. What are Corporate Social Contributions (CSC) and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)? Describe the differences between CSC and CSR. Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is a companys obligation to be accountable to all of its stakeholders in all its operations and activities to meet acceptable standards on doing business, with the aim of achieving sustainable development not only in the economical dimension but also in the social and environmental dimensions. Corporate social contribution (CSC) is a further step of development of CSR, with more voluntary actions of the company in terms of involving in social activities, and promoting general welfare. Through CSC a positive image of business activities can be shaped and a greater social perception for a life of giving can be created.

2.

When was the CSC concept first introduced to businesses around the world and why was it introduced?

Todays heightened interest in the proper role of businesses in society has been promoted by increased sensitivity to ethical issues. Issues like environmental damage, improper treatment of workers, andua faulty production leading to customers inconvenience or danger, are highlighted in the media. Government regulation regarding environmental and social issues has increased. Investors and investment fund managers have begun to make investment decisions based on social sustainability as well as pure economics. Consumers have become increasingly sensitive to the social performance of the companies from which they buy their goods and services. This accumulation of industry forces pressure firms to operate in an economically, socially and environmentally sustainable way. Corporate Social Responsibility was first noticed in the Anglo-Saxon world at around 1950s with the idea of contributing societal welfare and environmental responsibility. As this management tool was very successful the idea spread around the world and is now a global business concept. Then in the increasingly conscience-focused marketplaces of the 21st century, the demand for more ethical business processes and actions was increasing. Simultaneously, pressure was applied on industry to improve business ethics through new public initiatives and laws. Thus, a further step of development in CSR led to the appearance of corporate social contribution (CSC). For many corporations, community outreach programs create good will in the community. This can indirectly increase revenue. 3. Whats the difference between business ethics and CSC and define the differences.

Business ethics can be defined as written and unwritten codes of principles and values that govern decisions and actions within a company. In the business world, the organization's culture sets standards for determining the difference between good and bad decision making and behavior. In the most basic terms, a definition for business ethics boils down to knowing the difference between right and wrong and choosing to do what is right. The phrase 'business ethics' can be used to describe the actions of individuals within an organization, as well as the organization as a whole. Corporate responsibility is an integral part of business ethics and should be practiced by all entities, whether large or small. Corporate responsibility simply means that each individual within a company is practicing personal and professional responsibility in a way that will benefit him and others.

- Community: spending money on community improving projects, encouraging workers to volunteer (blood drives and reading programs are common examples), monetary donations and aid given to local organizations and impoverished communities or money spent to help build skills for the local people.

- Education: endowing scholarships, providing free courses for kids, youths (life skills, soft skills..) - Environment: involve in environment projects to raise awareness of people, and improve the current state of the local area (like cleaning the streets, growing trees, biking projects, a firm investing in clean technologies that prevent pollution..)

5.

Which category in question 4 above, works well for me, my community and my country?

In my opinion, CSC conducted in Community category is the one which works well for me, my community and my country. Vietnam is still a developing country, there are many people living under very low-living standards, poverty, diseases; there are always natural disasters every year, destroy many lives, and remain difficult living conditions for local people. That requires every parts of the society, including corporate component, to join hands and helping our people to improve their life, have a better living conditions, to bring light to areas with no electricity, and kids can go to school and have chance to be valued and develop, thereby our country could have a bright future.
