Section B: Summary
[10 marks]

Read the passage below and answer the question that follows.

Every child starts off thinking his father is a hero. What exactly does a
hero do? He comes to the rescue when he needs to, of course! I cannot count
the numerous times my father has come to my rescue. Once, when my
motorcycle could not start, I woke my father up and he drove all the way to pick
me up. He is also helpful and patient. He does not mind sending my mother to
work even though she is capable of driving herself.

In addition, he is a great handyman too. Any time a gadget stops

functioning, I take it to him. He does not complain about spending a whole
afternoon trying to fix it. He even runs errands for me without complaining like
driving me to the bank because he knows finding a parking spot is not easy.

In so many ways, my father sets the best example for me as he is a perfect

gentleman. Every time we go out to eat, he will stand in line and order while I
mother and I sit and wait. He even shells the prawns and crabs for us.

He spends a lot of time with us by watching television, sharing a bowl of

I' 'cendol' or going grocery shopping together. This makes him a special friend. I
realise I am blessed and thank God for giving me the best father any child
could wish to have.

Write a summary on reasons why the writer feels his father is special.
Your summary must:

• not be more than 60 words, including the 10 words given below.

• be in continuous writing (not note form).
• be written in ONE paragraph.

Use your own words as far as possible without changing its original meaning.

Begin your summary as follows:

The writer always feels that his father is special because .. ...
