Respected teachers & parents & my dear fellow students, Assalamu alaikum.

The topic for my speech is, 'The importance & status of Parents' & I today, I will present a few true stories about our Holy Prophet & the sahabah-e-karaam, & then you can decide for yourself the status & importance of our parents. When our Holy Prophet went on Mairaj to meet Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala, He was met & greeted by Hazrat Adam on the first sky, Hazrat Isa, Hazrat Zakariya & Hazrat Yahya on the second sky, Hazrat Yusuf on the third sky, Hazrat Idrees on the fourth sky, Hazrat Harun on the fifth sky & Hazrat Musa On the sixth sky. When our Holy Prophet went on the seventh sky, there was no one to greet him. He saw a Bait-ul-Allah where the angels were performing tawaf & an old man, with a long white beard was sitting with his back to the Bait-ul-Allah. Our Prophet asked, who is he? The angel Jibrael told him that he is your grandfather Hazrat Ibrahim. Our Holy Prophet himself walked towards Hazrat Ibrahim, whereas all the other prophets stood & came to greet the Holy Prophet. When our Holy Prophet neared Hazrat Ibrahim, he stood up, embraced our Holy Prophet & said, Welcome, my son has come. All the other prophets said, welcome our brother has come. All this happened even though our Holy Prophet's status is greater than that of Hazrat Ibrahim's but in respect to relation, our Holy Prophet's status is less than that of Hazrat Ibrahim's as our Prophet is the grandson & Hazrat Ibrahim is the great grandfather. Otherwise, there is no equal to the status that is of our Holy Prophet. There is only the Holy Prophet after Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala. Such a great prophet Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala has made, that when the Holy Prophet talked to Allah Subhanahu wa

Ta'ala directly, he said, Ya Allah, You made Hazrat Ibrahim Your Khalil & Hazrat Musa Your Kaleem & You made the iron soft for Hazrat Da'ud & You made the winds obey Hazrat Suleman & You gave life to the dead for Hazrat Isa, so Ya Allah, what is there for me? So Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala said, Oh my prophet, I will give you the best of things, Your name & my name will be together, it will never be separated. Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala gave the Holy Prophet his closeness. Forever, Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala & the Holy Prophet's names will be joined in the Kalima, La Ilaha Ill-al Allahu Muhammad-ur Rasool-ul Allah. All this was done to teach this ummat a lesson because Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala knew that the coming generations would be disobediant to their parents, they only know how to make money, they have only been taught this, they have not been taught the respect, status & importance of parents. Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala made our Holy Prophet walk towards Hazrat Ibrahim to teach all of mankind the importance & status of parents. If we lose this lesson, then we will be destroyed & the person who is careless of the na'mat of parents, then he has lost the greatest lesson of all. The translation of a Hadees is, that the Holy Prophet was asked, when will the Day of Judgement come? He replied, only Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala knows. He was then asked, what are the signs then, of the Day of Judgement? He replied when children will be disrespectful of their mothers. Infact, he said, when daughters will be disrespectful of their mothers & treat them like servants, for a woman has more Haya, modesty than a man, then the Day of Judgement is very near. Once Hazrat Abu Hurairah was getting ready for Jihad. His mother said to him, Don't leave me alone. He replied, Allah's Messenger has said come & I will go. His mother pleaded

with him, For the sake of my milk that you drank, don't leave me & go. Hazrat Abu Hurairah insisted & said, No I will go. He put on his weapons & his mother sent a message to the Holy Prophet that I gave him the sake of my milk & still, he did not stay. Hazrat Abu Hurairah arrived in the Holy Mosque with his weapons but the Holy Prophet turned his face & did not look at Hazray Abu Hurairah. He got worried & asked, Oh Messenger of Allah. what happened? The Holy Prophet said, your mother gave you the sake of her milk & still it did not soften your heart? What kind of Jihad are you going to do after this? When the Holy Prophet went to Jannat on Mairaj, he heard the recitation of the Quran. He was surprised & asked, who is reciting the Quran? The angels told him, this is Harisa bin Nauman. Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala has given him this honour that whenever he recites the Quran, the whole Jannat listens. This is because he helped & cared for his mother a lot. A woman came to the Prophet once & said, my husband, 'Alqama is dying & he cannot recite the Kalima. A sahabi cannot recite the Kalima, all the great scholars & abideen in the world cannot be equal to the dust on a sahabi's feet. The Holy Prophet asked, are either of his parents alive? The woman replied, yes, his mother is alive. The Holy Prophet asked to speak to her, so she came herself. The Prophet asked her, are you upset with your son? She replied, yes, I have no complains of his Ibadaat. He is very pious. But he is very rude. His tongue is very sharp, whenever he speaks, he breaks my heart. When his mother forgave him, the Sahabi was able to say the Kalima & then died. When a Sahabi has difficulty reciting the Kalima on his deathbed, Sahaba who Allah has proclaimed in the Quran that He is pleased with them & they with Him, what will happen to us? A rude tone

has become the only tone used with parents by this generation. If we misbehave with our parents so much, what will we do on our deathbeds & in our graves? Money will not come to save us. In a translation of a Hadees, once, when My Holy Prophet was sitting in Madinah Munawwarah, when all respect had been given to him by Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala, he said I wish my parents were alive, or atleast my mother was alive, & I begun my Isha prayers & my mother would open the window of my house & say, Muhammad! & I would break my Salah & say, Yes mother? This is a wish of the Holy Prophet. He is the light of both worlds, & his ways are the sirat-emustaqeem for both worlds for all of mankind. We should follow his words & earn the successes of both worlds. May Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala lead us on the right path. Ameen.
