English Language Arts Grade 2


Goal 1 The learner will develop and apply enabling strategies and skills to read and write. Goal 2 The learner will develop and apply strategies and skills to comprehend text that is read, heard, and viewed. Goal 3 The learner will make connections through the use of oral language, written language, and media and technology. Goal 4 The learner will apply strategies and skills to create oral, written, and visual texts. Goal 5 The learner will apply grammar and language conventions to communicate effectively.

Mathematics Grade 2
Goal 1 Number and Operations - The learner will read, write, model, and compute with whole numbers through 999. Goal 2 Measurement - The learner will recognize and use standard units of metric and customary measurement. Goal 3 Geometry - The learner will perform simple transformations. Goal 4 Data Analysis and Probability - The learner will understand and use data and simple probability concepts. Goal 5 Algebra - The learner will recognize and represent patterns and simple mathematical relationships. Math Investigations Units

Goal 1 The learner will conduct investigations and build an understanding of animal life cycles. Goal 4 The learner will conduct investigations and use appropriate technology to build an understanding of the concepts of sound.

Social Studies Grade 2


Goal 1 The learner will identify and exhibit qualities of responsible citizenship in the classroom, school, and other social environments. Goal 2 The learner will evaluate relationships between people and their governments. Goal 3 The learner will analyze how individuals, families, and communities are alike and different. Goal 4 The learner will exhibit an understanding of change in communities over time. Goal 5 The learner will understand the relationship between people and geography in various communities. Goal 6 The learner will analyze how people depend on the physical environment and use natural resources to meet basic needs. Goal 7 The learner will apply basic economic concepts and evaluate the use of economic resources within communities.
