CHAPTER 1 The Problem and its Background Introduction The Philippines is facing one of the most emerging global

issues today and that is Hypertension. Hypertension can lead to more serious illness if left untreated it may lead to stroke, blindness, heart attack, heart failure and kidney failure. Strong research evidence has illustrated conclusively that lifestyle modification are effective in lowering blood pressure and reducing cardiovascular factor Hypertension is the one of common disease in the Philippines in the year 2007, hypertension remained to be first leading cause of morbidity. One out of five adult filipino is hypertensive and not even aware of the condition while 90% of the countrys population has one or more of the risk factor that contribute to high blood pressure these risk factors include smoking, obesity, lack of exercise, dangerously low consumption of fruits and vegetables and hereditary. In preventing hypertension, proper diet, avoid fatty and high cholesterol foods, proper exercise like brisk walking, swimming, aerobics . Strong research evidence has illustrated conclusively that lifestyle modification are effective in lowering blood pressure and reducing cardiovascular factor.

CHAPTER 2 Related Literature Local The Heart of the Matter The Philippine Heart Associations (PHA) decision to conduct a survey, simply dubbed Physician-Related Factors Determining Optimal Blood Pressure Control Among Hypertensive Filipinos, showed some alarming results. According to the PHA Council on Hypertension chairman, Dr. Emma Trinidad, the main goal of the study was to identify and evaluate the significant physician-related factors determining blood pressure control among Filipino hypertension sufferers in Metro Manila. This will be a pilot study and hopefully will progress to become a nationwide survey in the future, she added.

In her presentation Gaps in the Management of Hypertension in the Philippines, during the PHA-Novartis media briefing at the Heart House, Dr. Trinidad pointed out that the burden of cardiovascular diseases as well as prevalence of risk factors for coronary artery disease in the country is rising.

From 1990 to 1997, diseases of the heart and diseases of the vascular system remained to be the first and second leading causes of mortality (death) and morbidity (disability). Hypertension, in particular, has an increasing prevalence of 11 percent in 1992 to 22 percent in 1998, and since then has more or less stabilized at 21 percent in 2007.

CHAPTER 3 Research Methodology This chapter discusses the method of research used, the sample and sampling procedure, the research instrument, data gathering procedure and the statistical treatment of data. Research Method Used The study used the descriptive survey method of research with the use of the questionnaire interview technique. Descriptive method is design for gathering data hinges on the types of method to be used. As a rule, we should use only one type of design appropriate to our problem. Also the study use Likert Scale it is an ordered,
one-dimensional scale from which respondents choose one option that best aligns with their view.

The survey deals with gathering information about the impact of hypertensive lifestyle management program in Barangay 232 Zone 21. It aims to obtain information about the level of learning gained of all the residence in the Barangay in the said program, as well as the factors affecting the aspects of learning and the significant relationship between the factors and aspects of learning. Sample and Sampling Procedure
The study involved 60 residents in Tayuman, Tondo Manila. They were sampled purposively from selecting residents in Brgy. 232, Zone 31, Tayuman, Tondo Manila.

CHAPTER 4 Presentation, Analysis and Interpretation of Data Presentation, Analysis and Interpretation of Data This chapter presents the findings of the study relative to the sub problems raised in Chapter 1. The analysis and interpretation of data are also discussed. Sub Problem No. 1 To what extent is the learning in knowledge of the recipients of the ff aspects: 1.1 Health Teaching 1.2 Activities The different aspects that inclined in the learning of the recipient s are presented in tables 7-12. Legend:

CHAPTER 5 Summary, Conclusion and Recommendation This summary presents the summary, findings, conclusion and

recommendation of the study. This study tried to assess the effectiveness of the hypertensive lifestyle management program in Barangay 232 zone 21 Tayuman Tondo Manila. It assessed the following sub problems: 1. To what extent is the learning in knowledge of recipient of the following aspects
1.1 Health teaching

1.2 Activities 2. What are the factors related to the learning of the recipient on the aspects of learning
2.1 Speaker

2.2 Content 2.3 Methodologies/ Strategies 2.4 Environment 3. Is there a significant relationship between the aspects of learning and factors related to
learning

Findings: 1. The following are the findings upon the assessment of the effectiveness of Hypertensive Lifestyle Management Program in Barangay 232, Zone 21, Tayuman, Manila. The significant of this study in terms of health teaching obtained a rate of 4.36
