promise, it is my birthright, and I want to have it. By the grace of God, I want to say, "Jesus, I will not rest until You have revealed Yourself fully to me." Oftentimes, people have very blessed experiences during the stage of the burning heart. One of the major characteristics of this stage is that believers delight in God's Word. How did the disciples receive their burning hearts? It was through the way in which Christ opened the Scriptures to them. He made it all look different and new, and they saw what they had never seen before. They could not help feeling how wonderful and how

Small though your ministry be, tiny though your group of believers are, the saints of God are here on earth to please God Almighty alone and to be His witnesses. J.C. Ryle wrote these thrilling words:

1 1 We Christians must be obedient to Gods Truth no matter what others say or believe. Maybe we personally can make mistakes at times in doctrine or attitude, but let us make our own mistakes not somebody elses. Be true to your own understanding before the Lord and dont cut corners in order to fit in. Be SURE that you know Bible doctrines, study to show yourself approved of God in these matters. Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 11 Timothy 2:15. Doing this will often end, you probably know this already, with people being unhappy with you, or leaving you out of the loop. This doesnt matter in the long run. What will it be, Gods Truth or relationships? Consider two issues which are important ones in 2007/2008. 1. Ther e is controver sy amongst Christia ns a b out the new bible versions. Some say that there is nothing basically wrong with the NIV, the Message, the NKJV, the Revised Standard, the L iving Bible, NASB, H CSB, Ca tholic Ver sion, etc, etc. Others declare that the only true Bible is the KJV. Does it matter that KJV only is maintained or not? Wouldnt it be better to be united with good Christian people w ho us e moder n v er sions tha n sepa r a te d ov er w ha t is a minor issue, surely? Shouldnt we feel love and understanding towards our brothers and sisters who disagree about this issue? What does pleasing God only mean? GOD has declared these dynamic and shocking commands: Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you. Deut. 4:2. For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. Revelation 22:18,19.

This is the church which does the work of Christ on earth. Its members are a little flock, and few in number, one or two here and two or three there - a few in this district and a few in that. But these are they who shake the universe; who change the fortune of kingdoms by their prayers; these are they who are the active workers for spreading the knowledge of pure religion and undefiled; these are the lifeblood of the country, the shield, the defense, the stay, and the support of any nation to which they belong. (The True Church ).

The question is often asked, What is the reason for the weak spiritual lives of so many Christians? This is an excellent question, for it is remarkable how little the church responds to Christ's call, how little the church is what Christ wants her to be. What is really the matter? What is actually needed? Various answers may be given, but there is one answer that includes them all: each believer needs the full revelation of a personal Christ as an indwelling Lord, as a satisfying portion.

THE NEED FOR A REVELATION OF CHRIST

12

It is impossible to overemphasize the importance of studying and preaching from the true Word of God. All other apostasies are in a sense outside the very intimate devotional life of the believer. The Bible we use is right in close, or should be, to every believers home and personal study. Poisoned bibles are making multitudes sick spiritually and these Satanic counterfeits are deadly. They are killing those who have never really been born again. It is black and white wrong to compromise with others who insist on ignoring all the research and exposing of the New Age bible versions that has gone on over the last years. This is not a minor issue, it is a core, crux, central concern. The only true Bible we have is the King James Bible, the others are phonies filled with deliberate alterations, wickedly devised to destroy Gods Truth. You dont believe that? Then study up on the FACTS. Get In Awe of Thy Word/DVD Expositions by G.A. Riplinger, A.V. Publications Corp. OR Final Authority , by Dr. William P. Grady, Grady Publications Inc. Why would anyone know the facts and still cooperate with the disobedient and wilful teachers who defy Gods Truth and use the New Age bibles? Mostly they do this because they want to fit in, to be tolerant, to have relationships with those teachers and preachers and their congregations. This is also about the DIALECTIC. Churches have nothing left if they have no true Word of God - this is where we have fallen today. Confusion and error reigns - mainly through these accused fake bibles. Some may say, but I need to be used in Christian circles, I do not want to be of no use. If I make an issue over Bible versions I will not be showing love to others, and I will find there are few openings for service. Then so be it, as we quoted above. One cannot show love to others unless love towards God is paramount. He shows us how to love. Service is only what God decides, real service is not using Christianity to be a success for self. Many Christians will be horrified before the Bema judgement seat of Christ to find that their supposed service was meaningless and fruitless because it was not of God - it was all self living in compromise.

25 I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. Colossians 2:20. The early Christians were just a few saints, they had no political clout and they were not violent people with armies working with them. But, saints like those changed the world through the ages, over and over again. We remnant Bible believers who are sold out for Christ are their descendents, we are following on from them in our day. They were seen as sectarian and bigoted, so may we be, but it has always been so. A staunch Scottish evangelist, John Kennedy, wrote: No Christian can be true and faithful on whose brow the world shall not brand the name bigot. But let him bear it. It is a mark of honour, though intended to be a brand of shame. In every age from the beginning, when the cause of truth emerged triumphant from the din and dust of controversy, the victory was won by a band of bigots who were sworn to its defence. Christians who want to please God cannot compromise with Apostate Christendom which is unifying the One World Church even as I write. Underneath this mighty union, with the Catholic Church and every Emergent delusion that has polluted that Emergent oneness, there is a bloodthirsty interior that has not emerged yet! It has always been so and always will be! Blood will flow for those who expose and denounce these evils. Refuse to join the ecumenical and multi-faith global cartel and you will end up a lamb for the slaughter. DO NOT COUNT THE COST speak out the true Gospel, the authentic TRUTH IN GODS WORD, touch not the unclean thing. Protestants as well as the Roman Catholics are moving deeper into these shocking and wicked pagan practices and beliefs: The sacrifice Mass of the Eucharist;

(a) We need to know experientially that we have no hope in ourselves; we are hopeless on any legal ground. (b) He is our only hope to keep us from sinning. ( c) There is no hope in our own wisdom or power. We need a complete annihilation of hope from any source other than HIM. We cannot fight our spiritual enemies or stand firm in this ghastly New World - in ourselves. (d) We need a revelation from the Holy Spirit on Christ Jesus Who lives within us being our living HOPE. (e) Receive Him in this relation to you as a Blood-bought being. Abandon forever any hope in self. (f) If you can see that He alone is the only hope of your soul, spiritually receive Him as this, rest in Him and make no efforts in any direction without Him. Give up. Utterly lean upon Him. We are NOT earth dwellers in the Bible language; we are IN CHRIST and HE IN US. Revelation 12:12. Isaiah 18:3. Satan is yet to come in mighty power in the Tribulation, but Satan has not finished with US yet! Ephesians 6:10-18. Be STRONG IN THE LORD, the whole armour is CHRIST JESUS HIMSELF. The armour OF GOD. The Word of God is CHRIST, the Living Word as well as the written LOGOS. the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ; In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. Colossians 2:3.

HOPE is CHRIST HIMSELF. 1 Tim 1:1; Col 1:27;

13 Is this an issue about you have your truth and I have mine? No, it has been proved without one shadow of a doubt that the New Age contemporary bibles are corrupt and this destruction has been done deliberately. Stand for Jesus Christ and Truth, do not give in to pressure of soft and fake tolerance. Those who will not accept this are either not ready to study the evidence for reasons of expediency, or they actually know the facts but will not make their stand because it is not in their own best interests. Same thing really. Satan has had a major victory, for although keen Christian scholars have caught on to the New Age bibles PLOT many, many church goers and pastors are still defending the diabolical counterfeits, mostly because they dont dare stand up and be counted. They fear losing their congregations, and not being able to pay the often large debts to banks for their elaborate buildings. What a shameful situation. If everyone who knows the truth on this would be brave enough to make a stand, maybe God could rid some churches of these monstrosities. 2. Is the doctrine of eternal security a minor issue? Some learned sounding teachers today will insist that the doctrine of eternal security in Christ Jesus is not that important, some very solid preachers and writers dont hold that doctrine, and it is not dogmatic theology - so the theory goes! They have their interpretation, you have your interpretation - leave them alone, they have their truth and you have yours. Sounds familiar, doesnt it? Then something like lets agree to disagree, and get on with spreading the Gospel could be said. Or a dialogue might develop, this verse in opposition to that verse, and maybe Christians will still say: we all have our interpretations on this, some denominations say one thing, some another - we cant expect everyone to agree to our own brand of doctrine and practice! However, eternity security under the New Covenant in Christs Blood is hardly a minor issue, it is actually the very foundation of all doctrines and every part of the Christian Faith, it is the BIG doctrine. It is an essential part of the Gospel they say they are preaching. Why? Because it honours and authenticates the efficacy of the Blood, and it shows that sinners are saved By Faith alone, by Grace alone, and by Christ alone. There are no works in justification by Grace; sinners who

We Christians need to get right back to BASICS. We are the saints and we are a royal priesthood, God calls us that, see 1 Peter 2:9. It is a good thing that you do not amount to much in your own estimation, for God is only pleased with what we see CHRIST as, in all His glory. I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh

Therefore when some pastor declares that sinners can be lost after truly being saved, because of not keeping on with good works or by committing sin wilfully, or by not enduring to the end, then that pastor has another Jesus, another Gospel, he has defied the teaching of the Word of God. He is teaching a false gospel that demands works. He denies that the Blood of Christ saves alone and covers all sin! He denies Christs sacrifice for sin! If these false gospels proliferate, and they are doing so, or if Bible Christians act as if it really doesnt matter if salvation by Grace through Faith alone is really preached, then the Church is in danger of losing justification by Grace through Faith altogether. This happened before in history, the Reformation had to fight and saints had to die in order to bring back these glorious revelations of God. Of course it matters what is taught about being saved, the ground of salvation is in Christ alone. It is not a matter of their truth versus your own truth. It is a matter of what does God say. And He shows without one shadow of a doubt that the Blood of Christ Jesus avails for saved sinners, and they can never lose what is given by Grace alone. How could they? By lack of works? No, works are not required by God. By falling into sin? No, sin is covered by the sacrifice of Christ, God sees the sinner under the Precious Blood.

Christ is the actual fountain of life: Psalm 87:7; Psalm 36:9; Proverbs 14:27. 4. Christ is our peace; HE is the Prince of peace: Isaiah 9:6; John 14:27. The Person of Jesus is peace. Isaiah 26:12. We need to let Him fill us. 5. Christ Himself is Truth: Let Him dominate your life, and open the Bible to you. He does not just teach Truth - He is the embodiment of Truth, in Himself. 6. Christ is the Almightys Strength - all for us, to be appropriated IN HIM. If we want entire sanctification in Christ, we can have Christ spiritually as Strength: Psalm 18:1; Ps 19:14; Ps 31:4; Ps 53:2; Ps 59:17; Ps 144:1; Isaiah 27: 5; Jere 16:19; 11 Cor 12:9. Do you believe Christ Jesus is really IN you? There are so many other relations of Christ to us that we have not dealt with here - move on and FULLY RECEIVE HIM for He is All in All. King, Bridegroom, Mediator, Brother, Friend, Guide, The Way, The True Light, The True Vine, The Bread of Life, Governor, Healer, Advocate et al. These are ALL intensely important relations to us who are IN CHRIST. All are reality that we need spiritually, not in doctrines in our heads. We need to have revelation on all of this from God, just as we had revelation on Christ as Saviour and Sacrifice for sin, the Lamb. Then, accept on and on! Dont live in the shallow waters of Christ! We need waters to swim in!

THE LAW IS A WORKS SYSTEM; WE ARE NOT UNDER THE LAW.

Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things w hich are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded Philippians 3: 8-15. 1. Christ is our Saviour to the uttermost. In every area of our lives He wants to save and bless us. Hebrews 4:24-28. He has this ministry to us through the New Covenant or Testament. We must learn to deeply appropriate everything our High Priest wants to give us. 2. Those who do not do this, although saved, are in danger of receiving another Jesus, another Gospel. Satan wants to corrupt our minds from the simplicity that is in Christ. 11 Cor. 11:3. In LEGALITY Christians can lose their blessing. We must yield to God so that CHRIST can be formed in us. Galatians 4:19-21; Romans 9:30-33.

Beauty for Ashes Spring-Summer Vol. 10:3

THE PERSON of CHRIST is our whole gift, in HIM is found all we need, we only have to have revelation upon this fact in every situation. He does not give ourselves His wondrous attributes, HE becomes what we need. That is why we must accept the crucified life: Galatians 2:17-21; Galatians 5:24-26; Galatians 6:14.

CHRIST IS TO US THE WHOLE GIFT OF GOD.

All of these relations and offices are spiritually discerned, not just doctrines. They are not to be understood with the head, they are to be received in reality, God must give you revelation on these! 1. Jesus Christ will save you from the power of sin: Colossians 3:11; Romans 6:5-11. HE is our righteousness and sanctification. 1 Cor. 1:30, 31. 2. Jesus Christ is our own health and endurance: 1 Cor. 6:13; Romans 8: 1-11 (note verse 11).

SOME OF THE RELATIONS OF CHRIST TO US.

1 5 of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified. But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is therefore Christ the minister of sin? God forbid. For if I build again the things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor. For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God. I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain. Galatians 2:16-21. Thank God for His Grace and the provision for your sin, Christ taking your punishment on the Cross. Then let Christ fill you with His righteousness and live by the power of the Holy Spirit a holy life - to Christs glory alone. Live a holy life by Gods Grace filling you, not in order to be saved, but because you are saved: What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. Romans 6:1-6. What does pleasing GOD ALONE mean in this instance? It means not denying justification by Grace through Faith alone, by Christs shed Blood alone, in any way. Not by treating this doctrine lightly, not by compromising with it for relationships sake, and not by being confused with verses that are quoted by those who do not know

Beauty for Ashes Spring-Summer Vol. 10:3 16 better which are out of kilter with the proper framework of Scripture. There are many quite shocking examples of this misquoting and muddling up of various verses in our times! God is not a God of confusion; His Word does not say one thing in some place and another thing somewhere else. We can never lose our salvation for it is all what CHRIST has done for us. His Blood avails for me and you. Bible passages which are misunderstood and twisted include: Hebrews 6: 1-9; Hebrews 10:24-31; Mark 3:28-30. (If anyone wants clarification on these passages write and we will give you Bible study on them. Rightly dividing the Scriptures). The following passage alone is enough for me, and it should be for you. Stand up for justification by Grace through Faith alone! You will be standing for and honouring Christs sacrifice then! Who shall lay any thing to the charge of Gods elect? It is God that justifieth. Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8: 33-39.

21 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory: Colossians 1:27. If we are to please God alone, we must stop trying to please everyone else! To impress others, and to follow other peoples plans for us, to be successful for self in Christian circles. We have to stop following other people, venerating them instead of God. All pastors or leaders are only under-shepherds, Christ Jesus is our Chief Shepherd, they are only redeemed sinners given a brief ministry of helping other sheep, for the Master. We cannot change into something that is contrary to the Bibles teaching and remain pleasing God. Jesus Christ must fill us with Himself, for really He is the only One who can please God.

Are you being drawn into acceptance of evil doctrines in order to keep relationships intact, or to find a church home? Someone said to us that we need to find a proper church so that we can be fed. We replied, fed on what? It is no use compromising and being fed on poison. Let the Holy Spirit teach you from the Scriptures, taking your nourishment day-byday, diligently applying yourself to training and obedience to the Lord, prayer and intercession for the lost. Many today should be mature in the faith, able to feed others, but are still sitting there being fed in some denomination that they know in their hearts has departed heavily from the true Faith. Look around, the fields are white for harvest, sinners needing the glorious Gospel, immature and confused baby Christians needing teaching from the authentic Bible by authentic, spiritual believers: Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest. And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together. John 4: 35, 36.

1 7 Others may brag on themselves, on their work, on their success, on their writings, but the Holy Spirit will not allow you to do any such thing, and if you begin it, He will lead you into some deep mortification that will make you despise yourself and all your good works. (Penn Lewis). This period of the Church Age is about truth versus error, enemies right in the camp, serving the Lord or glorifying self, humility and the crucified life versus getting on with the crowd and being consider a good guy. We have to make our choices. The gods of self and being used, the gods of feeling good and being successful in Christian circles, the gods of other people who approve of us have entreating voices. Joshua had these choices to make in his day, what will it be for us? And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD. Joshua 24:15.

WHAT IS THIS DIALECTIC IN BRIEF?

JESUS CHRIST, THE SAME YESTERDAY, TODAY FOREVER.

The simplicity that is in Christ Jesus could never be stressed enough, most assuredly. In Him all the treasures of wisdom, knowledge, righteousness, redemption, sanctification and riches of Grace are hidden. When we receive Jesus Christ as Saviour He comes to dwell in us through the Holy Spirit we have potentially everything we, as Gods redeemed, will ever need. It is essential that we grow in Him, letting Him fill us with His own life, bringing to us His fullness. HE is the new creation, the new man, the hope of glory - Christ in you:

It is the call to CHANGE, because people must adjust in a rapidly changing world - we must all undergo a transformation, thus changing from our traditional stand. The call is to move from being ignorant, narrow-minded, intolerant, offensive to others, dogmatic, and irrational. Within the church structures it is the call, above all, to move into the real world, to be up-to-date, to stop being old fashioned. (See chart at the end of this book). This moves into changing the style of church music, presentation, bibles, preaching, even the clothes people wear to church services. Make everything more acceptable to modern society. It is all a part of seeking to join others to a Cosmic Oneness. In the denominations the Dialectic is more subtle; it deals with doctrines that are divisive or apt to cause separation between church groups or religions. That is why a clear cut salvation by trust in Christs sacrifice

Beauty for Ashes Spring-Summer Vol. 10:3 18 for sin ALONE is being replaced in many instances. Muddy waters can accommodate more trains of thought. And anyway, we all believe we must be good to be saved? In the long run? GOD does not change, His truths are always and ever for they are eternal. Christians must obey God and be solid witnesses for His truths, as the Bible shows us. God is not pleased by departure from His Word and counsel; He will reject those sinners who will not follow His knowledge and direction in the Word: Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me:For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD: They would have none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof. Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices. For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them. But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil. Proverbs 1:28-33. The clear teachings of Gods Word are being changed to accommodate the lusts and sins of men! Note the prosperity of fools shown in verse 32 above. The Prosperity doctrines of many churches are for the fools who do not heed the Scriptures. Simplicity of life-style, rejection of crass greed for material goods should distinguish the godly person from this evil world. As God has directed us: Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. Matthew 6: 19-21. This following rather long quote tells the godly man or woman all that they need to know about the evil Prosperity doctrines of the contemporary churches:

For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession; That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ: Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and L ord of lords; W ho only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting.
