Curriculum Goals for the 2011-2012 Preschool Ages 2 through 4 Social and Emotional Skills:
Communicate his/her needs with others Explore types of work and careers with pretend toys, books and guest speakers Participate in projects to help others in need: Operation Christmas Child, Shoe Drive, ect. Practice problem-solving skills in social situations Practice using manners: please, thank you, excuse me, table manners Share classroom materials with peers Show respect and concern for others State personal information: first and last name, age, address, city, state Take care of his/her own basic needs: clean up snack area, put on and off coat, use tissue as needed, etc. Work in groups or with a partner or teacher

Religion
Learn about Gods love through Bible Stories in Old and New Testament Learn Jesus teachings to love God and love others Listen to stories of the life of Jesus Recognize that God created families to love and take care of one another

Math
Counting objects to 20 Matching: symbols, shapes, patterns, etc. More, Less, Same Numerals 1-10 Patterns: AB, AABB, ABC Same and Different Basic Shapes: square, rectangle, circle, triangle Sizes: small, medium, large Sorting by various attributes: color, shape, size Time: Day and Night

Literacy
Answer questions about stories Build listening skills in groups Build new vocabulary Concepts of printing: left to right direction, holding a book right-side-up Develop fine motor skills with scissors and writing utensils

Draw pictures and dictate sentences about stories and experiences Exposure to alphabet: letter names and phonetics Hold a pencil, marker, crayon correctly Recognize, spell, write first name Repeat simple nursery rhymes, songs and fingerplays Retell familiar stories Sequencing Strengthen visual discrimination

Foreign Language:
