Case Study 1 The description of Devesh Sharmas diary entry clearly tells us the level of excitement he is experiencing, and

because of this he forgets that he cant expect himself to do much in a little span of time, and thus he should go easy on himself and use the 1st 1-3 months to publicize himself with his peers and superior. It is clearly visible from the diary entry ,he actually follow this path of trying to understand the execution of the organization and spent a month or two on this, but he certainly did not follow the CAs advice to not put together and in chorus put up any new ideas or systems of cost control to the DGM, the DGM also gave him the same advice, which he only partially followed since he only named his report strategically and still mentioned the measures that could be taken in order to keep check on the problems concerned. The DGM had asked him to point out the flaws in the security and safety and control systems. By following the DGMs suggestion (i.e. by just submitting a simple realistic note that was ordered), Devesh had the chance of being called to a new meeting so that his view on what actions should be taken could be tacit by his superiors and this would end result in his better relations with the people. Thus, Devesh should have formulated a control system (but kept it with himself) in a way to obtain such scenario. Communiqu of information is not simply the communication of a message, but should also involve some proper distribution strategy (i.e. when to transmit information, to whom, what part of information should be transmitted and to whom) Another important point that Devesh should have considered is to understand the dynamics of the chain of command. Devesh should understand that every company doesnt pursue the open door strategy accurately; one has to build enormous trust and strong relations especially with their superiors in order to access the open door strategy and skip the chain of command. These issues may seem quite small but can cause some serious consequences if ignored. Thus, Devesh should do certain things like Learn to follow superiors advice (but still exercise ingenuity) and appreciate the dynamics of the chain of command (for ABC organization) before trying to jump upward or across command line for reporting or suggestions. But, I dont feel that Devesh should give up so soon (as this is a frequently occurring case in any organization organizations), but he must add this to his knowledge as well as to his experience and try and act more cleverly and coolly so that he can use his fervor, hard working and truthful nature to his own benefit also.
