Letter of Motivation.

The world is in its fast pace, full of competitions and challenges, and in order to meet with the tough requirements of real world, you need to be qualified, fully trained and vigilant in making a decision. The first priority of every citizen should be to serve his country in the best possible way. Being in a technical field this responsibility motivates me to make my country sound in technology. For this I should be equipped with sound knowledge of my field. So I decided to do my Masters from a country which is globally recognized for its quality of education. Sweden is recognized as a role model of creativity and independent thinking. I am currently doing my Bachelors (8th term) from the University of Engineering and technology Lahore Pakistan specialized in Power and there are many reasons why I chose to become a power engineer. Pakistan is experiencing energy crisis and the main source of electricity is the hydro power plants. Government is unable to cope with the growing demand of power. This motivated me to become a power engineer and work on alternate energy resources and propose a better alternative for this problem. Government has started to pay attention on renewable energy resources in which wind and solar are on the front. But there is a deficiency of power engineers in Pakistan and this thing also motivated me to come into this field. India is a source of inspiration because being our neighbor it stands 4th in producing electricity from wind. I as a power engineering student have a strong belief that we can also reach to that level but with the help of skilled professionals. This is also the reason why I intend to pursue an MS degree. Protection and quality of power distribution system is not up to the mark in our country and after having the courses like Power System Analysis, Power distribution, Power transmission and currently Power System Protection there is still a thirst to know more about these subjects and only Masters degree in these courses can quench it. Professor Lennart Soder who is the Research leader at Electric Power System KTH has done research on Power System Analysis so I would feel myself lucky if I get a chance to work with him and share my ideas with him. Protection and Control of the power distribution system also lies in my areas of interest. In my final year project I am working on a prototype of a wind generator. Mainly I am working on the generation, direction control, interfacing it with computer to display the data and data acquisition through GSM. In Pakistan wind turbines installation has started. It involves the control and protection of wind generators, interfacing with the grid stations, frequency control and many other aspects for which highly qualified staff will be needed so I want to render my services and this is only possible if you give me a chance to study in the prestigious institutes of Sweden.
