Agree to capture the escaped criminal and then make your way to the Abandoned Ruins in the Free Marches. There you'll encounter a group of people. Elren will ask you to kill the criminal which poses a decision you'll have have to make when you actually find this criminal; kill him to please Elren or capture him to please Magistrate Vanard. First, you must find him however. Venture into the Ruined Passage and fight your way through the various enemies. Loot all the spiders you kill which will eventually reward you with the Spider's Silk Gland which is an item you need for the Herbalist's Tasks quest. Continue to battle your way through the cave until you meet Lia, Elren's daughter. Continue into the next area to encounter the criminal, Kelder. Here, you'll have to make your choice: spare Kelder and capture him, or kill him. Again, if you spare and capture Kelder, Magistrate Vanard will reward you for returning him. If you kill him, Elren will reward you. The choice is yours. Either way, return to Magistrate Vanard to complete the quest.

Now go to the Docks and defeat the thugs who have Pryce. After the brief battle, you'll need to decide whether to let him go with the goods or return him to Athenril. Letting him go will gain friendship points with most companions. Return to Athenril either way to complete the quest.
Fools Rush In
Starting Location: The Hanged Man Prerequisite: Complete Tranquility This quest starts in the Hanged Man. When you enter you will see Isabela in a bar fight. Talk to her and she will ask you to meet her in Hightown. When you get there you will have to fight off an ambush. When the fight is over loot the bodies for a clue as to why you were ambushed. Then follow Isabela to the Chantry where you will have another fight. At the conclusion Isabella will join your group of companions. If you do not complete this quest before you do The Deep Roads Expedition, you will never be able to recruit Isabela as a companion. As long as you do this quest however, you will unlock Finders Keepers and Isabela's Contact.
Finders Keepers
Starting Location: The Hanged Man Prerequisite: Complete Fools Rush In Talk to Isabella in the Hanged Man. She will direct you to Martin, who is also in the Hanged Man. He will send you to the docks. It is in a warehouse, but the guards won't let you in. The only way to get in is to fight them. Watch out for traps in the warehouse. In the main room of the warehouse near the ship is a box with the cargo. Grab it and head back to the Hanged Man. Speak to Martin again and decide whether you want to be a part of his scheme or not. Know that attempting to bribe him will earn you rivalry points with Aveline if she's present. If you tell him the location of the cargo, he'll offer to sell you poisons. He will become a vender right here in the Hanged Man for the rest of the game if you opt for this choice.

You will need to talk to Solivitus after completing the Long Way Home quest and agree to help him find some ingredients he requires. Most of these can be found during other quests. For instance, the Spider's Silk Gland can only be acquired during the Magistrate's Orders quest. While on that quest, be sure to loot every spider carcass until you have collected the required gland. Act 2
Night Terrors
Starting Location: Hawke Estate (writing desk) Prerequisites: Complete The Deep Roads Expedition Proceed to Lowtown and talk to Arianni in the elven alienage. Select your party members and begin your adventure into the fade. Head into the middle area to encounter the Sloth Demon. He offers you a deal: help him possess Feynriel and he will give you a reward. Know that if Anders is with you, he will hate it if you humor the idea of dealing with the demon, but if you are looking to gain rivalry with Anders, this is a great place to do it. If you refuse the offer, you'll be forced to battle the demon right away. Either way, you should note that your upcoming choices have effects on Feynriel's mind. If you shake his mental state too much, you will not be able to save him and the Sloth Demon may not even be able to inhabit him either. It's best to save your game in the central room before proceeding. Make your way into the door marked "Feynriel's Desires." If you try to talk Feynriel into going with his father, you will greatly increase the instability of his mind. Say this isn't real and you'll slightly raise his instability. If you talk him into rejecting his father, there will be no affect on his stability (good). After the dialogue, Caress will force Isabela into joining the demon. If Isabela isn't in your party, Aveline will join her. If neither are, you'll simply battle the demon by itself. Either way, use abilities to stop your enemies' movements to prevent them from attacking you while you damage them. Once you've defeated them, head back into the middle room and into the opposite door. In the Feynriel's Pride room, you'll have another set of options to chose between. You can agree with the demon that Feynriel should accept his destiny to greatly increase his mind's instability. Or you can attempt to reveal the situation to him to slightly increase his instability. The last option is to tell Feynriel to reject his destiny which will have no effect on his fragile mind. Again, you'll have to battle a demon after the dialogue. Merrill will join the demon, and if not her, Fenris will and if not him, Varric. Defeat the demon and any companion who joins it then return to the central room. If you made a deal with the Sloth Demon it will greet you here. If you made Feynriel's mind too unstable for the demon, it will attack you then and there. If his mind wasn't messed up too bad, you can let the Sloth Demon possess him or battle the creature to leave Feynriel alone. Know that if he is unstable and you save him, he will beg you to kill him which will make him Tranquil. Back in the real world, if you save Feynriel with a stable mind, you will receive a
1
reactive quest in Act 3. If Feynriel was possessed, there will be a different conclusion and a different reactive event in Act 3. If Feynriel is made Tranquil, it will lead to no additional events and will provide the least rewards. Note that if any of your companions turned on you in the Fade, they will wish to speak to you once the quest is complete.

Be sure to focus on the Emissaries when they appear. Once clear, talk to Merin then head south to collect the Golem Control Rob off Iwan's body. If you want to rescue Iwan, go to the northeast and help him defeat the darkspawn that surround him. Mine Massacre
Starting Location: Hightown or The Bone Pit Prerequisite: Complete The Bone Pit and Inside Job - Either Speak to Hubert or simple visit the Bone Pit which will automatically begin the quest. This is a relatively simply quest, but it is unbelievably hard. Your task is to defeat the High Dragon responsible for the death and destruction at the mines. To do this, you'll need to be well prepared. You'll need a ton of potions, Health, Mana, and Stamina. You'll also want a healer in your party. If you are not one yourself, then you'll want Anders with you. Bringing a Tank is also highly recommended. If you are not one, you should bring Aveline with you. To help you further, you may want want to bring a mage with a cold damaging staff and even the Elemental Weapons spell which will alter all the party's weapons to dish out cold damage. Again, preparation is the key to victory here. The battle will begin when you enter the open space marked on the map south of the mines. Keep your party spread out to avoid all being hit by one attack. The dragon starts on the ground but will hop around to change positions. Have your tank rush in close to keep the beast's attention. Your healer should focus on simply healing the one tank as needed while your other characters attack the dragon from range. Every now and then, the High Dragon will fly up and land on a perch above the battle field. You cannot reach it from the ground and you much simply defeat all the Dragonlings that appear here. Again, stay spread out because the High Dragon likes to snipe your characters with fireballs. Kill all the little dragons and the High Dragon will land back down on the ground with you. Return to the previous strategy and repeat until you've slain this beast. Loot the High Dragon's body after defeating it to collect the Champion Chestpiece, Enchanted Resin which is an Armor Upgrade for Fenris, and the High Dragon Fire Gland which will start the Herbalist's Tasks quest. If you simply stumbled into this area and began the quest, it will end when you defeat the dragon. If you got the quest from Hubert, return to him to complete it.

Go to the north of the cave and defeat the Varterral like you did during Mirror Image. With the Varterral dead, speak to Zevran. You can choose to let him go or take him hostage and return him. Know that you will be forced to fight either way but if you let him go, Zevran will return and fight by your side to aid you in battle. Once you've decided, loot the treasure then head for the Antivan Camp. Again, all options end in a battle with the Crows here. Defeat them all and speak to Zevran again. If you previously let him go, he will give a dagger for believing and helping him. Know that if Zevran did not romance the Warden in the first game, he will be flirtatious with Hawke in this game. This quest involves finding a number of Evil Tomes. Each time you find a tome, you'll have the option to "Destroy the book," "Read the book," and "Take the book." Taking the books does absolutely nothing so this option should be ignored. Reading the book will grant you 2 free attribute points but if you do this, you'll be unable to finish the quest. Also know that you can only read one of these books so the option will not appear when you find the other books. There's no real advantage to this option either so it is recommended that you ignore this one as well. The preferred option is to destroy the book. Don't worry, by destroying the initial five books, you'll still be able to acquire 2 free attribute points at the end of the quest. Whatever your choice may be, you will always have to fight demons after interacting with each book. The first couple books are within Kirkwall. You'll find one in the Viscount's Keep and another in the Chantry. Defeat the enemies that spawn after touching each book then move on. Now travel to the Bone Pit and go to the east side of this area to find the Cave. Enter the Cave and explore it to find another Evil Tome. Defeat the Desire Demon and its minions then leave. Now go to the Wounded Coast and head west and then south to find the Dank Cave. Inside you'll battle through some spiders and then have to face a Dragon. Use cold damage and incapacitation abilities to disable it from moving. Once defeated, loot the surrounding area and destroy the Evil Tome. Defeat the demons that appear and move on. Next, travel to Sundermount and find the entrance to the Abandoned Thaig which is near the western Sundermount exit. Inside this cavern, you'll face off against Stone Golems and various demons. Don't let your characters get separated between small rooms. Always keep them working together. Know that if you are having troubles with a particular room, try holding your party in a smaller nearby room and force your enemies to funnel through a small door way to get to you. Head north and defeat the Rage Demon and flaming Assassin. Explore the room to the east and interact with the corpse there to unlock the "South-Song" Gerralt's Corpse quest. The room in the middle will provide the biggest battle. Again, if you are having trouble, situate your party in the small room to the west and kill the enemies as they funnel through the entrance to get to you. Destroy the Evil Tome and defeat the newly spawn creatures. As long as you destroyed all the tomes, the quest will update and continue. If you didn't destroy them all, the quest will end here. With all 5 destroyed, proceed to Darktown and enter the Evil Pit entrance with a Rogue in your party. Use the rogue as your point character so they can disarm the traps as you delve deeper into the pit. Defeat the enemies that appear along the way and then interact with the Fell Grimoire. It will present the same three options as all the books did but this time you can read this book which will grant you 2 free attribute points to use. After dealing with the book, more demons will spawn. Xebenkeck is a deadly desire demon who can aid her allies. You'll want to focus everything you can on her first. Know that she is weak against electricity and nature damage but on Nightmare difficulty is immune to spirit. Take her out first then worry about Rage Demons and the other creatures. Loot the area to collect a whole host of goodies then leave the area to complete this quest.

Upon defeating the mighty beast, loot the surrounding area and even the Varterral's body itself to collect the Varterral's Heart for the Herbalist's Tasks quest. Being nice to Merrill after defeating the beast will net you some friendship points while being mean and pushy will lead to rivalry points. You will also get a lot of friendship points with Merrill if you give her the Arulin'holm but this will displease Aveline, Anders, Fenris and Sebastian. If you are having problems with the central room, try holding up in the small room off to the side and forcing the enemies to funnel through the doorway. Be sure to loot the room south of the waypoint which will provide you with an Armor Upgrade for Varric. When you reach the waypoint, you'll need to fight Bartrand and his Crazed Guards. Try to used abilities and spells to hold Bartrand in place while others attack him. Upon defeating him, you'll have a few options. If Anders is in your current party, he can step in and help Bartrend. After that, if you decide to kill Bartrend, you'll earn rivalry with Varric and if you spar him, you'll earn friendship. Once you've nabbed all the deposits, return to Anders's Clinic and speak to him once again. He will now ask you to help him sneak into the Chantry. If you don't want to help him, the quest will end instantly. If you do want to help him, head to the Chantry. Once you arrive, Anders will disappear. If you take the shard, bring it to Sandal in Hawke's Estate and he will convert the shard into a Primeval Lyrium Rune. This will drastically increase the attack speed of any weapon you apply it to. After receiving the letter that starts this quest, visit Aveline in the Viscount's Keep. After you talk to her, put her into your active party and head to the Docks during the night. Find Donnic and help him fend off a horde of enemies. After you do this, go to the Gallows and talk to Cullen. Now head to Lowtown at night find Brennan. Not that if Aveline married Donnic, she will be able to inspire loyalty in the guardsmen through her compassion. If you did not help her connect with Donnic, she will be a hard leader to follow. Once you've talked to Brennan, head over to Darktown and fight your way to Jeven. If completed The Long Road and helped get Aveline and Donnic together, no guardsmen will side with Jeven. Your best choice then is to let her do the talking or she will be upset that you stepped in. If you did not help her earlier in the game, you have a number of other options. You can suggest that Aveline is partly to blame which will earn you a lot of rivalry points with her or you can suggest that the guardsmen have made their choice which will make Aveline resign as captain. If Aveline has the loyalty of her men, then the fight with Jeven will be a lot easier. If you did not complete The Long Road however, you will have to fight a slue of guardsmen along with Jeven. If this happens, be sure to focus on him first. Once you've defeated Jeven, search his body to retrieve the Armor Upgrade for Aveline. Return to the Viscount's Keep and speak to Aveline here to complete the quest.

If you haven't done so already, be sure to pick up the Awiergan Scroll just south of where you enter Sundermount. Talk to the Keeper for bonus dialogue then proceed to climb up the mountain path. Just south of the Sundermount Caverns entrance, you'll find another Awiergan Scroll behind a short wall. Fight your way through the caverns and you'll pop out on top of the mountain. Loot the graveyard and kill the enemies that appear when you do. Continue to fight your way along the mountain top and enter Pride's End. When you reach Pride's End, interact with the statue in the middle of the room. Once the Pride Demon appears, focus only on it. Keep your party spread out to avoid having multiple characters hit by a single attack. Note that in Fire form it is immune to Fire but weak against Cold and Nature damage. It can also take a Poison form which is immune to nature but weak against Fire and Electricity damage. The creature will summon elves to help it, but you should ignore them and continue to focus only on the demon itself. Upon defeating the demon, select the dialogue option, "You said you had to die". This will put an end to the confrontation once and for all. If you select, "I'm glad that's over" you will have to fight the demon again but know that it will be a lot weaker in this final battle. Loot the Keeper's body to collect Merrill's Armor Upgrade before leaving the cave. Outside the cave you will be approached by a band of Dalish elves. If you take responsibility for Merrill, the elves will let you leave but know that you shouldn't return to Sundermount with Merrill in your party. If she is, the entire clan will attack you. The other options here end with you having to fight your way down the mountain through all the Dalish Elves which can prove extremely difficult.
